Either of those sounds good. Whatever you want.
OK.
Samaeal drove up to the café, his Nissan gliding into the closest space he could find.
"Jerry-Fletcher's." He read off the sign.
Ever since he'd moved to Beacon two weeks ago, he'd been recommended this place.
He scoffed as he saw his reflection in the side-mirror.
Monster. He thought, making his way to the café. He adjusted his beanie, which was hiding his horns. He tightened his tsil around his leg under his pants.
Humans don't like monsters such as yourself. He scorned.
A bell rang as he walked in. The place was almost empty despite all the recommendations he'd gotten.
"One cappuccino." He ordered. "A brownie too."
The cashier nodded, abd he took a seat, waiting.
Grayson watched the guy walk in and order, taking in the shape of his face and eyes, the way his mouth moved when he spoke. His finger traced carelessly over the table like he was drawing as he watched him.
Samaeal spotted a person staring at him. A short, thin guy, with thick black hair and grey eyes, rather small.
He winked one violet eye at him, cracking his cheeky, mischievous, devilish smile.
"Hello, how are you?" He asked, a light East London accent bouncing off his tongue.
Grayson immediately froze when the guy spoke, his hand falling still. “Uh-um..hi, hello. I’m g-good. How are you?” He stammered, his mind racing.
Samaeal chuckled almost inaudibly as his name was called. He got up, msking his way over to collect his coffee. He gave the brownie to the other boy, adjusting his beanie, smiling with his eyes.
"I'm… Well I do suppose I'm alright…" Samaeal said, looking at the boy. He was small, cute, awkward and simpatico. Like a little kitten.
"How long have you lived here?" He inquired.
Grayson shook his head slightly, sliding the brownie back to the other guy. He frowned a bit as the boys thought drifted through his head. I do not look like a kitten.. He thought, ruffling his hair a little. “Uh..bout three years..how bout you?”
Two weeks." Samaeal said. "Trust me… It's OK… Have it!" He insisted…
“No..I-I’m not hungry.” He said, a hint of a smile on his face.
"Very well then I'll make you a deal!" Samaeal said, cutting the brownie in half.
"Why are you so insistent on this?" Grayson asked, his thoughts slowing a little but still wary of this strange interaction.
"If you want the truth it doesn't matter." Samaeal said. His thoughts were fervent on that fact.
I can get the truth.. Grayson thought to himself. "Really, it's fine. I didn't come here for you to waste money on me."
"Fair point!" Samaeal said. "However I did come here to scope out the people in this town." Samaeal said.
"Then why are you with me?" Grayson asked, genuinely wondering.
"I'm asking myself the same question." Samaeal said. "Considering you aren't like the average person in this town, are you?" He said, without persecution, instead, with curiosity.
"N-no..not really I guess.."
Me either." The demon said honestly. "But I'm willing to bet you knew that." He added. He could smell the difference in this boi's brain.
Oh..oh no..time to go. Grayson thought, standing up quickly. "Uh, um..I should probably be going. Nice to meet you and everything."
"Very well!" Samaeal said, taking off his beanie to reveal his horns. The barista gasped. "But just know that nobody will fear you for being who you are!"
Grayson's mouth fell open as he stared up at Samaeal's horns. He quickly closed it and cleared his throat. "H-how..wh..uh..um…" He stammered out, his brain going crazy, intercepting the thoughts from all the other customers and employees in the shop.
"I'm…" Samaeal said, ashamed. "I'm a demon…"
"Y-yeah I got that." Grayson nodded flinching a bit. He looked around at all the people who were gaping. "If you guys could calm down a bit that would be great." He said loudly, their loud, very annoying thoughts giving him a headache.
Samaeal started to walk out of the store, as the people in the shop were upsetting the other guy's condition.
