"You okay Zoe?" Cicada asked her, "I don't exactly know what happened to you, but you did shout a lot."
"You okay Zoe?" Cicada asked her, "I don't exactly know what happened to you, but you did shout a lot."
"I saw something, no one should ever see." She hardly whispered in a hoarse voice. She looked as if she was in a daze. If you looked closely, you could see the sadness and sorrow and pain.
Cicada nodded. She recognized the pain in Zoe's eyes, "Can I hug you?"
She stiffly nodded and she hugged the girl. Then she broke down. It was too much for her to take. Her heart ached inside like it was about to break. Deaths replayed before her mind behind them was all her failures and fears and horrid sights.
Orion spoke softly, echoing someone from before. "We are being trained. Refuse compliance. It will not be rewarded. Lapdogs get treats, but guard dogs?" Here he pauses for a moment, gives a feral grin not his own. "Well, guard dogs get kills."
"Are you going to help us?" Cicada asked her.
"Hell Yeah"
Jamie sat down, thinking of his family and friends back on HH~43754. He looked around, trying to keep thoughts about Luke, Ryan, Oliver, Elijah, and his sisters out of his head. "This entire situation is quiet as death." He said, dropping his head in his hands.
(Quiet as death is a saying where he's from, it means something really big/unfair or something that leaves a lasting effect)
Orion looks at Jamie almost sadly before replying. "No. No. Here. Here it is loud as death."
Cicada hugged Zoe back, "I got you. It's okay I got you."
~~~
Shade's consciousness faded in and out. Her breathing seemed to quicken as she muttered, "Someone. Anyone. Help us. Please. He's coming and he wants me dead."
Jamie looked up. "That's what the saying means. It's sarcastic, it means something really loud or big or unfair." He put his head back down after.
"Thank you." She whispered and hugged her back.
Orion shakes his head, once again says that it is loud as death. Going over to Shade, he props her up against him. "He isn't here now. It's okay. Wake up. You're safe with me. I've got you. Wake up for me Shade, please. Gotta make sure that you're alright."
Shade jolted awake. Her breathing was labored and she looked at Orion with wide eyes.
With kind eyes he returns her gaze, the warmth of him against her. "Breathe. Easy now. I'm here. He's gone. We'll get your brother back. Now you need to breathe for me, okay?"
Shade nodded. She forced her breathing to become even. She looked down at her hands, "I lost him again. I lost it again. Why? Why does he do this to me?"
Orion looks up at the ceiling and sighs. "Can't answer that. People do things for strange reasons, but after all of this is over, you both can come to the Haven if you wish."
Shade nodded, "That would be great."
Orion's smile is broad. "Anyone is welcome there, especially people with rough pasts. You'll fit right in."
John woke to Sherlock's violin playing. "How the hell did you get in here?" he shouted. Sherlock replied, "The door was unlocked, idiot."
((Wait heck what's happening?))
((Wait heck what's happening?))
(Sherlock woke John up and wants him to investigate the area with him is what I was intending.)
((Oh ok thank you))
Shade nodded leaning against him, "Oh you don't even know half of what we've been through. We'll do more than just fit right in."
Orion shrugs. "Maybe not, but I can learn. I can at least tell that you've been hurt, badly. That maybe you want somewhere without all of the pressures here. Somewhere to learn and grow as a person, not an object, not a pawn." He speaks as if from experience.
Shade looks at him. She stood up putting back up her facade, "A pawn please. I'm the queen."
She faltered, "But in all honesty I think that's what I need."
