"A man of words and not of deeds; Is like a garden full of weeds; And when the weeds begin to grow; It's like a garden full of snow; And when the snow begins to fall; It's like a bird upon the wall; And when the bird away does fly; It's like an eagle in the sky;" she began to giggle dangerously in between verses. "And when the sky begins to roar; It's like a lion at the door; And when the door begins to crack; It's like a stick across your back; And when your back begins to smart; It's like a penknife in your heart; And when your heart begins to bleed; You're dead, and dead, and dead indeed. Dead, dead, dead, dead, isn't it funny?" she burst into hysterical laughter. "Run." and then there was the knife. She didn't look to be joking about anything, and seemed to be very much ready to murder something.
James spotted the knife. He heard the word run; therefore, he simply nodded, "Lovely, I'll be going now." James turned around and calmly walked away his hand resting on the hilt of his blade on his waist. He kept his guard up aware this good go south very quickly and if he started running it was a show of weakness. Even if Claire had told him to run.
She caught him at the throat, the blade cutting into skin slowly, as the first beads of crimson appeared. "Goodbye, Captain." she said, but then;
"Claire! Get off him!" Sala tackled her friend, and despite her small stature, managed to push her psychotic companion away. "What are you doing? He's our friend, remember? Why would you try and… and…" her lip wobbled, she looked like she was about to cry. And then she did. Claire stood there awkwardly, glaring at James and looking embarrass when she caught Sala's eye.
“Jesus, what’s going on here?” Kaida peered into the room, took a look at the situation, and then stepped in.
(Sorry this is short, and so late. I was at school)
James scowled as he reached up to wipe the blood from his neck with his sleeve. How could he have let his guard down enough for this to happen. He gave Claire a harsh glare back before turning to Sala with a slightly softer look in his eyes. He would have to deal with Claire later, probably just lock her in the brigs for a while. He said to Sala in a soothing tone seeing that his neck had stopped bleeding., "It's fine Sala. No major harm done."
"Cl-Claire tried to kill Captain! An-and she isn't even sorry!" Sala blubbered, pointing at her friend/enemy, but probably for only five minutes as she forgives easily.
Kaida patted her on the back. “Don’t worry, it’s okay. Everyone’s fine, except maybe Claire, but she’s never okay so..”
Dante didn't think his day could get any worse.
First, he had woken up at four in the morning and hadn't been able to fall back asleep. Too nauseous to eat any breakfast, he'd gone straight to the nearest thing he had to an office….. only to realize that he'd lost the key. After nearly an hour of hunting for it, he'd finally made it inside, spilled ink all over his newly painted star charts, had an unfortunate trip down memory lane, and received a comm from the hospital on Terra 14 telling him that his sister's time was running out. And, naturally, his nightmares had been hellish….. so hellish that he had emptied the contents of his stomach into a little silver bin by his bedside the moment he woke up.
Kaida patted her on the back. “Don’t worry, it’s okay. Everyone’s fine, except maybe Claire, but she’s never okay so..”
"Don't say that! She's just a little confused! Claire, he's the Captain, you aren't supposed to… supposed to…" she trailed off. "Sala-shine, I am sorry. I didn't… know." she ended awkwardly, moving to comfort her friend, but stepping back as Sala seemed to be terrified of her, and not ready to interact.
Kaida rubbed her hands together, trying to think of a graceful way to change the subject. "Uhhhhh, where's the ship heading again?" It was a feeble attempt, but an attempt nevertheless
James sighed and attempted to step back from the whole interaction, "We were supposed to be heading towards sector 15, but at the moment I don't know anything since Dante hasn't gotten back to me with a course chart. So for now we're just floating in space."
"Well that's just pleasant." Kaida said, frowning,
Then, she smiled."Wait, are any of the space suits in good condition? I mean, if we're just floating here why not go have some fun?"
( I am sorry, all my replies suck today.)
James looked Kaida dead in the eyes and said in the most commanding voice possible, "No. Do that and I'm leaving you here. In the middle of space.""
"Ughhhh, you're no fun." Kaida groaned. "Fine. is there anything you need done? If not, I might die of boredom."
"The latrines could always use cleaning," James said with a slight chuckle, "Or you could go and find Dante so we can figure out how we can stop floating in space for no reason."
"Okay, I'll go find Dante. The last time I cleaned the bathrooms, my hair stank like ammonia for weeks" She walked into the hallways, taking some detours before arriving at Dante's office. 'Hey, are you in there?" she called through the door.
"I'm going to get something to eat. Wanna come with me, Claire?" Sala asked, tugging at the elder's hand. "I can." she seemed glad that Sala was overlooking what had just happened. The kid had the attention span of a kitten. It wasn't that she got bored easily, she seemed to never get bored with anything. It was just her train of thought that moved around so quickly, bouncing off corners of her brain.
James shook his head with a little smile on his face. Soemtimes he wondered why he hadn't just left them to freeze in space, sometimes he wouldn't trade them. Right now it was a mixture of both, but he was ignoring that.
Aza flopped on her bed, waiting for someone to barge in and tell her to do something.
"Okay, I'll go find Dante. The last time I cleaned the bathrooms, my hair stank like ammonia for weeks" She walked into the hallways, taking some detours before arriving at Dante's office. 'Hey, are you in there?" she called through the door.
Dante raised his head at the sound of a familiar voice. Hurriedly snapping his notebook shut, he stood and opened the door. “Hello?”
"The captain sent me to find you" Kaida said, peering into the doorway. "He says we're…floating around in space or something?"
A frown tugged at Dante’s lips. “Oh. I’ll see to it, then. Where is he?”
Kaida shrugged. “I don’t know, last time I checked, he was going to go get something to eat. “
