Kalei laid down on the shore a bit limply, struggling for a breath as she coughed out a bit of water, opening her deep-set blue eyes in an attempt to focus on the boy in front of her. "What…what happened?" She asked, her voice coming out as a mumble and a bit hoarse from the salt water. She felt her leg sting and reached down slowly, feeling something warm pour over her fingers.
"Shark got you… mischievous little things, aren't they? But you are alive, correct?" Part of Dennis's tail was still in the water, but most of it was visible. He had forgotten his own wounds and fear of humans for the timebeing, seemingly worried about Kalei.
"I think I'm alive…hopefully. Unless I suddenly die in a few moments, though that would be quite a tragedy," Kalei mumbled, trying for a small joke as she propped herself up on her elbows, glancing towards Dennis's tail before looking back to meet his gaze. She attempted to move her leg, but for now, it felt a bit numb. "Are you alive too?" Kalei asked, shifting in her spot as she studied the merman's sea green eyes for a few moments.
"Yes, of course. I had a shark encounter myself, but it was purposeful. Anyhow, your… leg seems to be in a bad way." He seemed to forget the word for it in the moment. His hair somehow still managed to have volume and be rather fluffy despite having been in the ocean. It seemed to be water resistant or something of the like.
"I'm sure it's just a small cut," Kalei answered, feeling a bit dizzy as she laid back against the sand, rubbing her eyes in order to keep them open. She felt too drowsy to ask about Dennis's tail as well, her mind deciding that mermen were daily, normal occurrences for humans.
"Er, not exactly…" Dennis examined the wounds. "They're deep, but not bad. I don't think it'll be infected, but you should do whatever people do to prevent that just in case." He got some seaweed and wrapped it tightly around Kalei's leg. "That should stop the bleeding for now."
Astra was walking around, looking for Kalei when she saw some traces of blood in the water and Kalei laying on the sand with a boy wrapping seaweed around her leg. "Oh my gosh Kalei are you ok?!" Astra exclaimed as she took a medic bag and ran down to them.
Darren nodded, “Yeah this place is better. Than I thought it would be,”
Tara nodded. "Okay, cool! What would you like to do now?"
Abby pulled back just as Emerald was about to suck her milk. "Sorry, girl!" Abby apologized, but she looked at Darren warmly. "Do you want to try feeding Em?"

"Th…thanks," Kalei mumbled, rubbing her eyes to stay awake as she tried a half smile for Dennis. She pushed herself up slightly at Astra's voice, the movement triggering a brief pang of pain in her leg, though she ignored it. "This lovely person helped me…I'm just grand." She sighed, laughing softly which hinted at how she was a bit delirious.

Darren’s eyes widened,”Uhh Yeah! Sure!”
Abby grinned and held the bottle out to Darren. "Just hold it in the water. She'll come to you," she instructed.
Darren took the bottle nervously and did as he was instructed, “Like this?” Before she could answer the dolphin was already there.
Tara laughed. "You're doing perfectly Darren." Tara encouraged.

"I'm going to call the ambulance, so wait and here's the med kit." Astra replied before giving her friend the med kit and calling the medics. "Did you get bitten by a shark?" Astra asked as she covered the phone.
"A shark…," Kalei repeated, reaching down towards her wound as she propped herself up to look at it clearly. "It was dark. Don't you think that's kind of rude to do? Sharks can't just go around biting people," she laughed, clearly delirious and losing consciousness as she looked up towards Dennis and Astra.
Astra wrapped a bandage around Kalei's leg. "You're starting to become like me so I'm not sure if that's good or bad." In the distance, you could hear ambulance sirens wailing as people started to come over.
"What is an ambulance? Who are you?" Dennis asked Astra, moving a bit out of the way.
"I'm Astra, best friend and Co-Worker……what do you mean you don't know what an ambulance is?" She gave him a weird look as the medics rushed over to check on her friend.
"It's where they put you in a car and try to keep you alive…mostly for emergencies," Kalei answered groggily, pushing herself up as she began to hear the sirens as well. She had always disliked doctors as well, but right now she didn't have much of a choice.
