Rose ran a hand through his white, shaggy hair. “I don’t know how to really babysit. I’ve never even interacted with a little kid!”
Rose ran a hand through his white, shaggy hair. “I don’t know how to really babysit. I’ve never even interacted with a little kid!”
(Hey, I just want to give a heads up that tomorrow I'm leaving for camp, and I'll probably be back around the sixth/seventh, so I won't be able to post during that time)
"Really? I can't seem to stop interacting with them," Alec said, surprised.
(Alright, have fun!)
“Because of baby sitting? Or do you walk up to one and start talking? I’ve figured out that their guardians don’t really like when you do that,” Rose rambled on, remembering how a human woman scolded him for approaching her young daughter.
(Well, I'm finally back from camp)
"Yeah, most people are going to think you're a creep if you do that." Alec laughed. "I mostly see kids because of babysitting. My brother's always bringing his friends over, and even when he doesn't I still have to pick him up from school, so I see plenty of them then."
(And now I am back from vacation, I think I left the day you got back lol)
Rose's mouth went into an 'o' as he nodded slowly in understanding. "How do you take care of them?" he asked. If Alec was willing to talk to hum about this, then he would get his shares worth out of this interaction.
"Well, mostly I just ignore them. It's sounds bad, but they always do their own thing, so I'm not really going to stop them." Alec said, thinking. "Other times, I do what they want to an extent. When my brother and his friends were younger, I'd tell them stories to keep them from burning the house down, but now they just watch TV or play on the computer. My job is really only to make sure they eat food and avoid death."
"That sounds easy enough. I'm sure it's a lot of fun," Rose hummed as a smile formed onto his lips. Maybe he could try and take care of little human children. But they didn't live long, like dogs. He didn't understand having a pet that would just die in around 10 years.
"I guess." Alec said, smirking. "It'd probably be easy for someone as charming as you."
"Charming?" Rose repeated, his cheeks going a shade of pink again. "I've never thought of myself as charming before," he continued softly.
Alec smiled. Though he had just met him, he knew he liked seeing Rose blush, especially when he was the cause of it. "I guess the truth comes out in random, everyday moments."
He reached into his backpack (that his creator has suddenly added for convenience's sake) and pulled out a pen and a scrap of paper from his notebook. He scribbled his number down quickly, before holding the paper out to Rose. He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "I kind of have to go to some party now, but here's my number. Text me, I guess?"
Rose looked down at the paper, then back up at Alec, before taking the paper from him. They would continue the conversation again? He guessed that was a good thing. And text- what did that mean again? You text on one of those smartphones. I need to get a smartphone now, he thought. "I'll text you," he responded with a warm smile.
Alec smiled. "Bye for now then," he said, getting up and starting to walk away. He waved to Rose as he left before moving back onto the path and out of the park.
(Should we skip to the next day?)
(Yeah, we can)
The next morning, Rose was up bright and early, sitting in some coffee shop. He didn't feel the need to sleep or drink, so he would have had no need for coffee. But, he loved the smell of it, so he was sat in a chair towards the front, staring down at his smartphone that was rested on the table in front of him. He had to purchase it last night, and because technology was always changing, he had no idea what to get for himself. Luckily, with the help of a middle aged human woman, he was able to find something that he would be able to text Alec on. After a moment, he had managed to figure out how to send a message to his number: Alec, this is Rose. How are you?
Alec heard his phone buzz on the other side of the room, and he groaned. It was early, he was slightly hungover, and his roommate had already gotten him pissed by going into a rant about how he was too young to be drinking alcohol. He wasn't really in the mood to be dragged into some drama on a group chat he was added in, but on the off chance that it was something important, he couldn't ignore it. He groaned again.
He forced himself out of bed and picked up the phone, wincing at the bright screen. He had a new text from an unknown number. He opened the text, a small blush finding its way to his cheeks as he did so.
Aside from having a splitting headache, fine. What about you? He texted back.
Rose was pleased with how quickly Alec responded, a smile working it's way onto his lips. Alec said his head hurt. And splitting? Was his head split open? I am very good. Is your head OK? he responded.
Yeah, I'm just hungover. I went to a party yesterday, and I may or may not have had one too many drinks. Alec responded, running a hand through his hair. He walked towards the bathroom and blindly reached for the Advil bottle in his medicine cabinet while ignoring his roommate's snickers behind him.
(dies)
(Oh gosh, sorry! I guess I forgot to respond to this)
Oh. You didn’t seem old enough to drink when I met you, Rose typed out before sending it. He was terrible with guessing ages. Then again, he was over one thousand years old, and he looked like he could be in his mid to late teens.
Alec smiled to himself as he responded. I'm not. He typed into the phone. But nineteen year olds have to have fun somehow, right? He swallowed the pill with a glass of water before walking over to the couch and flopping on top of it.
Rose shifted, glancing up when he saw a small family walk into the coffee shop. I don’t think I’ve ever tried alchohol before, he sent before thinking about it. He could try it, if he really wanted to.
Alec's mouth twisted into a fond smile. Rose seemed too innocent for his own good. Maybe we can meet up sometime and change that. He typed out hesitantly, before pressing send. Or we can just get coffee he sent after quickly.
I could try alcohol, Rose sent, knowing really nothing about the drink. when are you free?, he messaged again, running a hand along his smooth jaw.
(Sorry I didn't respond sooner, today's my mom and sister's birthday and the three of us are participating in this scavenger hunt type thing, so we've been doing things like making a bluebird costume and painting a picture with our noses)
Alec blushed, thinking about his schedule. He was free today, but he wasn't really in the mood to go out- or move much at all. Tomorrow, I'm pretty sure. We can go out for coffee or catch a movie, considering I doubt either of us are actually old enough to drink legally.
(That’s all good, and that sounds fun lol)
Considering Rose didn’t need to eat or drink really, he thought that seeing a movie would be a better idea. Tomorrow works, and a movie sounds nice, he texted, shifting in his seat a tad before sending a follow up message. I didn’t think that you cared if drinking was legal, you said you do it anyways.
Only at parties and stuff, and my roommate always yells at me for it the next day. Alec typed out. See you tomorrow then? He pressed send.
(Do you want to time skip to the next day)
