Halo walks around, making sure to avoid the dead corpses. He gulps softly, his eyes searching the area as he sighs softly.
Bastian pressed a few buttons, and the trolley suddenly rumbled to life. He made a sort of "aha" noise before looking back at Halo
Halo seemed almost spaced out, his eyes somewhere else. He looks towards Bastian after a second.
"Just find a seat, I'll get this thing going," Bastian told him with a soft smile
Halo nods and sits down. He looks around, feeling as if he was being watched.
Bastian fiddled with the controls before the trolley slowly pulled out of the rubble it was previously encased in. It began to move along the streets, plowing its way through corpses and rubble
Halo starts, his eyes going wide. He looks at Bastian curiously.
"Yeah, I used to work on the trolleys. I was a mechanic," Bastian explained. His father had helped write up the designs for them, and of course, that meant he had worked on them as well
Halo nods, "Bastian? H-how did I get here?"
"My necklace," Bastian answered. "It acts like a link to Lonakke. All the Honuki have a link from when they died."
Halo bites his lip and nods, looking down.
So how should we go about this. Happy hers injured, can't get away fast enough… But how does he get injured?//
(well, I was going to have the Honoki pop up in the middle of the tracks in a sec, and maybe Halo accidentally freaks out and it sees him and hurts him before Bastian can get them away)
Bastian looked around warily, feeling more and more nervous. They were reaching the outskirts of the main city, which was evident from how the buildings began to look older and older
(That works)
Halo watches, his clear orbs alert and nervous. He taps a rhythm on his knees.
The trolley suddenly lurched to a stop in front of a pile of rubble. They were in front of a gnarled and twisted bridge, the buildings looking blackened and dripping almost as if they were melting. There was a large cloud of dust beneath the broken bridge, and out of it they could catch a glimpse of something moving
Halo gulps. "Bastian, what is that?" He whispers. His eyes are wide and filled with fear. He didn't know what to expect. He didn't know what to do. He felt fear, and he was drowning in it.
"I think it's the Honoko," Bastian breathed out, his voice hushed as he spoke. He slowly got to his feet, eyes trained on the billowing cloud of dust
Halo could only sit there, frozen in fear. He gulps softly, his eyes on the cloud. "Wh-what do we do?" He whispers.
"Stay here, and stay still. I'm going to go look and see if it's the Honoko, and if you have any intrusive thoughts that involve running away, run," Bastian said before stepping out of the trolley
He nods, trembling a little as he watches Bastian. "Be safe…" He whispers. He gulps softly, his eyes going back to the cloud of dust, biting his lip harshly.
Bastian nodded, walking towards the broken bridge carefully. There was a noise like metal rattling dully against itself the closer he got to the top of the split bridge
Halo watches with wide eyes, his breathing uneven. He was so scared. He wasn't sure what to do, how to act. He was only frozen with fear.
Bastian eventually came upon the top of the broken suspension bridge. As soon as he reached it the scraping sound stopped, and the cloud of dust began to slowly settle. Bastian's nose wrinkled as he was hit with the stench of death
Halo slowly exits the trolley so he could get a better view of Bastian. His breathing shakes as he stands there, holding his hands to his chest in fear.
Bastian watched as the dust cleared to reveal an enormous monster lying in what looked like a deep, dry river. Though instead of dirt at the bottom, there was layer upon layer of corpses smashed down into what looked like an attempt at bedding. Standing in the deep pit was the Honoko, which was a pale, sickly green. It resembled a traditional Chinese dragon, but good portions of its long body were ripped open to expose an empty body save for its bones
