Hai! This probably is a really weird idea and I don't know if anyone is actually going to like it but here it is:
The world is changing. Scientists found a plant to 'enhance', I guess you could say, peoples' minds, making people smarter and more aware of what's happening round them. The government was afraid of this, because then all the people would be able to realize what the government was actually doing. Unfortunately for them, the scientists had already spread the plant worldwide and the plants' effects were passed down generation to generation, as if the plants' chemicals had become part of human DNA. However, fortunately for the government, and unfortunately for the people, the government found a loophole in the plants' effects. Without proper sleep, the human body could not use the plants' 'benefits'. So the government somehow figured out how to make sure that no one slept more than three or four hours in a day.
