Dove blushed and started talking in French, "Je t'aime vraiment et j'ai le béguin pour toi car tu es vraiment mignon et gentil et tu me rends heureux. Aussi, je prie pour que vous ne sachiez pas le français."

"Whoa, okay. Slow it down Ms. Bilingual. I can't understand a word you're saying. Am I going to have to learn how to speech French to keep up with you? I can't even speak English half the time and that's my only language." Oliver released Dove from his hug and started up the steps of the hospital.
Dove wrinkled her nose, "English was hard to learn."
(did you google translate it? (laughs) did you?)
"Not all of us can be as gifted as you, Dove." Oliver grinned from the top of the stairs. "Come on! I wanna see how Briar and the baby are doing!" He rocked back and forth on his heels.
(did you google translate it? (laughs) did you?)
(All I can say is Oliver's head would explode if he understood French.)
(What did dove say? I'm too lazy to translate it rn)

"I really love you and I have a crush on you because you are really cute and nice and you make me happy. Also, I pray that you do not know French."
Dove nodded, "Yeah, let's go."
(I just died laughing.)
Oliver went inside, keeping pace next to Dove. The building smelled sterile as always and everything seemed normal as he walked through the halls. That was until a little boy who couldn't have been older than five waved at him. Oliver's heart sank and his eyes watered, he focused all his attention on the floor, trying to stave off another panic attack. It could've been that one. You should've gotten there in time. You couldn't bring yourself to speak to his mom. You coward!
Dove held onto Oliver's hand. "Promise you won't break down?"
Natalie waited quietly for Bry to answer her.
Oliver took a few deep breaths and shut his eyes for a moment, trusting Dove to lead him forward. He squeezed her hand back and started rubbing small circles on her knuckles with his thumb. "Yeah." He replied shakily. "I'm okay."
Dove smiled and clicked her clicker, "I like it when you're okay."
Oliver perked up a bit at the noise, a weak smile coming to his face. "I like being okay too." He kept his grip on Dove's hand, reluctant to lose the warm butterflies that stirred in his stomach.
"We all like being okay." Dove was thankful that her brown skin hid signs of a blush. They came to Briar's room and Dove knocked.
Oliver squeezed Dove's hand a bit tighter for reassurance. Hopefully Briar was okay. Hopefully the baby was okay. He'd never forgive himself if something happened while he had gone to get lunch.
"Briar? Natalie? You in there?" Dove called out.
"Come in." Natalie answered.
Dove opened the door and went inside, quickly letting go of Oliver's hand.
Oliver felt his heart sink as Dove let go of his. Of course she let go. Who would want to be seen with a mess like you? A screw up who can't even do his job. A voice in the back of Oliver's head mocked. He ignored it and trailed after Dove into the room.
She turned to look at the floor, her brain telling her that she shouldn't have even held Oliver's hand in the first place. It was just setting herself up for disaster.
Oliver saw the dejected way Dove looked at the floor and quietly stood next to her, discreetly covering her hand with his for a moment and pressing the clicker one time before withdrawing quickly. He was terrified he'd just overstepped his boundaries. "How's the baby?" He asked no one in particular, trying to hide the blush on his tan cheeks.
Dove nearly jumped in surprise and then looked towards Oliver, a goofy smile all over her face. "Yeah, how's the baby?"
