"Yeah, no shit, Sherlock," Zoe snorted bitterly. "Just… talk things out with him. Please," she added, softer. "The disease is killing him inside… he needs help. I'm not telling you to fall in love with him, I'm just saying that you need to support and be there for him where you weren't before," She closed the door, and they drove in silence to Jared's house. (does someone else want to be jared?)
Zoe knocked on the door quietly. "Jared… someone wants to see you. Are you decent?"
Jared coughed, feeling a few petals stuck in his throat. He walked up to the door and saw Zoe, opening it gratefully. "Hey! Good to see you!" He said, finger gunning her. His smile faded when he saw Evan nearby.
(should we wait until @Amber's on, or should I just be evan for now?)
(we should probably wait)
(okay)
(hey um still open?)
(lol yeah)
Wringing his hands, Evan stepped out from behind Zoe. "Hi."
He tensed at the sight of Evan. He went pale, stepping back. "W-what are you doing here?"
Evan bit his lip. "Uh, Zoe brought me here to, um, apologize."
He stared at him for a moment, not sure what to say. His heart began to pound, and he could feel himself getting nauseous. "I-um, for what?"
Evan's heart sank. "Everything. Including you in everything. What I said to you after my mom found out. Just… everything."
He nodded. The nausea was starting to get overwhelming. "Yeah… okay." He wasn't sure what to think of Evan's apology. He clutched his stomach. "Is there anything else? D-do you want to uh, come in?"
Evan noted Jared's apparent discomfort, "Are you ok?"
He smiled weakly. "I'm fine," he said. Jared then coughed, a few petals escaping his mouth.
Evan wanted to rush to his old friend's side but wasn't sure if it would be overstepping. He took an awkward step forward, his hand lifted slightly.
He chuckled. "It's fine, I'm fine. Just a bit sick. That's all."
Evan's hand fell back to his leg. "Okay." Silence fell again.
He cleared his throat. "Is there anything else?"
Evan looked up again. "I just want you to know that I mean it."
Jared nodded. He still wasn't sure what to think. "I…don't know if I believe that, Evan."
He nodded slowly. "I understand. Is there anything I can do?"
He shrugged. "I don't know. I never expected you to show up here, honestly. So I'm not sure what to do."
"Understandable." A memory resurfaced. "I still remember us writing those godforsaken letters," he recalled bitterly.
