“Aren’t we all?” Pollux huffed, distractedly pushing aside a piece of driftwood with his foot, “A miracle we’re all still kicking honestly.”
“Aren’t we all?” Pollux huffed, distractedly pushing aside a piece of driftwood with his foot, “A miracle we’re all still kicking honestly.”
(Oof, my bad. He’s on the beach then! Lol)
Pollux took the vial and carefully examined it, his nose wrinkling up just slightly at the sight of the bug.
“No, not exactly like this. What, did you find it on one of the bodies?”
Zara stares at Ewan with big eyes. "I am really nervous."
Ewan takes the vial back. “Yes, actually. The mark it left looks atrocious.” He sticks the vial back into his pocket and squeezes Zara’s hand, “no need to be nervous, dear. But if you see another one of those let me know.”
He points the body out to Pollux. “This man, actually. The skin around the bite looks almost identical to that of a recluse bite. It’s started to rot away.”
(Ewan uses endearments such as Love, Dear, Sweetie and the likes a lot by the way)(with everyone)(just warning)
"My question is, how come this didn't happen to us. I mean, I don't want it to happen to us…"
Pollux leaned down to examine the body. First, the bite, which was indeed like a recluse bite. He started to look for other markings or abnormalities.
“A little bit of luck, just the right amount of determination and know-how,” Pollux said, “With all due caution, we should be fine- at least for the time being.”
"AAA!" I scream, holding my leg. "S-Something bit me!"
Ewan nods. “Yes, but keep an eye out for these little guys. If they’re anything like a recluse, I doubt we’d be able to find something strong enough to retract the venom. That would take a bit more than luck.”
Zara screams and holds out her leg, claiming something bit her.
He runs a hand through his hair and bends beside her.
“Shhh, stay still.”
I start to whimper in pain. "It hurts…"
He takes the bug, squishing it between his fingers.
“It’s alright. It only just bit you. I’m sure it won’t be… that bad.” He rubs the remains of the bug on his pants.
I don’t want to freak her out.
“No, it’s okay. Really,” Pollux muttered, “If they are like a recluse, if the wound is cleaned out well right now, you shouldn’t be at much risk. Let me see?”
He moved his hands towards his backpack and sifted through for the med kit.
Gabe pressed his lips together as he looked over the bodies, not saying or doing anything. He'd been in places like this before, seen this much death before. It wasn't for him; he didn't like it much at all. He hated things like this, in fact. Even small things, like alcohol…whenever Abby would see abandoned alcohol in the street, she would drink it. He hated it…
Gabe shut his eyes for a second tightly, shaking his head a small bit before opening them again. He needed to stop thinking of Abby. That's what everybody always told him, anyway. But how on earth could he possibly get her outside of his head?(Sure thing)
Asa knows that face. It’s the ‘I can’t handle this’ face. He squints at Gabe and pats his shoulder as he walks by. “Hey, kid. Why don’t you come with me? Imma go check cars and whatnot for… uh, stuff.”
Gabe looked over to him, surprised, and then nodded. “Uh…yeah. Thanks.”
I wince and look away. "What kind of bug was it?"
While walking with Gabe, Asa puts the orange flannel he found earlier on Gabe’s shoulder. He ducks to avoid a tree branch and steps over a rabbit hole. “Sooo, never seen dead people out of a coffin before?”
Goodness, that should always be my conversation starter. Imma use that later.
I wince and look away. "What kind of bug was it?"
Ewan gently pats his pocket. “Like the one we found earlier. You should be fine though.” He looks to Pollux. “Have you got this? Asa has more med supplies in his bag if you need me to catch him.”
(What if Pollux is like, the groups nurse XD like it’s not a rule or anything but everyone knows to come to him.)
"Ewan, are you leaving?" I ask, my eyes widen

Gabe shook his head. “I’ve seen them. Don’t like it, though.”
(Yeah, it says in his bio he was about to go off to med school. His role is always along the lines of medic/healer)
“Yeah, it’s fine,” Pollux repeated certainly, unpacking the rubbing alcohol he had stored.
First, he tilted his water bottle towards the bite to rinse out the wound. He then applied some alcohol and stuck a bandage on it.
“There’s not much to it. You just need to make sure it’s cleaned out well. Of course, watch for any changes though. While I doubt anything bad will happen, just do that, okay?”
"I want Ewan!" I exclaim
Pollux crossed his arms.
“He’s not going anywhere right now. In fact, I don’t think we need to separate anymore for now. There’s some weird stuff happening in this area.”
"Okay…that gun that I found? Can I have it back?" I ask Pollux
Ewan takes her hand. “Zara, you’ll be fine. I’m not leaving.” He assures. He looks back to Pollux. “Yes. Asa and Gabriel went,” He points towards the forest, “through there and to the town. Once we regroup I won’t be having us split unless needed. Honestly, I didn’t even tell Ace to leave the group, he just did.” He sighs. “Sauka can study the insect once we return to camp. She should be able to tell us what it is.”
"So that's a yes with the gun?" I chuckle
Asa nods. “Ah, okay. I mean, I think only murders like it sooo, I guess I understand.” They leave the shelter of the trees and enter the broken, abandoned street. Asa happily jogs to a car, opening the door and peeking in.
“Oh shoot… Yeah. Thanks for letting me borrow it,” Pollux replied, taking off the holster with the gun in it and giving it to Zara.
"Thank you, Pollux. You are welcome to borrow it anytime."
Asa nods. “Ah, okay. I mean, I think only murders like it sooo, I guess I understand.” They leave the shelter of the trees and enter the broken, abandoned street. Asa happily jogs to a car, opening the door and peeking in.
Gabe followed him silently, looking inside. There were two dead bodies, a couple guns, and a road map.
