“Eh, just got done reading that book.” He points over the railing behind them. “How about you?”
“Eh, just got done reading that book.” He points over the railing behind them. “How about you?”
"I understand." She smiled, remembering her mom. "So we gonna do the river? I think the trails only s little walk from the school." She bounced on the balls of her feet, suddenly very energetic.
"As long as you're cool with it," Audrey replied with a smile, also energetic, especially since she sat in a desk for several hours a day (oh, the wonder of public schooling). "It sounds like fun!"
"Well lets go!" June started skipping off ans out of the school, making sure she stayed close to Audrey at the same time. "This way." She went left after exiting the school.
“Eh, just got done reading that book.” He points over the railing behind them. “How about you?”
"Sore to say the least," James sighed, "Why were you reluctant to give a chance at this? I know you said something about past relationships but… You don't have to tell me, I'll respect that as your decision."
“Eh, lets just say my last partner, well they’re not in the world of the living anymore.” He puts it very bluntly.
Audrey followed, the butterflies making a home in her stomach in anticipation. It would just be a normal, fun walk…with her soulmate. No matter how many times she thought about that, it still didn't seem quite real. She wanted to hold June's hand, but wondered if it was too soon. They'd just met, after all. She was very excited as she tried to keep up with June.
James blinked, "Wow… that's terrible. I'm sorry." Even though James was happy that the guy wasn't around, if he was then him and Kris wouldn't be talking, he felt it was the right thing to apologise.
“Anyway” Kris claps his hands together. “Want to check out my little abode real quick?”
Reaching the park, June smiled at Audrey. Is it too soon to hold her hand?
"The path is this way. I think." She slowed her pace to walk right next to her soulmate, which still seemed unbelievable.
Audrey smiled when June slowed down to walk next to her. Well, even if they had just met, they were soulmates. Besides, holding hands wasn't that big of a deal. She took June's hand, lacing her fingers between June's, and hoping that she wouldn't think it was weird. "Cool," she replied nervously, her blush returning.
“Anyway” Kris claps his hands together. “Want to check out my little abode real quick?”
James nodded and smiled, "Sure, that sounds great."
Kris gets on top of the railing and climbs down to the concrete support beam. “Come on down, watch your step though, or you might take an unexpected swim.”
James nodded and followed, being extra careful as to not fall into the water bellow them.
Kris finally gets down “So. This is the place I call home.” He out stretches his hands to show his sleeping bag, a book labeled “The Atlantropa Articles”, and a small garbage bag.
"R-Really? This is it?" James swallowed as he looked around then at Kris.
“Dude, yea. That’s it. The years have not been kind to me.” He just then plops down and dangles his feet over the side and just stares blankly into the water.
James sighed and sat down next to him, "I'm sorry, is there anything I can do to help? I'd offer my place but that isn't the best place to stay and I don't want you hurt."
Juniper smiled, curling her fingers up and lacing them through Audrey's. She led her down the trail surrounded by trees, the quiet sound of water finally being heard in the distance, yet Juniper didn't once try to move her hand away from her soulmates.
Kris sighs “dude, I’ve lived down here for almost two years now, it won’t hurt if i continue down here.” He then looks at James. “You want to go walk somewhere?”
"If you want to. And I don't care if you've lived here for two bloody years, it's wrong and I want to help but I don't know how." James sighed and stood.
Kris gets up “The streets are kinder then they look.” He then starts climbing back up.
Audrey walked with June, smiling to herself as the anxiety faded a bit. She breathed in the fresh air and looked around her in wonder at the scenery (though it was hard to tell how much scenery she really saw as much of her looks were aimed towards June). “It’s so peaceful,” she breathed quietly.
James followed then grabbed Kris' hand, "I don't care. No one should have to live like that."
Kris just looked at him “Life ain’t fair, never has and never will be. I just get by with what it kicks my way.” He then looks around “ehh, I guess the park is an ok place to walk.” He then proceeds towards the park.
