@Kinarymo

After the ravaging storm that swept across the sea and land, there were many things left in need of repair. Several houses had lost their roofs and a couple of boats were left without sails - one of them even sank half way. Never before in thirty years had a storm this violent taken place in the peaceful bay and territory of the kingdom.

While many people were busy fixing the damage that had been done, word came that the giant waves that had crashed against the cliffs had tossed many sea creatures on the beach.
The ruler of the land had no interest in gathering fish, yet she was on the shore evaluating the damages, when the discovery was made.

Lillian walked along the shore, looking at the ruined ships and dead animals on shore. She winced, this would take a while to clean up. Climbing onto a rock, Lillian stood and looked around seeing if she could find anything salvageable. But no luck was to be had until she noticed a human-like figure, unconscious on the sand.

@Kinarymo

What had caught her attention was the fact the figure appeared to be bright white, contrasting against the dark rock beside it.
Approaching, the figure's shape became more clear - it was lying face down, the torso clearly human looking, except it's bottom half ended in a fish tail instead of legs. It must have been laying there for some time, as thin lines of salt crust were visible on the thing's skin and hair, and the fish tail looked dry, the scales having lost their shine.

A mermaid.

Such a creature was often heard of in stories told in inns or other places - scaled, ugly monsters of the deep who resembled humans in shape and appearance, but who harboured dark intentions, never hesitating to drag unsuspecting sailors to their watery graves. But when sailors managed to capture such a creature, tales said their flesh was a rare delicacy.

This mermaid's face was hidden under the mess of long curly hair, turned stringy from all the dried sea salt. Judging from the dry state of its body, it looked dead but upon a more careful inspection, very faint movements of the ribcage could be seen - it was still alive!

Lillian lightly gasped at the sight of the mermaids tail, A real mermaid! She thought to herself. She saw the rise and fall of his ribcage and lightly poked his body with her foot.

@Kinarymo

(Lol, everyone be poking him with their foot first lmaoo)

The mermaid didn't move at being poked, it's fingers being the only thing that lightly flexed, squeezing the sand in its hand with the little strength it had left. The tiny whimper that escaped the creature's mouth went basically unheard by anyone, that's how weak it was.

A lone seagull landed near the two, cautiously approaching the dry mermaid, inspecting it for a little bit with one eye before pecking at its tail a couple of times, trying to break through the scales. As it was, the mermaid didn't have enough energy to try and drive the bird away, the only thing keeping the winged creature from attacking more seriously being the girl standing next to the body of the mermaid.

Judging by the hair, it looked female - didn't sailors report fish ladies with long locks flowing in the wind? But then again, other stories suggested they wore their hair long to create a kind of beautiful illusion that masked their true fish like faces. Whatever the stories told, this was the moment to confirm or debunk them

"Shoo, shoo." Lillian commanded to the seagull and waved it off. She looked back at the mermaid and frowned at its dry state. Maybe it needs to go back in the water. She thought and reached down carefully to pick the mermaid up.
