Then Ill have to do a flipping speech about it.
Then Ill have to do a flipping speech about it.
So we're all obviously different from one another. We get sorted differently, we get called differently, and we argue differently. The truth is that we're all different. Just in the way people talk, the way people will stand for some things, it's easy to tell why the way they are is so prevalent. The first thing you did, @Brokenchipmunk, was come into the wrong common room. (It's just an example.) We all behave differently. Like the way my immediate reaction was to find this amusing. But now I have a better question.
Can people actually be sorted into houses? We talk a lot of game about how, and we talk a lot about why stereotypes of each aren't true. But take a step back. Aren't the houses themselves a definition of the human mind? Isn't definition what we struggle against? So why can we be sorted, when we can't be labeled?
Woah don't get defensive it was an example

Hi, Slytherpuff here. Cool common room.
I'm sorry for provoking you, I had no intention of offending you.
Actually, I think your point is very interesting. So maybe consider mine without taking it as aggression?
Because I'd never actually considered it before. You're right, the answer is: 'because it's a fandom'. I think of it on a more reality based level, where the houses represent labelling in society. You're arguing on a level within the fandom itself, about stereotyping between the houses. I never thought about it before, and I was curious. I'm sorry for asking questions and expecting polite responses.
blinks Wow this is rlly deep stuff guys…..
My questions were actually very polite. I can't find any basis for your argument right now, so I'm just going to take this as aggression. If you aren't going to actually have a founded and realistic argument, there's no reason for me to see your side. It's that simple. This isn't worth my time or energy anymore.
Ok I have to interfere. @ConstanceAtticus I kind of find that comment passive aggressive and I don't see any aggression with @Brokenchipmunk's comments. @Brokenchipmunk I might want to tone it down a bit though. Even though it might not seem aggressive to you, might seem aggressive to others.
Like I said, I apologize for proking you. I had no intention of offending anyone.
I didn't mean to seem aggressive, but I don't want to be a pushover either. I wanted to have a founded argument, that didn't lead to any aggression.
This whole thing started with my curiosity. I found your arguments against my points to be somewhat aggressive, so I retaliated. I feel like I have to explain myself right now. My comment about you not getting defensive was my way of trying to get you to calm down and see my previous question. I didn't mean for you to take it the wrong way, but you did. And that is both of our faults. How I reacted to that is mine, and how you reacted to my reaction is yours. I'm sorry, on my part.
How we react to things, no matter how bad the circumstance is, is our own choice. And I can't speak for you, but I do wish you no hard feelings.
Frankly, that can be your opinion on the matter and I can't change that. But I do see what you're doing as an act of superiority and I won't stand for it. You don't have the right to call somebody rude without considering their view, and I hope that someday you see that. And, by the way, the houses aren't real. But I am. And thank you for making me realize an important lesson.
Here's my real life lesson, from a real person.
Its called being a hypocrite. You tell somebody that what they are doing is wrong, and then they do it after telling you not to. Thank you for the excellent example. I believe "rude" is actually defined as "offensively impolite or ill-mannered." And I think calling someone rude, would imply that they did such a thing and that they should stop. Am I correct?
Now, is saying, in defense, that "It's not illegal to insult somebody." a direct contradiction to that? Are you not being rude by insulting me? So why is it that I am the asshole here? So why can't I say that "This is me being pissed off at someone, and voicing my opinion."?
The lesson 'Just don't be an asshole' is pretty much the stupidest thing I've ever heard in my entire life. If someone punches you in the face and then steals your mom, how would you react? Would you just stand there, because you didn't want to be an asshole? I implore you, the person I just finished arguing with; don't argue by twisting people's words around.
Ok 1 I think you are both being unnessicarily rude and 2 I think this is wayyy over dramatic. 3 I can actually agree with @BrokenChipmunk. The last user who did this deleted her account so beware. OK to be fair we started a riot against but thats not important.
