Gij straightened up hastily, wondering what had caused the sudden shift. He gve a tiny nod anyway and scrambled after Charlie, making sure he didn’t knock anything over in the process.
Gij straightened up hastily, wondering what had caused the sudden shift. He gve a tiny nod anyway and scrambled after Charlie, making sure he didn’t knock anything over in the process.
Charlie led Gij through the house, pointing at several routes that also lead to the kitchen as he rounded the corner and popped out of the hallway. The kitchen was a nice size with a small dining area that opened into the living room. The floor was of dark brown tiles that didn't creak when Charlie walked across them to place his groceries on the middle island counter. "If you continue down that hallway, you'll run into two bedrooms with connected bathrooms. The one on the left is mine. You can crash in the bedroom on the right."
Gij nodded a little, shifting his grip on the dragon pup. “Er… do you have a fireplace or heater?” He glanced around the kitchen, shifting his weight slightly as he did so.
"I have a heater disguised as a fake fireplace in the living room. This way," Charlie walked through the kitchen and dining room to turn the corner into the living room. He walked up to the fake fireplace and changed the settings to a warmer temperature. Fake flames lit up the front panel as it kicked on.
Gij tailed after him a few steps back and watched as he kicked it on.
“Okay, thank you.” Gij shifted slightly. “What did you say your name was?”
(Beep beep)
(thanks…)
"Charles. Charles Winston. Though you can just call me Charlie," He stood back from the heater, giving plenty of room for Gij and the baby dragon. "Make yourselves comfortable," Charlie nodded to Gij before disappearing into the kitchen again to put away the groceries he left out.
Gij nodded and sat down on the couch. He glanced around and pulled the sweater away from the pup’s head. It was more or less a puppy (in size and approximate weight). It was a sleek dark-blue with emerald colored eyes with a bright green tongue lolling out of its mouth. It had two small horns protruding from its head that was a light blue. It yapped softly when Gij revealed it.
“Are you okay, Sobex?” Gij asked it gently, rubbing it’s head.
Charlie paused rather dramatically in the kitchen, making his movements stop completely. "You named the dragon Sobex?" he called incredulously from the kitchen to Gij. He slowly went back to putting the groceries away into the fridge, scowling to himself. He began to mutter to himself, "Could've named it Spot or Trixie or Oreo or some dog-like name but instead he names it 'Sorbex'?!"
Gij huffed. “You can’t name a dragon a dog name. They’re two totally different things.”
Sobex yapped softly and nuzzled Gij’s chin. The pup seemed to like Gij a lot.
"Well yeah, but you could've chosen a name, oh I don't know, a little less conspicuous. Hmm?" Charlie criticized jokingly from the kitchen, almost dropping a bag of lettuce in the process but catching it before it landed.
Gij rolled his eyes. “Conspicuous. Brilliant. Of course, I should name a very un-dog-like thing Spot and get it over with. They won’t think otherwise.”
Sobex yapped as the lettuce was caught smoothly. It seemed to like how swiftly Charlie had caught it.
Charie chuckled at the guy's sarcasm as he placed the lettuce in the crisper drawer of the fridge. Only then did he look away at the baby dragon after it yapped at him. "You like that?" He asked the pup curiously as he took up a bag of various fruits to place on the top shelf.
Sobex shifted and crawled out of Gij’s arms, sniffing the couch. His tail was as long as he was, and he had little unclawed nubs as paws. He yapped in response to Charlie’s question, thumping his tail, already happy in his new area.
Charlie smiled to himself, What a cutiepie… he cooed in his head at the baby dragon moving around. He quickly shook his head and pushed his glasses back up on the bridge of his nose and went back to putting away the last of the groceries. "So… what does Sobex eat? I have lunch meats and half a gallon of milk. Also, what do you eat?"
Gij rubbed Sobex’s back gently, who yapped happily at the attention.
“Sobex’ll eat anything. He’s an omnivore, but I like to call him a pannivore.” He chuckled. “I’ll eat whatever too, I don’t care.”
(It’s Sobex, without an r.)
(ah. sorry. finger slipped)
Charlie cleared his throat as he realized the innuendo of the sentence. "Alright then, how do you like your sandwiches?" He asked as he kept the lunch meats out and took out some condiments before closing the fridge door and heading over to the pantry for some bread.
“Don’t care either. Just hungry.” Gij sighed and stroked Sobex gently again, who yapped and thumped his tail. He danced around the couch, waving his tail about.
"Alrighty then. You're both getting the works," Charlie nodded as he pulled out a bag of sourdough bread onto the counter. He quickly fixed up three of the same sandwiches of turkey, ham, and salami with mayo, ketchup, and mustard with a sprinkling of cheese, olives, and pickles before walking over to Gij and serving the two the amazing sandwiches, placing one plate down on the ground for Sobex. "Hope you like it."
(as you can tell, I'm kinda hungry atm)
(xD)
Sobex yapped loudly, thumping his tail unhappily on the couch. He whined loudly as well, looking up at Charlie with wide eyes.
Gij picked up the sandwich and dug in immediately, humming genty as the tasty mix of ingredients tickled his tongue.
(i just ate food finally oml i still wish I had what they're having though lmao)
"Go on. I made you one too," Charlie cooed gently at Sobex, pointing with his hand and tapping on the plate for the baby dragon. "C'mon. This one is yours, just like his."
Sobex whined loudly and scratched his nubs on the couch. He thumped his tail unhappily and yapped sadly up at the ceiling.
“He’s a bit of a coward,” Gij pointed out with a gentle laugh. “He has a good reason, though.” He carefully picked Sobex up and set him on the ground.
"Fair enough. Here, I'll walk away," Charlie slowly backed away from the plate and back into the kitchen before sitting down on the ground to make himself appear smaller to the baby dragon. He arranged himself to sit criss-cross on the floor, but accidentally dropped his glasses in the process. "Dammit not again…" he muttered as he reached forward to retrieve them.
Sobex sniffed at the sandwich, and jumped high in the air when Charlie cussed under his breath. Sobex gave fearful whines and jolted under the couch. They could hear him whining there, too.
