Aislinn let all the children climb onto her back, and she flew them back to the village. It was a dragon-filled area, as this was one of the few villages that didn't try to kill them or were even remotely cruel. Then she carefully walked to Oyoyo.
Pocky still watched the dragons. She understood every grunt and growl, wishing she could talk with them too.
Oyoyo glanced at the children on the feathered dragon’s back. “Who are you?”, she asked the feathered dragon.
"I'm Aislinn. Resident dragon nurse for the children here," she dipped her head, laughing a little. "You are?"
//i thought they spoke english or whatever the people speak
Zhar clambered over the mountain, and flew down to the village, nodding to the flying dragon from before.
"That was quite a show. Are you new here?"
"New here? No, I'm from the mountains. My name is Oyoyo." ,she said.
The children began clamoring and shouting about the dragons. The little boy from before walked up to Oyoyo and tried to touch her talon.
Zhar bowed his head respectfully, "My name is Zhar. Apologies, Oyoyo. I did not mean to offend. I haven't seen you around here before. The mountains are vast, however."
His black and silver scales shimmered as he stretched out, taking in the sun.
Oyoyo flinched back and roared at a little boy out of impulse. She immediately wanted to take it back. "Sorry, I'm not used to being around humans. Not even in my human form, which I haven't been in for years." Oyoyo tried to explain why she acted as she did, but she was worried the other dragons would think she was aggressive. Then again, I've killed countless other dragons in the war.
The boy whimpered and started crying a little, running back to Aislinn. "It's fine," she said in response to Oyoyo while comforting the boy.
Oyoyo held out her wing to the boy. It was strange interacting with a creature to small and fragile. She didn't want to hurt him.
Zhar regarded the act with a sense of suspicion, though little in the way of emotion could actually be seen on his face. He carefully trotted to Aislinn, "Hello, Aislinn. All is well, for the most part?"
"For the most part. Emma died three days ago, however. The adults are still mourning - these little ones don't understand death," she nodded to Zhar.
( Yes they know English, but most dragons also have their own language )
Pocky walked towards the dragons, but turned away when someone began to cry. She quickly retreated back towards the market.
Zhar nodded slowly, closing his eyes, "She will be remembered. It is not easy, Aislinn. Watching these lives pass me by, I wish I could do more. But we press on."
He turned back to Oyoyo, "You are an impressive flier, even for a skywing such as yourself. Tell me, where are your kin? I don't know of any skywing families in the mountains."
Oyoyo's face fell. "Kin? Over in the mountains there is war. Not everyone survives."
"There is war?" Aislinn asked, shocked. "How have we not heard of this? There's only a mountain."
"There's plenty of territory beyond the mountain.", Oyoyo replied. "Each tribe fights for the territory and the next queen."
"How… how close is the war to us? It won't come over the mountains… right?" She looked back at the village worriedly.
"I don't think it will… but with war you can never tell." Oyoyo looked at the mountains in the distance,
She murmured nervously. "Let's pray it doesn't. I can't evacuate a whole village."
"Our tribe could fight then off. We have the whole mountains! We are the fiercest tribe!", Oyoyo roared.
Aislinn chuckled. "Yes, yes, of course. I'd best be getting the children back to their parents… but perhaps we could meet in the forest later?"
"Alrighty! What about your shy friend? The galaxy colored one. I saw her start to walk over, but then turn around."
"That's Pocky, and I guess she isn't coming over because she's trapped in human form."
