"Alright, so we have fifteen new satellites that weren't there yesterday. Pros: We have much better internet and WiFi than ever, Cons: The satellites seem to be indestructible, and also are transmitting a second frequency. We don't know what it is, but it seems potentially a threat." Mara said, flipping open a laptop and giving Halo a visual on the satellites.
Halo inspects the information, his eyes narrowing. "These don't look like our satellites, nor any that I can think of…" His eyes narrow. "We don't know the second frequency… is it possible that we can try and decode the frequency, see what happens when introduced to different things?" he asks curiously.
"No shit, Sherlock." Mara barked. "You don't think anyone tried that already?"
He glares at her, then back at the frequency. He hums in concentration, before leaning back, his eyes narrowed. "This doesn't make any sense…" He mutters quietly. "They just… appeared?" He asks, "That's not even logically possible…"
"Only an idiot would deny the evidence before their own eyes." Mara scolded.
"Thank you very much, but I'm trying to think about what caused them, how they got here, and why here of all places…" he mutters quietly. This doesn't look right, and the satellites gave him shivers. He stands and begins to pace, trying to think.
"Honestly, it must be so boring inside your funny little brains."
He glares at the female, his eyes narrowed. "Honestly, get your head out of the clouds, you're no better than he rest of us." he sighs, rolling his eyes. He continues his pacing, his hand resting on his chin. He isn't sure what he should do. He could only control what was in the atmosphere. He controlled air, not space. So why'd they drag him in with this stuck up prick?
"I'm not a stick up prick, you know. And your powers obviously wouldn't work in space, idiot!" Mara said
He looks at her, an eyebrow raised. "Unless I made an air tunnel, but that could break the barrier… but that would kill me if I did that… So it would have to be a worst case scenario…" He mutters softly. He groans in frustration. "Our only chance to find out more about these things is to actually go and explore it…"
"Yeah, or I could be brilliant and figure out just now that the second frequency isn't supposed to be affecting technology." Mara said, leaning back in her chair.
"I mean so we can find a weakness. The frequency seems to be affecting human brain cells…" he mutters, shaking his head, "It's making tech stronger, yes…" He sighs softly, continuing to pace. "Some suggestions would be helpful." He glares at the other. "You're supposed to be helping me anyways. This is your planet too."
"No, not human brain cells. Come on, think!" she shouted.
"Supernatural? Animals?" He asks, glancing at the other, his hair falling into his eyes.
"No, it isn't affecting brain cells at all, more the environment. It's terraforming the planet to make it ready for something."
"Ready for what is the question…" He mutters softly. "Why would the world need to change in order to prepare for something?" He asks, his pacing continuing.
"Give it your best guess, if your tiny human mind fries from the strain I'm sure I can find a replacement, you are all so very expendable." Mara said.
"An invasion?" He guesses, really pissed off at his partner. "So are you, you do realize that? You're not above us. You're Expendable." Halo shakes his head.
"Moi? Expendable? Hardly."
"Sad to break it to ya, princess, but you are." he rolls his eyes, before tapping his chin. He chews on his lip, thinking.
"Either way, who cares how many people die as long as we save the grand majority?" Mara asked, casually checking her nails.
He stares at her, before lunging, he grabs her shoulders, "Don't you get it? Our entire civilization is going to survive based on our decisions, so get your head out of the clouds and focus!" He snaps.
"Will caring about them help save them? No, so I won't bother to make that mistake again!" Mara growled.
He hisses, "At least have empathy! These are innocent lives at stake!" He growls.
"To truly save lives, you have to be a cold calculating bastard that would rather keep the world save than one insignificant individual." Mara hissed.
