For that split second, he opened his eyes. His right hand cupping Roazin's cheek. God, there was nothing more that Adonis wanted to see than how the man in front of him was. The light in those green eyes took his breath away. His chest heaved while watching Roazin doing the same. What a sight to see. When they continued, he just kept on wanting more. More kisses, more breathing, more whispers of his name, more of Roazin's touch, his sound.
A pulse vibrated against his left wrist. Adonis kissed Roazin one more time before pulling away. "Ahh shit," He panted whole looking at the timer on his watch. After turning it off, he gazed back at the man against the wall. The way he was messy only made him want to keep on going. He wanted to get that shirt all wrinkled while Roazin kept whispering his name. It sounded better coming from anyone else.
But he wanted to not die from his mother's (or even his father's wrath) because he needed to do this with Roazin again. It wasn't even just the making out or anything. He just wanted to be with him and he wasn't going to wait for another charity ball to see him.
"This isn't over," He sighed. Reluctantly, he took a step away from Roazin. He began to straighten himself up. After buttoning his shirt, he held out his right hand, "Give me your phone so I can give you my number. Come on."
Roa was enjoying being pressed against the other man, and when the other pulls away, he’s disappointed. He looks down, swallowing and slumps back against the wall, trying to catch his breath. Heavy, fast and shallow, his breaths panted in and out as he stares at the floor. His fingers dig into the other’s flesh for a moment before slipping away and he drops his hands to his sides.
He was mildly upset with the fact that their time was up, and wanted to scream at the fact that it all had to stop. Why couldn’t he enjoy something for longer than ten minutes? Why did something always have to hold up a veto stamp and veto his fun? He just wanted to have something he could enjoy. something that was his and his alone and no one could take away.
He stares back at the other, chewing on his lower lip for a long moment. His gaze slides down the other and then back up, swallowing. The slightly ruffled hair, the shirt pushed back revealing the others stomach, the labored breathing trying to steady itself. Roa could get used to a sight like that, but he also wanted to get used to the man himself.
He lifts his gaze to meet Adonis’s and he realizes he knows nothing but what his father has told him about the guy. He wanted to know Adonis, it wasn’t fair to hate someone he didn’t even know. Someone who didn’t deserve his hate, or dislike. Someone who he’d just made out with seven solid minuets. Very unfair.
He blinks, his hand going to his pocket where his phone rested. “Um-“ The father that Adoins did ask more like order, registered in his head and he pulls the device from his pocket, handing it to the other.
“Here-“
The longer Adonis stared at Roazin, the more he wanted to say fuck it and keep on going. He wanted to push that man against the wall. He wanted to kiss every single inch of Roazin's skin. It was not the impatience driving him made, it was the fact that he missed hearing Roazin moan and whimper. He couldn't decide if he wanted to lock the door or run away with this guy.
But he couldn't do any of those things. He knew the horror that is his mother's concern would put everything down the drain. Most likely she would kill him if she knew then she would get Roazin's parents to kill their son.
He yanked the phone from the man's hand without saying a word. By creating a new contact, he just put his initials "AM" above where his number was. Then he handed the phone back.
"You better text me after this," He said while buttoning up Roazin's shirt. "I want you, I want to get to know you, so you better text me. Got it?"
Adonis didn't even wait for a response. Leaning in, he gave Roazin another kiss. His heart flipped. Before he could say or do anything else, he went to go splash some water on his face then left. Even was he walked back to event, his lips were still buzzing.
Roazin makes a small sound as his phone is yanked from his hand, not a squeaks, but a surprised sound nonetheless. He looks down at the screen, watching Adonis type his number in. He takes the device from the other and slides it into his pocket. Looking up at Adonis, Roa was quiet as the man buttoned up his shirt, enjoying the feeling of the others fingers when they brushed his skin slightly.
Roa nods, “That sounds more like an older than a request.” He murmurs, tipping his head to the side slightly and smiling. His green eyes were bright, happy for once instead of dull with boredom.
He smiles into the last kiss for a moment, kissing the other back and following him to the sink. Watches Adonis for a moment and then splashes water onto his own face. “I’ll text you later, you don’t need to worry.” He chuckles softly, taking a towel and gently wiping his face.
He turns, watching Adoins leave and starts counting in his head. Once he reaches five-hundred, he walks out of the bathroom, looking around. His gaze lands on his father, who was busy talking to someone else. He sighs softly, blending back into the crowd, though he can’t help but cast his gaze about for Adonis.
Luckily neither of his parents were greatly concerned about his whereabouts. Despite his cheeks still flared up, his mother smiled at him and patted him on the back. "Everything alright?" She asked. Adonis brushed his hands against the sides of his legs while nodding and smiling.
Even when he was standing next to his mom talking to some boring old man, his heart was racing. Frankly Adonis wouldn't be able to tell anyone what was being discussed. All he could think about was Roazin. Every single thought was tied to that man one way or another. Half of them were about making out with him and daydreaming making out or doing more than that.
He just was unable to stop thinking about Roazin. It came to the point where he'd look down at his smart watch and tap on the screen every couple seconds. When no one was looking, his mother lightly grabbed his wrist in order to get him to stop. Adonis sighed as he looked up. His eyes gazed around looking for him. Only when he found Roazin, he had to look away.
It was weird. At these events, Roazin was an afterthought. Adonis was conditioned to only hate the man anytime he ever thought about him. Even then, he was supposed to hate him. Now everything had changed. He wanted to take Roazin out on dates to nice restaurants or at home watching a movie. It didn't matter to him. All he wanted to do was to be with Roazin.
Roa’s gaze landed on the other man, and he watched as the other watched Mrs. Maeing, his mother, talk to an older man. His gaze flicks down for a moment, noticing the restless movement of Adonis’s wrist. The other kept checking his watch, so many times in fact that Adonis’s mother grabbed his wrist to prevent him from doing so again. Roa knew his father would have slapped the ever loving shit out of him for doing that. He barely got away with fidgeting with his fingers or cuff links. Ceaselessly checking his watch or phone was taboo to his father. It made him think that Roa didn’t care what was going on in his surroundings.
He kept staring at Adonis for a moment, and when his gaze caught with the other man, he tilted his head ever so slightly and then looked away, his feet moving of their own accord to bring him next to his father. His father’s hawk like gaze lands on him, narrowing slightly. The man grabs his shoulder, guiding him a few feet away from the crowd, “Where were you.”
Not a question, a statement. Expecting an answer, and an honest one. Roa swallows, pulling away from the other man’s touch, but not too much. Not enough to seem like he was fighting against his father, but enough to stay away from his contact. He looks at his father, “I was in the restroom.” He murmurs, keeping his voice low and quiet.
His father’s lips press into a disapproving line, “For ten minutes?” He murmurs, his voice harsh, but too quiet for anyone else to hear.
His face pales slightly and he tucks his hands behind his back, pulling at the cuff links. “There was someone else in there before me, Father. I had to wait.” He keeps his gaze focused on his father, unwavering. If he looked away, or anything else, he would be caught in his lie and then he would be screwed.
His father frowns and stares at Roa a moment longer and then turns away, “You’re lucky the Maeing boy didn’t make any bets while you were. . . indisposed.”
Roa nods, finally dropping his gaze to the floor. He was glad his father had not notice that Adonis was gone the dame amount of time as him, or gone at all. He moves away from his father, moving towards a smaller group of people. A few other young men his age whom he knew on the barest of levels but still ‘‘hung out’’ with to please his father.
One of the men looked up, “Roazin!” He was the son of the hosting family and his sister was not to far away, her gaze distant. Day dreaming, as she always did. Roa had to say the man, named Moore, was his only true friend. His sister was also pleasant company. Though he had seen her suck up to Adonis a few times.
He smiles, “Moore, wonderful event your parents are throwing. I’m going to guess it was your sister to pressed for the Maeing’s to be invited?”
Moore rolls his eyes, “No, actually, my mom thought to invite them herself.” Roa raises an eyebrow and then shakes his head, facing the main group, getting ready to kiss ass.
When the man had left, Adonis's mother turned to face him. There was a cool yet suspicious look in her eyes. She always did that everytime she donned on a thin smile. He knew that look for as long as he could remember. What made it more anxiety-inducing was that he could never tell what it was for. When he was five, it was because he didn't do as he was told. Then there was what happen with James a few years ago. Her expressions could mean anything.
Her cold hand touched the side of his face. "You were gone for a while," She whispered in Korean, "Are you alright?"
Adonis tried with every ounce of his being to not look at Roazin. Without saying a word, he nodded. If he spoke, he worried that he would give himself and Roazin away. Worst part is he didn't need to say anything in order to make that happen.
Hyejin bit the inside of her cheek while squinting at her son. In the corner of her eye, she looked over at the Demcrius family before smiling back at Adonis. She brushed through his hair a couple of times. "No you are not. Is it the anxiety? Is it warm in here?" The actress cupped his face before he shook his head.
She frowned, "Adonis Maeng, you were gone for almost ten minutes and look a little bit disheveled and tired. What is going on?"
Again, he shook his head. "Eomma, nothing's wrong. I just don't like these events…that's all." Gently, he removed his mother's hands from his face. In a split second, he saw Roazin talking to Moore. He sighed then returned to staring at his mom. "Everything's alright."
By the way she took a step back, he could tell that she wasn't fully convinced. Although he wanted to protect the secret that is him and the son of the Maeng family's number one rival family, he didn't care. Even she looked over herself before saying, "At least those Demcriuses didn't try to out bid us. Soon we'll win and then we can go home. Easy."
One of the other boys reaches out and pats Roa's shoulder, "Ah, you finally degin us with your presence! How gracious of you." The boy grinned at Roa and looked him over.
Before he could comment on anything, Roa flashes a smile, carefully removing the other's hand from his shoulder. He didn't really want to be touched by anyone other than Adonis at the moment. He could feel his skin was slightly warm, and he has to stiffen his back to not look over at Adonis.
Moore laughs and leans in, whispering into Roa's ear, "I know how much the Maeings bided on something. Come, write a check. It will infuriate them."
Ria looks over his shoulder at Adonis a challenging grin on his face. Like normal. He could pretend nothing happened. Like he and Adonis hadn't made out for seven minutes. He looks away, his gaze going to the project both families were after. Or more over, Roa's father wanted because the Maeings wanted it.
Ria reached into his suit jacket and pulled out his cheek book and pen, humming. There was something he liked about this auction. You didn't make any bet you couldn't pay. Instead of sitting in chair and holding up a sign with how much you'd pay, you would write a check and slip it into the box. You would add more checks as the event went on. You weren't really supposed to know how much other people were bidding, but the person with the most money on an object wins. And all the checks get cashed and the money goes to whatever charity they were raising money for.
Roa looks at Moore, "How much?" He murmurs.
Moore lusts off a number and Roa resists the urge to whistle. He shakes his head and starts writing on the paper. Tearing it off the stack, he walks over to the box. He looks up, waiting until he met Adonis gaze and holding it, that challenging grin still on his face as he slipped the paper into the box.
Just because he and Adonis now had. . . He didn't know what they had, to be honest, didn't mean Roa was going to don't try to out bid him. He enjoyed it but he had also seen the gleam in his father's eyes the last time they lost. The past event where his father didn't get what he wanted. He had seen the gleam again tonight in the car on the way here. He had known what would happen if they lost again.
He looks over to his father, who was watching him closely. The man's eyes flick to Adonis, the look on his face was the one he had when trying to solve a puzzle. While Roa knew he was good at pushing the right buttons when lying to his father, Roa didn't think Adonis knew them. Ria would have to tell him that. Somehow.
After a long moment of thinking, he pulls his phone out, looking at Moore and walking back to him. He wanted to tell his friend what had happened, but it wasn't just his secret to tell.
He clicks on Adonis's contact and hits message. He stands for a moment before sending what could be perceived as a random fact. The hawk loves to watch his prey. He never misses a sign in behavior, he will wait until he knows the patterns, and when they change, showing his prey's weakness, he will strike.
Very cryptic. But Roa knew his father was the hawk and the prey was currently him and Adonis. His father was smart, quick with his mind, and while he hadn't yet noticed anything off with Roa, he'd noticed Adonis. All it would take is one slip up.
His father knew about Roa's and Adonis's parlays. The taunting and glares across the room. The moments when they spoke being tense and full of. . .
And now that Roa thought about it, the both of them had always been attracted to each other. Like magnets. If Adonis didn't find Roa, Roa found him. But the only reason his father didn't figure it out was because they hadn't known. Hadn't known they had the hits for each other. He laughs, assumedly at something onenif the other boys said and makes a quick reply. Something about cake on a ceiling.
The hots for each other. Jesus, they were screwed. If they weren't very careful, this palace of cards would topple down so fast. And Roa would be left standing when th a million paper cuts.

Acting was something Adonis was good at. He could act like he was enjoying this social event. He could act like he was very much invested in the conversation his mom was having with other people. Yet he was unable to. His mind drifted back to Roazin no matter how many times he tried to pretend like everything was fine.
When his gaze met Roa's, the calm nonchalant facade dropped. That grin. That damned grin. His lips felt numb while he watched. Those lips would be better on his. That hand would be in a much better place on his chest or waist. All that rang in his ears were those little moans coming out of that pretty little mouth. At this point he could care less about the auction for he already won something far more precious to him.
By the time he snapped back into reality, his watch softly vibrated as a notification popped up on its little screen. Adonis knew that his mom was going to snatch his wrist for checking his smart watch. Although now, she seemed more preoccupied with this conversation she was having with someone whom he already forgotten the name of. Half of the people she introduced him to he didn't care for. She could introduce him to one of his favorite actors right now and he still would not care.
The small screen lit up, reveling the message from Roa. His lips mouthed word for word while his eyes squinted. What Roa said made no sense to him. He muttered the message a few times before looking up. By chance, his eyes caught Roa's dad. Sure his mind was slow to add things together, but he eventually was able to understand what was being said.
Sneaking around was something he was always good at. Even months after the whole scandal, he went back to sneaking around with some boy toy or anyone he was interested in. Honestly, it was very easy to hide things from his parents. Rarely were they ever home to begin with. Adonis hides a lot from them. Not just relationships, but everything. Even what him and Serafina were up to, he hid it all. They didn't really care. As long as neither of them was up to trouble or dead, the Maeng siblings could sneak away to Paris and their parents wouldn't know.
Then again, his parents rarely noticed anything. Roa's parents on the other hand were different. He only knew so much, particularly about Mr. Demcrius. The man is a hawk. Literally. Adonis wouldn't be surprised if the guy was watching everyone's single step. How tiring. How exhausting, but it doesn't have to always be this way.
Taking a step away from his mom and the little circle of people they were in, he decided to send a text to Roazin. Maybe it's time the prey sneak out and go somewhere where they can get away from the hawk. Just the two of them alone together. Before his mom could look over, he sent the text then rolled down his sleeve.
Roa turns back to Moore, checking back into the conversation the boys were all holding but not really into it. He sighs softly, chewing on his lower lip and tapping the back of his phone. His gaze lands on his father, who was still talking to an older man, though Roa had a feeling his father knew exactly what Roa was doing. He swallows and turns his back to the older man and looks at Moore, "Hey, I'm going to get some fresh air out front. See you later, yeah?"
Moore looked up in shock, blinking, "But you just got over here to us. Stay, gossip with us."
Roa shrugs smoothly, "You know me. I'll be right back, okay?" He smiles, lacing on the charm before turning and walking toward the garden doors, pushing through them and starting to walk around the large mansion towards the front. He looked up, stopping as he looked up for a moment. Moore;s sister, Adelle, was standing and he smiles slightly. He walks up to her side, "Addie. Wonderful evening and party. Getting some air and leaving that stuffy ballroom?"
Adelle turns, looking at him and smiling, "Roazin." She greets. She was pretty, Roa would admit, soft blond hair that cascaded down her back, a slim waist and nice curves. They often used each other as a cover when they needed escape, making sure they were seen together before both of them parted and slipped away. His phone buzzed yet again and he looks at the screen after kissing Adelle's cheek once and asking.
"How are you?" He blinks at Adonis's words and fights back a smile. That sounds perfect. Alibies are necessary to skew the sights away from the prey. He hums and sends the message before sliding his phone into his pocket. Most people thought him and Adelle were. . . not dating, but good friends. They used to actually sneak off together to get food at burger joints or go shopping together, they had always been close. Closer than Roa was to Moore.
"I'm good, I was actually waiting for you to eventually come out here because I knew you would. I need to go out away from here. I thought you might want the same?" She looks at him, her green eyes peering at him as he grinned.
"Ahh, me? Going somewhere? Pfft, I could never." He nods, "Yeah, going to meet up with a friend." He hugs her once, holding on for a long moment before taking her arm and walking towards the front, slow enough that if people looked outside the windows, they would see the two of them together. He pulls his phone out again and sends another text to Adonis, Hope you came in your own car, because I came with my father. Meet me in the fron under the old oak tree. It's dark and shaded there. He walks with Adelle to the front and smiles at her when she pulls away.
"See you later, maybe we can get lunch next weekend? Been a while since we actually hung out." He offers, lifting a shoulder in a half shrug.
She smiles and nods, "Yeah. If nothing comes up. I'll text you."
Roa nods and walks away, going to wait under the oak and leaning back against the far side of the trunk, out of sighs and hidden in the darkness.
With one glance at his smart watch, he grinned. A sigh left his lips. Easily tension rose from his shoulders. Finally, he can get out of this useless gathering. Not to mention, Roa's going to be outside waiting for him. What a win. Luckily he already had a plan.
One more time, he looked at the text messages. It was unbelievable how eager he is. He felt the energy surge through him as he swiftly texted back, See you soon, Roa.
Ryu Hyejin was off in her own little world. She was in another social circle, probably bragging about her career or how fair and sweet her children are. Part of Adonis wondered how sincere any of her words were, especially pertaining to him. And it's surprising she would have anything to say about Serfafina at all since he does most of the parenting.
After clearing his throat, he tapped her on the shoulder. "Hm?" She swiftly turned around to face him before asking in Korean, "Is something wrong, my son?"
Adonis pretended to hesitate. He lowered his chin while keeping eye contact with the floor. With his right hand, he rubbed his shoulder and in Korean responded, "Mom, my symptoms are acting up again…."
Her eyes widened. "But you took your medication, did you?" She watched as he slowly nodded then gave a shrug. His mother exhaled before rubbing the side of his arm, "You really should go home, but I don't want to drive…Do you want me to take you home? Or your father can get someone and we'll take your car home…"
He shook his head, "I will be fine. I just need to go home. Plus the babysitter had been looking after Sera for long enough." Adonis waited while the wheels in his mother's head turned. The back and forth was apparent in her eyes.
She rubbed his arm again, "Okay, be safe though. Take your time while driving. Your father and I are a call away."
A faint grin swept across his face as he gave a little nod. After telling her to enjoy the rest of the evening, he was out of the venue in less than five minutes. Adonis strolled over to the rendezvous point with his hands in his pockets. "I hope you hadn't waited too long for me," He said as he approached Roa, "But I can guarantee you that your wait will be worth while."
Roa was quiet, leaning against the tree and tipping his head back against it. He bites down on his lower lip, uncertainty finally starting to take root. What if his father found out that he wasn't with Adelle? He'd be screwed. And if–
His gaze snaps up when he hears footsteps and he turns, finding Adonis approaching the tree. He'd been standing here for maybe a minute or two, but it had felt like longer.
A faint grin graced Roa's lips as he looked up at Adonis, "Oh, you kept me waiting for a minute. You're just as bad as father says you are, keeping your company waiting for a single minute." He teased, amber eyes glittering with mirth.
He lingered to launch himself at Adonis, to kiss him, whisper his name, feel his skin again. But he would wait. He would follow Adonis's lead in this.
"Oh, you can? Are you sure?" Roa backed away a few steps, laughing softly. He felt heavy with glee and anticipation. He was getting away from the sharp gaze of his father, and the pressures to smile and be nice.
Roa could t tease people at these damn parties, he couldn't say the things he really wanted to. He had a feels Adonis had only heard Roa's real laugh once. But even then, the sound was like it was pulled from his chest.
"Where are we going? Lover's Peak? A diner? Real food sounds amazing."
Adonis chuckled while lowering his gaze to the ground. He rubbed the back of his neck before looking at Roa. God, he could not get enough of this guy. He could let Roazin tease him anytime. "I'm sorry, my love," He sighed, "I did a terrible thing. How can I ever make it up to you?" After loosening his tie, he took it off, folded it, then shoved it into his pocket. "I don't think Father knows how bad I can be.
As much as he loved being teased, he enjoyed playing around too. Oh was it one of his new favorite things. However, he was tempted to just make out with Roazin at this tree.
Once Roa began to step away, he pouted. Why was he stepping away from him? He wanted to be as close to Roa as possible. He needed to be. Adonis moved closer. "Of course," He nodded, "I am very sure of myself." With his right hand, he reached out to cup Roa's cheek. "And I am sure that I will. I did back in there," He motioned back to the venue.
Taking out his keys, he swirled them around while whistling. "I was thinking maybe we could go to a diner then head back to my place," He shrugged before glancing back at Roa, "My parents will be out all night, my sister's asleep, and it'll just be you and me. How does that sound?"
Roa snickers, watching Adonis. He lifts his hand, the knuckle of his index finger covering his own mouth. A glimmer of amusement lit up his amber eyes, "What kind of bad are we talking?"
Roa grinned, noting the look on Adonis's face. He blows out a soft breath, running his fingers through his hair. He swallows once, glancing back towards the building, sparkling with lights. Anyone could see them, anyone could start spreading rumors and gossip. Anxiety started up, a strange feeling in his stomach.
He peers at Adonis again, and laugh escapes his lips as he sees the other pout. "You look like a child like that-" He snickers, shoving his hands into his pockets. He was tempted to take another step away, tease Adonis more, but the other touched his face.
Roa blinked and his gaze slowly moves up Adonis's face before meeting the other's gaze. They shouldn't be this close right now. Not right in front of the home. But Roa didn't want to move away, instead, his face tilted slightly, leaning into the touch. "Of course you are. . ." He mumbles, staring at Adonis.
He blinks once, his face flushing deeply, "That-" He huffs, grumbling, "That. . . Is a good point."
Roa nods, "I'll need to go home first and change. Not going to wear this to a diner, the grease in a place like that would ruin it."
"The kind that drives our families insane," He laughed. "Could be the kind that will make come back for more. The kind that you'll never forget." Adonis wishes he could just let go of all of the concerns and anxieties floating around in his head. At this moment, all he wants to do is kiss every single inch of Roa's body, feeling his breath against his. If it weren't for the fact that they were out in public, he would be doing more than holding the other's cheek.
They are walking on a thin tight rope being out here like this. He is walking on a thin tight rope. This is not going to do neither of them any good. He can't tell if being out here is out of impulse or spite. Sure, he does love doing impulsive things. He loves the thrill of possible danger. And yet, it is the kind of love for danger that got him into trouble the last time. The kind that made him a mess. The one where he spent months locked in his room alone. The one that leaves him in a panic.
Is he still a mess now? Is being out here with Roazin worth anything? Both of them are risking so much just by standing outside together. Him with hand touching Roa's face. That sweet delicate face. Those tender rosie lips.
He scoffed, "Really? I think you can afford another suit. It's not like you'll be needing that one later anyways." Adonis swirled his keys around his finger again then began to walk off. "Come on, Roa. We really shouldn't be standing out here like this."
"Drive our families insane?" He snorts, covering his mouth with his whole hand this time. "I wouldn't want to get into trouble though, my father and insane would not make a good combination."
Roa would probably be grounded or something. Definitely locked in the house for a few weeks. While his father barely laid a hand on him, it happened. Most of the punishments were more passive aggressive. He wondered for a moment what would happen if he just ran away; ran and never looked back.
"I don't think you have to try much harder to get me coming back for more, Adonis. I'm already addicted." He rolls his eyes, his statement and exaggeration. He wasn't addicted, not yet, but he craved more of Adonis in a way that definitely should not be possible.
He follows after Adonis, his hands going back into his pockets. He watches the line of the other's body, the way the fabric cut neat lines that shift with each step. He blinks once and then looks away, feeling his face heat again.
"Well. . . No, actually. . . I can't. . ." He whispers. Roa had exactly four suits that fit him. He cycled through them for each even and party he went too and he had the same four for almost two years now. His father refused to get him more until they stopped fitting. "Besides, Father would notice if I got grease all over the suit anyways. Grease doesn't wash out very easily."
