(Yay! Hey there Soup Nana!)
The sky was red, deep boiling red, with no traces of its almost constant periwinkle blue. Kayleigh lay on her back and stared at it, puzzling over what could have happened.
She didn't remember much. There was growing panic, the frenzied bustle of evacuation, then the greenish sphere that had dropped from the sky and somehow ended it all. She remembered the shock wave, the screams, the walls of her room breaking. She had been caught up in a current of stone. There had been black, suffocating darkness then.
Kayleigh sighed and fidgeted. She was lying on her back on a piece of concrete in Lapis Square, which was cold and empty and broken now. She had come here, dazed, when she woke up.
She shut her eyes, shooing the images of skeletons out of her mind. She'd passed a lot on her way here.
How long had she been out?
A clatter cut the silence. Adrenaline dumped into Kayleigh's veins; she sat up, instinctively curling into a ball.
But it was just another person. Someone else had survived.
(Any character, jump in here.)
(Ok!)
Theresa groaned and held her head, which was pounding. She couldn't see straight and she ran into a piece of concrete. "Ohh my head…" She groaned and fell to her knees, clutching her head in both of her hands. She didn't see the other person by her as her vision darkened and she passed out.
The girl had just collapsed on the ground and Johna backed away with fear, nearly falling over her fallen bag of groceries. She darted behind the rubble of a building, her ears ringing with the sound of the explosion. Coughing, she tripped over rocks and toppled trashcans, but she didn't stop running. She had to get home. She had to make sure Allia was safe. Her sister would be having a nervous breakdown and Johna wasn't going to leave the little girl by herself. She thought her father may have been with Allia, but she couldn't be sure. He was most commonly sitting on the couch nowadays, and he was hardly ever lucid.
She passed a sign that read '35th Street Northway.' Johna took a sharp turn to the left and found the crumbled remains of her home. She took a tentative step forward, scanning the ruins. She saw a shoe. A small, pink and white shoe, with rainbow shoelaces. Taking no notice of her pounding head or aching limbs, Johna ran to the shoe and lifted a fallen bookcase off of her sister.
Allia seemed so fragile in death, her normally happy face blank and her deep green eyes unseeing. Johna cradled the girl's burnt and broken body in her arms, tears running down her ash covered face. The one person she had truly loved and cared for was now gone, and she was alone. Hopelessly alone.
Through her sobs, she heard someone cry out. She wiped away her tears, and Johna looked around, searching for the source.
(Imma just continue with Theresa over here)
Theresa floated in and out of consciousness. She could feel every one of her cuts and bruises, her twisted ankle and her pounding head. "Help.." She called out weakly to anyone that could hear and she passed back out, unable to bear the pain.
Lata's body currently lay in the middle of a pile of hard rubble, a few bruises beginning to deepen in color along her arms and legs. All she could feel was a subtle throb, ears ringing slightly from the loud explosion. Her heart was beating a mile a minute, unable to move. Her limbs likely would be sore to say the least should she be able to stand. The young teen looked to be passed out due to heavy breathing and eyes closed still. Her mind screamed at her to move but her body refused. A distant cry for help made her mind worry about anyone else around, but she was stuck. Lata mentally cursed at how weak she probably appeared.
Johna swallowed and took one last look at her sister before setting her down on the warm rocks, brushing her knuckles against her lifeless cheek, and setting off to find the source of the voice. It had come from the direction she had just come, so Johna found the sign that read '35th Street Northway' and took a right turn, retracing her footsteps. Rather than running, she slowly scanned the path, checking for any sign of life.
It wasn't until she had reached the place where she had dropped the groceries when she saw the girl who had fallen before. The ringing in her ears has receded, and now she could hear the girl's shaky breathing. She had a bad head wound and it made Johna wonder what her own state must be. However, she didn't look down at herself, too afraid to know how bad she must look. She rather took a tentative step toward the girl. She seemed to be unconscious, and Johna was slightly thankful that she didn't have to speak to the girl.
She wasn't sure what to do, other than just stand there. Not willing to sit there until the girl awoke, Johna went searching for other people.
After picking through the rubble of an abandoned building close by, she found a room with it's walls exploded inward and looking up, she saw Lapis Square. Another girl was on the ground, her clothing and face coated with ash, making it impossible to tell what color her hair was. She moved toward the girl, and she assumed she must be a few years older than Johna. The girl was huddled in a ball, her eyes finding Johna and they filled with surprise. Neither of them spoke for a moment.
Theresa groaned again and shook her head slowly, wincing in pain. She reached up to the back of her head and her hand came back covered in blood, she started crying silently and tried to sit up, her ankle shooting sparks of pain up her leg every time she did. She gave up and collapsed back on the ground, in too much pain to do anything else besides lay there and let her tears stream down her dust covered face.

Kayleigh stared at the girl who had stepped in. The girl stared back.
Awkward, tense silence sank its claws into Kayleigh's shoulders. She tried to shake it off by standing up, but her knees shook and she felt like sitting back down again.
Kayleigh grunted, leaning heavily against a large piece of debris until her legs felt strong enough to move. She then began to walk towards the girl.
"I'm Kayleigh," she said. How funny this was, two people alive - alive - after an explosion that killed so many, introducing each other. It seemed so formal and funny and foolish. "Is there anyone else out there?"
Dean awoke with a loud, high-pitched ringing noise echoing through his ears. He sat up instantly and sucked in through his teeth. He soon realized that he was coated in dust from head to toe, and wrist could not be lifted to his head, leaving Dean believing it was broken. He winced and took a look at his surroundings. Buildings were collapsed and roads were broken.
Like on him, a layer of dust had settled everywhere. A voice broke through the ongoing ringing before Dean has time to register all of this, and he turned to see who had spoken.
“Is there anyone else out there?” A girls voice called.
Dean struggled to his feet and limped in the general direction of the noise.
“Hey, I’m here, the only problem is I don’t know where here is.” He responded weakly.
Theresa heard people talking and she smiled lightly "Hello? anyone there? Can someone help me?" she tried to move her ankle again and sighed sadly, realizing that there was probably no one out there.
(Isn’t your characters name Theresa?)
(XD yup that's a character from a diff rp..I'mma change that to Theresa quick..)
Dean turned midway through his step when he heard another voice. His vision was blurry, but he could make out a figure on the ground. He stepped towards it.
“Hey, I’m here to help. My name’s Dean, it’ll be okay.” He knelt to the ground and spoke to the person. From that distance he could make out a brown-haired girl.
(XD yup that's a character from a diff rp..I'mma change that to Theresa quick..)
(Okie XD)
Kayleigh looked the new kid over. He seemed vaguely familiar, but now - he looked lost. She nodded at him. "I'm Kayleigh. I suppose we're still in Lapis, because that's the town square." She nodded behind the kid at the square, at the fountain that was broken now. "Do you think we should see if there are any more survivors?"
