(So right now, the lightning bolt's hitting the school?)
There was the sound of shattering glass echoing throughout the school, and everything was surrounded by a bright light before being plunged back into silence. The creatures were gone, but the school had been struck by lightning, and everyone was either unconscious, or dead.
Sam was one of the first to wake up, still clutching the window pole that they had used to beat the monsters back. "What.. happened?" they groaned, feeling their head throb as they tried to sit up. Unbeknownst to them, their eyes flashed amber for a minute, then turned back to their regular dark brown.
Jamie woke up after them, his body feeling unnaturally cool. He pulled his leg out from underneath the broken library door, and looked around. "I…. don't know. I can't remember,"
"There were these…things, and-" Sam had a vivid image of something with large teeth leaping at them, and they shuddered. "Yeah, no. Let's not talk about it anymore,"
Maggie woke up to the sound of people talking. She couldn't remember anything from the previous day, other than the blackout, and huge inky creatures roaming around the library, hurting or killing people. She had been bit by one, right on her calf. The one that bit her had vividly red eyes, almost like rubies. She thought it was a dog and tried to pet it. Bad decision. Maggie rubbed her calf with her hand, but couldn't feel the part where the thing had bitten her. She rolled up her sweats to check, but everything was normal, in fact, she felt better than she had in weeks and her nose was no longer stuffy. She crawled out of the table and walked towards the two kids near the back of the library. She somehow felt a pull towards them, like a magnet, as if they needed her help.
Eleanor crawled out from under the rubble. “Leon?” She called, as he was the only person in the library that she knew.
Jamie shivered. "It's freezing in here," he choked out. He had crawled out from under the doors, but instead of his probably broken leg hurting, it just felt unnaturally numb.
She turned around and rushed to him. "Are you okay? I heard you scream."
"I-I don't know. I was out in the hallway talking to a teacher an-and then then those things broke into the school. I ran in here but they broke through- and they were attcking people and-" Jamie was rambling at this point. He was close to having a panic attack. "I was under the door and the thing grabbed me and then it all went dark."
“Hey, Hey,” Eleanor said, crouching down in front of him. “Calm down. It’s okay. They’re gone now. No one’s hurt as far as I know.l
Jamie stiffened. "It's dark outside," he said looking at the window. "It was the middle of the day, why is it dark out now?"
There were voices coming from the hallway. They sounded like adults, each one screaming about needing to find the missing students.
She looked up. “Teachers. We can ask them what’s going on. And maybe it’s dark cause we were all out for longer than we thought.”
The sound of sirens wailing broke through the room. The voices grew louder, and some of them were yelling things like "police". A man dressed in a police uniform appeared at the place where the library doors had been and screamed, "I FOUND SOME OF THE KIDS!"
“We’re not… missing? I mean, did they not think some of us would be in the library?” She asked confusedlt
Dozens of cops ran into the room. They checked all of the unconscious people, and brought in stretchers for the dead ones. Two approached Jamie and Eleanor, trying to talk to them.
"Can you tell us what happened here?" One of them asked. Jamie glared at them.
"How long has it been since the creatures attacked?" He asked.
“What’s going on? I didn’t even realize there were dead people in here!” She said frustratedly.
"Um… that's what we're trying to figure out," one of the cops told Eleanor. "Did you say that creatures attacked?"
“Yes, it went all dark. I didn’t see any, but someone I was following got thrown by- Wait, where’s Leon?” She asked, turning around.
Annora woke up, her head pounding. "Wha..?" She asked, rubbing her head and getting up. "What happened?"
