Aeron sat stood in front of the fire he had quickly lit before speaking quietly, “Teach me how to read and write again…”
"You– What?" she asked confused
“Read and write…in the common tongue…” He stayed with his back to the fire.
“I—ok. When do you want to start?” She asked still shocked.
“Tomorrow, after…after you’ve slept…” He sighed and ran a hand over his face, “I-I know it’s a stupid request, to teach me how to read and write.”
“ o no! It is just surprising that you don’t know how to read or wrote.” She said softly then yawned “I’ll be going to bed now,” she said and got up “good night!” And walked to her room, shutting the door.
Aeron sighed and sat down, watching the fire for a while before deciding to put it out, the flame reminding him of Bowen. He turned off all the other lights and heded to bed himself.
(Time skip till morning?)
(Sure!)
Aeron was up early that morning again, testing his wings again from the injures. They were a little sore but working fine again.
Olivia was up and went into the forest to look for any berries and rabbits. She came home to see Arron awake “your up earlier than I thought, I haven’t started breakfast!” She said and moved towards the kitchen.
“Oh, um yeah…I was just making sure the wings were fine..” He said, extending them and bringing them in a few times.
She went and turned in the stove then started to make oatmeal and tea, “well I can bandage them up again after.” She said then took out some plates and cups.
“Oh, thank-you.” He drew them in close and gently sat down/
She took out some oatmeal and put it in the plates then pushed a plate full of sweet berries in front of him, “berries?” She asked
He took a few and nodded in thanks. He watched her while she was made the tea for a little while then stared at the bookcase. Over half were books he hadn’t read as he didn’t know how to read or write in the common tongue. The others were written in his native language, those he could read.
Olivia brought the kettle over and poured some tea out for him then herself. She followed his gaze to the bookshelf “I want to make a deal with you.” She said sipping her tea
“Which is?” He said, holding the cup in hand.
"I'll teach you to read and write if you teach me to read your language." She asked nervously. She liked learning new things since her father was against female education
Aeron thought for a moment, thinking about whether or not to accept. But…. she’d helped him already, “I accept. It might take a while though.”
"Sure! I can teach you first, speaking of which I am going to organize your house a little so that I know where everything is." She said. She got up and put the dishes in the sink. "I also want to go hunting later, do you mind if I go?" she asked him
“N-no, I don’t mind. But be careful, I don’t what Bowen to talk you away again.” he said looking at the fire pit.
Olivia goes to her room and changes into something more flexible. she comes out and starts to sort all the things in the kitchen
Aeron stood and removed his shirt, feeling very warm all of a sudden. He walked over to the bookcase, “What me to put the books in my language in one pile and the common tongue in another?” He asked.
Olivia looked up and blushed. She quickly looked back down and nodded her head.
“Okay.” He set to work. He placed all the books in his language in one pile, and the books he couldn’t understand on the other. There was a fairly even amount of books in each. Aeron couldn’t help but flick though a few of his dragon books, quickly skim reading the symbols in each.
