I propose that it starts at a school… Maybe some sort of fantasy school for elves and witches and stuff? IDK just a thought.

(Anybody want to start?)
Ivory Greene. She has brown hair and green eyes, and she's athletic. She's sixteen and can shapeshift, but requires an 8-second cooldown before each shapeshift. Ivory has poor eyesight, so she either wears contact lenses or glasses; it just depends on her mood. She wears a V-neck T-shirt with long sleeves, a jacket with brown fur, black skinny jeans with dark brown boots. Ivory is somewhat silly, likes jokes and appears to take things seriously. She dislikes irresponsibility and loves cleanliness. She's somewhat impatient and likes to be twenty minutes early to whatever meeting she has. A huge nerd and loves to eat, but it doesn't affect her figure since she exercises daily to keep fit.
I'll start ^^
I frowned, staring in confusion at the piece of paper in my hand. I was pretty much clueless, having been terrible with directions. In my defense, this school was huge. Getting lost was inevitable. I sighed, squinting my eyes to get a better look at the map to see where I wandered into.
"Oh," I blinked in realization. "I'm in the East Wing," no wonder I couldn't find the corridor I was supposed to find my class in. I scowled to myself, shaking my head. This was the wrong building. My first class was in the West Wing, which was a long way from here. I sighed. I hate being terrible with directions, especially if I have a map in my hand. Which idiot gets lost even with a map?
The first bell of the day ran, and juniper wasn't even close to her first class. Starting to run through the still crowded hallways, she pushed passed everyone, hoping the teacher wouldn't mind if she was three minutes late. ""hey! Watch where youre going, pip squeak!" An older boy said as he pushed her to the ground, scattering her books everywhere. Juniper was a small girl for her age, and hated being pushed around more than anything. "Listen, dude. If you have a problem with me trying to get to my first class on time, or maybe you have a problem with my height, but you need yo stop. Seriously!"
She said, picking up her stuff and jumping up from the floor. The older boy did not say anything else, he just smirked and walked away. June opened the door to her first class and tiptoed across to an empty seat in the back. "Juniper Berry?" The teacher asked, looking up from her laptop to eye her suspiciously. "Yes," She replied. "You are late to my class! And the first day of school, no less. You will receive homework tonight for your tardiness." She scolded, wagging her finger and going back to her laptop. Juniper blushed a crimson red and leaned over to the girl next to her. "What are we doing?" She asked puzzled.
I was late to class. Figures. Yes, I should’ve used my abilities to get there faster, this school has a policy of forbidding the use of abilities in the first week of school. Stupid, I know. Think about how many students would get to class on time if we were allowed to use our abilities. I blame that old teacher in the hallway who made me stop and help her carry the boxes she was holding. I usually don’t like to blame people, but if she hadn’t stopped me, I would’ve been early to class. Way to wake up early to arrive on time.
Anyway, I am currently standing in the doorway, my face flushed crimson while my teacher, Mr Andrews, was looking at me sternly. He looked quite young, possibly in his twenties, and he was handsome, too, if you liked men with beards. I didn’t like them— beards, I mean. That was a no-go for me.
“Ms Greene, was it?” Mr Andrews raised his brow, his chocolate brown eyes stern as they looked at me. I nodded mutely, praying for my punishment to be small. My teacher sighed and shook his head. “Late on the first day of school, are we?” I opened my mouth to apologize and explain, but he cut me off. “Kids these days, always late. Do you not know the meaning of being punctual? I would have been lenient, but I want to make you an example of what would happen if you’re tardy. Detention, after school. Meet me in my office—“
I decided I didn’t like this teacher.
“Sorry, sir,” I cut him off quietly. “I have a pass.” I walked up to him and slipped the piece of paper in his hand before walking to an empty seat and sitting down next to a friendly looking girl who looked amused.
“Well, then…” my teacher started awkwardly. “I apologize for that. Let’s uh, let’s get started for today!”
"Oy." Laura muttered from the back of the room. Was everyone late today? She seemed to be the only one who had been early, and hadn't been saddled with extra homework or detention. It was crazy- the punishments, not so many tardies. But that was strange too.
"I can't tell you that!" Jasmine argued. "You must tell me your ability." The principal insisted. I handed him the note that my parents had to get signed by the council. He sighed, "Fine but I'm calling your parents." I walked out of the room and speed down the halls on my mom's broom she gave me this year.
Farah looked over at the crowd of people and decided to hurry towards her class. She had a small smile played out on her face, as she thought about her family back home. Her mother had first noticed something was off about her precious baby when she found herself going to the kitchen and getting a cookie for Farah, even though she'd told Farah, no cookie. She'd thought nothing of it until Farah had her sixth birthday party and Farah's father kept giving Farah more cake, even though he'd told her to stop. There were signs, small things, warnings, of her teachers giving her A's on tests where she didn't deserve it, her friends always agreeing on what Farah wanted to do, Farah's uncle buying Farah a new phone when he didn't want to, and who could forget the famous cake incident at her public school, when Farah had somehow persuaded the principal to buy all the students cake. Her parents had prayed, of course, to Allah, and taken her to a masjid many times to make sure she hadn't been branded with the mark of the devil. They decided in the end that Farah's ability wasn't a curse and instead, a gift from Allah. When the letter for a magic school arrived, her parents requested that she be allowed to pray during her prayer times, which of course, the school agreed to. Farah had been so excited! People like her! But now, as she walked the foreign hallway of this strange school, she wondered if she didn't belong here after all.
When Ivory got freed from the clutches of her first class, she breathed a sigh of relief. She was smart, yes, but she hated Chemistry with a passion. She didn't understand why people were so into atoms and elements and compounds, but then again, she was interested in things other people would find weird, so she wasn't one to complain.
Ivory always had problems making a friend. She was intelligent and often ended up clinging to reality, which made her feel different from everyone else. The fact that she was a magical being didn't exactly help, either. Ivory remembered the first time she had shapeshifted; she was four and she had turned into a rat. She was in kindergarten, school of the normies. Thankfully, she was alone when it happened. Unfortunately, her teachers freaked when they couldn't find her and she ended up being in trouble when she finally transformed back and walked out of the bathroom. The little kids steered clear after her disappearing fiasco; after that, Ivory found herself being unable to make new friends. Her human parents also seemed to keep their distance from her, so when she got an opportunity to get away from that lifestyle.
When Ivory entered her classroom, she flopped down carelessly onto a seat and pulled out her phone. Psychology had always been a favorite subject of hers, so she was looking forward to this class. She found it interesting, the way people worked and how their thoughts ranged from one thing to another. Five minutes later, the classroom began to fill up and Ivory put her phone away when the teacher came inside.
"All right," the teacher began, her stern eyes glaring at everyone in the room. "Time for attendance."
As Jasmines teacher was taking role she pulled out her phone, a gift from one of her human friends. When she looked up everyone was staring at her like she had just grown killed somebody. (Is this okay with everybody? I don't mind deleting it, I just thought it could be interesting.)
(The fact that they haven't seen a phone? Yeah, that's okay. It just means they lived separately from humankind and that they haven't seen technology. I don't mind.)
