Anya's comment seemed to spark something behind Dowling's eyes. She felt Silva's hand slip into her free one, and she let go of Anya's arm. "I understand," Dowling murmured. "But all the same… Let her rest for now. Once you're asleep, the pain… fades."
" yes ma'am." anya said and sighed " may i take the day to train, i need to clear my mind." she said. anya's head was filled with guilt and regret. had she said something, did something , maybe even prevented the whole thing! something could have changed, eve wouldn't be in this situation, she wouldn't be hurt, they'd more then likely be snuggling right now.
Dowling straightened up. "Yes," she replied, turning to Silva and squeezing his hand before releasing it. "Would you walk with Anya down to the training grounds?" she asked in a tight voice.
He nodded curtly. "Come on," he encouraged gently, a tone very few people got to hear from him.
anya nodded and walked with him. she stared at the ground most of the way there her fists clenched as her mind kept relapsing over the moment eve was scratched. the scream, eve curled up, the burning heat surging through her body as she transferred the heat.
When Silva and Anya left, Dowling re-entered her office. Eve was still there, laying on the couch and fast asleep. Farah knelt beside her daughter and took her hand. Several veins in her arm were slowly beginning to saturate with Burned One toxins. Seeing her own child so hurt, so wounded, the headmistress did something she promised herself she would never do. She broke.

As they walked, Silva duly noted Anya's intense gaze at the ground and her fingers curled into fists. "You can't blame yourself," he finally said. "As hard as it may be, it's something you have to learn."
anyas eyes pricked with tears, " i should have said something. i could have stopped this" she choked out, " eve.. she wouldn't be hurt if it wasnt for me." she said and looked up to silva, tears staining her face " what good am i if i can't protect her.."
Silva's expression remained stoic, but his eyes softened. "I know how you feel. I've thought those exact same thoughts. But the truth is… the only one to blame in this situation is what hurt her."
" thats why i want to be on the extinction team. i wanna be the one to find it, and maybe give the final blow. but i need to have people i can trust. and theres only four people i really trust. two are adults, ones not even trained, and the other is hurt.."
"I can only imagine that you're referring to my daughter," Silva replied, looking straight ahead as he spoke. "And… wherever Farah and I stand with you, know that if you have our daughter's trust, you have ours as well." At this, he looked down to make eye contact with Anya to let her know he was being completely serious.
"thank you sir," anya said and nodded. once they got out to the field anya grabbed her sword and looked to silva "wanna turn?"
Amusement flashed through Silva’s eyes, but he raised his hand to decline and shook his head. “I’m alright for now,” he rejected her offer politely. “I wasn’t aware you were trained as a Specialist.”
" eh, i try," she chuckled and went through drills. at the end she seemed more relax. " thanks, for talking to me."
Silva cracked a smile and nodded. “Of course.”
Suddenly, Dowling, clad in a dark coat rushed past them. She was not quite running but not quite walking either. “We have to go,” she called to both of them. “Now.”
Silva didn’t hesitate. He motioned for Anya to come and followed Dowling right away.
anya grabbed her sword " comming." she said and raced after the headmistress. she looked back to silva " you good?" she asked
“Not sure as to who you are addressing, but no,” Dowling replied quickly. She didn’t look behind her, she only had eyes for the distance. Where the Barrier was. “Eve is getting worse. We need to kill the Burned One now. We can’t wait any more.”
" yes ma'am." she said, anyas arms clearly started heating.
“Where did it attack you?” Dowling asked calmly, not even slowing her pace for a second.
anya ran to the barrier " it got her right here. but we ran from there," she pointed
Dowling‘s eyes glowed for a moment, then she looked sharply in one direction and marched off into the woods. “I heard it,“ she declared. “It should be here.”
anya followed, her knuckles white around the hilt of her blade.
Dowling finally stopped as a snarl echoed through the forest. “Be ready,” she murmured, and Silva drew his blade as well.
anyas fire raced up her free arm as her eyes glowed the same burning red. anya hadn't been trying to but she was running on bad emotion.
Dowling seemed to sense it. “Keep your emotions in check. Clear, positive feelings. Don’t forget.”
The Burned One stalked through the trees and turned its mangled head toward them.
anya cleared her mind, thinking about the things in her live she loved. eve, the school, mom.., anya was ready for the thing. " lets go yah chard piece of shit "
