Elysia opened the carriage door to let the girl in. "It's okay Ailin. You've made it just on time." She leaned back as the carriage began move. She turned Willow and explained the villages they would see and where they would be stopping for the night before continuing on.
“As you wish, m’am,” she said. “Our first stop is soon - just a few minutes. It is wealthier - I expect you will want to speak to them, m’am?”
"I would prefer not too, but as my advisors pointed out, they are our main income. We must keep them happy if we want to keep the money flowing." She said.
“Of course, m’am.” S few minutes later, they stopped in the town square of the biggest town (minus the capital).
Ailin spoke up shyly. “Your Majesty, is the village of Birchwood on your list of visits?”
"Yes. If everything goes according to plan, we'll visit the village on day three." She said and looked out the window.
Felix got off his horse and opened the door, "Would her majesty like to tour the village on foot?"
Elysia smiled. "I would." With the help of the young guard, she managed to get herself and her dress out of the carriage.
Ailin smiled slightly and looked at her clasped hands in her lap, grateful to the Queen for including the stop on her list. (I’m thinking Ailin knows somebody there)
“Shall I Wait here, m’am?” Willow asked.
"If you would like too." She said as she took a glance around. She stepped away from the carriage.
Caelum stood next to Felix, looking around to make sure that no one would get near her. She glanced back and bowed her head at the Queen respectfully.
Felix smiled at Caelum, "Ready to keep the queen safe?"
"Yes," She nodded, smiling at Felix. Caelum had trained with Felix most of her childhood as they both became guards and knights. "As always."
"So honor-bound." Felix walked next to her, "Maybe, you can join me for lunch tomorrow?"
"Sure. Where exactly?" She asked. d
"Anywhere." Felix grinned, "This is the first time you've said yes!"
Elysia laughed at the two. She wondered off from the two to inspect the city and its people. It was obvious that they were well off here, none that were starving except a begger or two, whom she gave some coins to.
Felix noticed that the queen was gone and grabbed Caelum's arm, dragging her with him to find the queen. Whne they found her, Felix dropped to his knees and bowed to her majesty. "My queen, you mustn't run off like that."
"Oh do get up, you'll ruin your uniform." She grabbed his arms and pulled. She let go when when he was standing again and turned. "Have you seen anywhere else other than the palace and your home town?" She asked her gaurds.
"No." Felix said, making his face return to a mask of calm. "But sometimes I go on trips to protect the royal family."
