@ScarletAndHerSides,
Here's an opening blip.
Another boring day at the Remi Tsutan Listening Outpost in deep space. Kordi twiddled her thumbs, bored out of her mind. There was nothing to do out here. "Why do I get stuck with the boring shifts?" She asked herself. "Answer: Because I'm on the bottom of the totem poll. That's why." She groaned for the umpteenth time before realizing the radio had crackled to life. Static mixed with a faint voice. "This is Rydlei."
Leaning forward, the young communications officer flipped a few switches on the panel, honing in on the transmission. After a burst of static, the female voice became clearer. "This is Rydlei… Obeithien… cargo… destroyed… hopefully…" Kordi tapped a command into the computer. The voice continued. "… are dead… with luck… network will find me…" The computer whirred as it strained to pinpoint the source of the transmission. "A month's time… hopefully…" Kordi's fingers flew over the keyboard, desperate to locate it before the transmission ended. "You soon… Lilly…" The computer chirped, indicating it had successfully tracked the transmission. "… signing off."
Kordi's eyes scanned the data the computer had collected. The message had been sent from the GSCS Obeithien. It was located in the Ticoro sector. Not too far from here… Kordi pondered whether this was worth waking up the rest of the staff. She frowned and checked the records for a ship named Obeithien. She sat back, reading what the computer had found.
GALACTIC SYSTEMS CARGO SPACESHIP OBEITHIEN-
ON COURSE TO CEERU 32 WHEN COMMUNICATION CEASED-
LAST REPORT STATED THE VESSEL WAS ON COURSE AND CROSSING THE STAGRON ASTROIDS-
MISSING SINCE 2198 A.D.-
FURTHER DATA IS CLASSIFIED-
Kordi tilted her head back to stare at the ceiling. 2198 A.D. "That's nearly…" She paused, doing the math, "Seventy five years ago!" She exclaimed, stunned. The station hummed as she pondered what to do. She stood up and walked to the intercoms. This wasn't worth waking the boss, but maybe her friends would be interested. She paused. "I should really report this to the boss." She murmured. "But he'd think I'm crazy." If she told the boss, he'd dismiss this as a fluke; But if she told her friends… there might actually be something to do on this boring outpost. Kordi paged for her friends.
"Hey guys, you won't believe what the radio just picked up…"
High five if you actually read through all that!
Alright, so. I'll be writing paragraphs here and there to keep the story going in the right direction.
Hears what's available for positions on the Outpost.
