"Can we just hop on back?", K broke into a nervous laugh. Then instead of trying he backed away from the water.

Jay grabbed her arm and pulled her back, so she wouldn't fall in. "Careful hot shot."

"I don't know, this doesn't make sense. Why would someone tattoo us? We can't actually be in hell." Cally said, trying not to freak out.
(The aplication error sucks ass)
She jolted from Jay's touch and just let him grab her wrist. He pulled her up and she she held onto his hand, a blank expression in her face, "Hot… Shot?"
Hearing the others talk of tattoos, she lifted her jacket to find the three words imprinted into her arm. "W-What?! This… This isn't funny…"
“Never said it was funny,” Jay said ignoring Lillian’s questioning.
“I mean… it is a little, cause it is only a prank. One…elaborate…prank.” Krishna tried to reason this out but there was no way to find something remotely logical. “People have touched the lake before, right? Like there has to be a time where someone has done this before or the rule wouldn’t be made for no reason.”
"Was there something inside the lake? It felt like we had been dragged under." Cally said, ignoring the constant stream of "Mom's gonna kill me"'s that ran through her head.
Hearing Krishna's words, Rebecca felt silly for feeling scared. She shouldn't be scared! This was the chance of a lifetime. "Exactly! We'll find out. Meanwhile, shouldn't we enjoy the freedom?" she inquired, hopping back up.
"Do you mean.. exploring the town? Do you think the rules still apply here?" Cally asked, looking past the lake and toward the town, which was about fifteen minutes away by walking distance. They would have to walk past the corn fields to get there.
"How could there be rules when it's empty?"
“And besides I’m all in for an adventure, I mean guys we are already gunna get in trouble, so go big…and there is no really going home unless you want to try and be basically drowned again.”
Becky waved off her concern, "Then we'll fend for ourselves. We're a big enough group for that."
“I don’t know” Krishna shuddered from the memories of sleepless nights, listening to the strange noises from the mysterious field.
"We can start heading to town, I guess. I'm just saying though, don't you guys feel it? The stillness? The quietness? It just all feels wrong, somehow." Cally said, pushing a strand of her hair behind her ear.
"And that's exactly why we should explore! We'll find out nothing by staying by the lake!"
"And you aren't worried about the rules? I mean, this is hell. What if we're supposed to follow them?"
She scoffed, "You believe that? It's probably a prank, just like Krishna theorized."
(Becky is too stubborn for her own good)
Cally held up her arm with the tattoo. "Tattoos aren't pranks! And besides, haven't you guys ever heard the rustling in the cornfields? Weren't you at least a little worried?"
"Rustling?" Jay said confused.
“I have.” Krishna plopped back down on the sand knowing that this might take a while.
"If you're chicken, just say so, gosh."
"Yeah, you know, the rustling sound, like someone's going through the fields. You aren't supposed to touch the field, so no one does. That's why the rustling is so weird. What if there's actually something in the fields?" Cally explained.
