Echo walked down the street and into the park. The day was cool and not too bad for being the beginning of the spring. the sun was shining. The birds were singing. And the good children were probably at school or something. Echo sat down on a park bench and started drawing.
(This sounds like it might unfold into something interesting…may I join in?)
Nala was strolling in the park, playing hooky because she didn't feel like doing school today. She saw someone drawing on a park bench and her curiosity won. She sauntered over to the person and peeked over to see what the person was drawing.
Echo had been drawing a sword wrapped around it a bit was vines of ivy. She didn't even notice the person looking over her shoulder at the moment.
"That's cool," Nala said while admiring the strokes that Echo was making.
Echo stopped for a moment and looked at Nala. "Thanks." She said accepting the complement for her art.
"What made you draw that?" Nala was curious. She sat down next to Echo and watched as she continued to draw. Nala started to braid a strand of her short black hair.
"Don't know. Just started drawing it." She replied then went back to her drawing and shading the picture.
"Hmm. Do you have any other sketches?" Nala felt like she had known this person for a long time. She felt so comfortable and normal around her. Maybe because she didn't seem to judge Nala.
"Um. Yeah." She replied then put down her pencil. She usually didn't talk to strangers but this girl seemed nice and like she could be trusting. She opened up a folder and pulled out a few sketches.
"These are good. Ever thought of becoming a tat artist?" Nala suggested. Nala herself had a couple tattoos and wanted to become a tattoo artist.
"No never actually thought about it." She replied. Echo hadn't even ever went to a tattoo parlor.
"You would be good at it," Nala observed. "I'm Nala by the way." she finally introduced herself.
"Thanks. And I'm Echo" she replied and put out her hand to shake hands.
"Pretty name," Nala shook her hand. "Why aren't you in school?" Nala asked curious for her excuse. Nala was just being lazy.
"I skipped." She said smiling a bit then continuing her picture. It was close to done.
Nala smiled, "Same here. Just didn't feel it today." She stopped braiding her hair and admired Echo's drawings a bit more. "Why did you skip school?" Nala asked trying to create small talk.
"I wanted to get more sleep. So I did and when I was awake I decided to go on a walk. What about you?" She asked erasing some of the smaller lines.
"Oh, uh, well, I just am being lazy," Nala grinned. "Tired of school and needed a break." Nala didn't mention actually wanting to get kicked out of school. She wanted a good excuse for not being in school and being kicked from it seemed to be the best option. She now is acting on her worst behavior.
"interesting. So you didn't have other reasons for skipping?" She asked smiling then put her pencil away and looked at Nala.
Nala grinned, "Not a whole lot and nothing interesting." Nala realized that Echo was good at reading people and she needed to be more careful.
Echo nodded and closed her notebook and put her pencil case on top of it. "Well it is almost 1. Soo I think I'm going to get home."
"Alright. I'm not going home, my mom thinks I'm at school," she grinned. Nala sat up and started to walk away.
Echo nodded then walked down the path towards her house. It was a few miles away. And was a pretty long walk.
