"Hey, Dove." Oliver smiled tiredly, excited to see her again. He sat himself up, careful not to disturb any wires.
"Hey, Dove." Oliver smiled tiredly, excited to see her again. He sat himself up, careful not to disturb any wires.
Dove wanted to leap into his arms, but held herself back, telling herself not to hurt Oliver. "How are you doing, Oliver? I'm glad that you're okay." happy tears streamed down her face.
"Come here. I missed you." He held out his arm with fewer wires for a half hug. "I'm alright. All drugged up, you know? Can't feel a thing." He smirked and demonstrated by pinching himself as hard as he could. "You're here… maybe I'm dreaming?"
She took some steps closer and hugged him, smiling. She pressed down on the clicker, "I'm here. For real. Please don't pinch yourself."
Oliver automatically perked up at the noise, smiling as well. He buried his face in the crook of her neck.
Her fingers ran through his hair and she laughed, "It was only a few hours ago, when we were eating Mcdonald's and I asked you out on a date."
"You wanna date me?" Oliver's mouth dropped open in shock. "I thought you just wanted to hang out!" He immediately took advantage of the new situation and pressed a kiss to her cheek.
Dove blushed, "Um. I-I..um. Yeah. Both."
"You're really smart." Oliver ran his hands through his hair with a lovesick sigh. Maybe it was just the medication, but Oliver felt incredibly lucky he'd gotten Dove to like him.
"Thanks." Dove blushed a deeper red. "Y-you're really smart too." she rubbed the spot on her cheek where Oliver had kissed.
(I gtg. Goodnight @Nerd)
Oliver felt heat rise to his cheeks. "You could uhh… kiss me too, if you want to…" He trailed off, mustering the best puppy eyes he could manage.
Dove's mouth fell open, "Um. I-I.."
"N-No, no. I'm being stupid!" Oliver's face was profusely red, the heart monitor next to him started to beep as his pulse raced. He hid his face in embarrassment as a doctor rushed in.
"You're really not." Dove smiled awkwardly.
Oliver groaned in frustration as the doctor chuckled and walked back out, leaving him to wallow in self pity next to his crush. "I just… I…" He tried to find the words he wanted.
"Maybe some other day. When you're all healed." Dove patted his head.
He nodded his head in agreement. "So I'm all intact, right? Do you know if there's internal bleeding?" Oliver asked, shaking his head to get his hair out of his eyes. I really wish I had a hair tie…
Dove pushed his hair back, so she could see his face. "I don't know. I'm a physiologist, not a surgeon. Otherwise I would've been there, operating on you."
*psychologist
Oliver leaned back against a few pillows, relaxing a little. "Why'd you choose to go into psychology? If you don't mind me asking."
"I wanted to know how the brain works and why we act like we do." Dove pulled up a chair, "I knew I wanted to be a psychologist since age 10."
"Have any idea why I act like an idiot?" Oliver asked, joking a little. He had a tired smirk on his face.
"Maybe you're experiencing a crush. They tend to make people act foolish."
"I-uhh… I think I'd rather blame it on the morphine." Oliver glared at the heart monitor as it sped up with his heart rate. This was the worst possible time to be hooked up to a heart monitor. Like a giant lie detector beeping next to him.
She laughed, "You do that."
