So basically this is an idea I came up with on my own, in which supernatural creatures and humans live together in relative peace and harmony. Er, except for the gangs popping up everywhere.

I have a basic plot idea right now in which kids (also known as recruits) from each of the four dominant gangs are kidnapped by a chaotic antagonist who is trying to ignite a war between the humans and supernaturals.

The four gangs are:

-The Trojans (primarily shapeshifters)
-The Prophets (primarily oracles)
-The Nihilists (primarily humans)
-The Mavericks (primarily witches)

I say primarily because each gang is welcome to other races as long as they prove their loyalty.

More info about each race:

  • There are two types of shapeshifters—the ones who can turn into animals and the ones who can shift into other (real) people. Their power only works if they have previously touched the creature they are trying to turn into, and if they turn into another supernatural creature, they do not possess the power the original supernatural has. Young animal shapeshifters can rarely shift into more than one animal, and they often retain characteristics of that animal even after returning to human form.

  • Oracles have the power to see the (limited) future, aka glances of places or snippets of conversation. They cannot control this ability, however. In addition to this, they can sense and utilize psychic energy to defend themselves, although this often leaves them with migraines and even temporary paralysis, if they push themselves too hard. This power also requires sight, meaning if they can't see, they can't utilize that energy.

  • Humans, while lacking in the powers other supernaturals possess, are versatile and clever. They know the weakness of practically every other supernatural out there—especially those of the rival gangs. Silver neutralizes the power of a shapeshifter, oracles can be fended off with sheer numbers and/or lack of sight, and a witch's power can be neutralized by iron. Witches can also be burned by iron or killed with fire. The Nihilists are essentially the hunters of this rp.

  • Witches are probably the most dangerous in large numbers. Even alone, these guys are to be feared. They often have familiars, though not always. These loyal companions serve as a sixth sense for danger, and can be transformed into inanimate objects for transportation (since not all familiars are suited for public environments). Witches are capable of learning spells, although these often take heavy preparation and rely mostly on various types of herbs and other ingredients. Small verbal spells are not entirely uncommon either, however.

  • Werewolves, vampires, mutants, sirens, centaurs, harpies, ghouls, dragons, etc. also exist in this. Basically any supernatural you can think of, except modernized.

For the four kids/recruits (ages 13-19), someone will need to claim each one.

I've already claimed the witch recruit, from the Mavericks.

HOWEVER, you are welcome to create other side characters to further the plot. So if you claim the oracle child from the Prophets, you can still have another character from the Mavericks or the Nihilists.

I will roleplay the antagonist in order to steer the plot in the general direction I'd like, but other than that, as long as it's practical, go crazy!

Just a general character chart is necessary.

For the kidnapped children:

Name:
Age:
Gang (this will determined species, and remember the Maverick child is already claimed by me):
Appearance:
Background (minimum of five sentences):
Personality:
Other (optional):

Other characters:

Name:
Age:
Gang:
Species:
Appearance:
Background (optional):
Personality (optional):

If people are actually interested in this, then I'll post my character right after someone joins. Not to sound totally desperate, but I'd really, really love to RP this. Please… Just keep an open mind. That's all I'm asking.

Peace! ✌️

Hi! Can I be apart of this? (I would love to be the Prophet if that's ok-)

"Gang (this will determined species, and remember the Maverick child is already claimed by me):"

If you mean the child from the Mavericks, then sorry, but I've already claimed him. The only child character left is the one from the Trojans, which will be a shapeshifter. You're welcome to claim him! And if you still want a character in the Mavericks, that's fine, but they won't be a main character!

Oh, sorry I didn't see that! May I claim the Trojan then?

That's perfectly fine! And don't worry—it happens! :3

Alright, here are my two current characters. I won't be doing a chart of the antagonist. You can use mine for reference, or look them over if you're curious, but it's not required or anything.

One more thing I feel I should mention, is that familiars are sort of cousins to shapeshifters. They only have one animal form, and they cannot shift into other people. Shapeshifters cannot form a contract with witches, although it's encouraged between familiars and witches.

If you want to know anything else, just let me know! And you can add another side character at any point in time—don't worry about adding them all right away!

Name: Eugene "Genie" Corey
Age: Fourteen
Gang: The Mavericks
Appearance: Eugene has greyish-green eyes with small flecks of silver in them. He has incredibly messy, light brown hair that could probably be styled in a better way if he ever miraculously gained the patience to try. He has an abundance of freckles all over his otherwise fair skin, which he hates because it makes him seem more childish to the others in the Mavericks, on top of his height which is, to say the least, underwhelming at the moment. He barely reaches 5"4. His typical attire is a black undershirt and black jeans, with a grey dress shirt left unbuttoned and a darker grey jacket over that. The collar of his shirt is usually sticking out beneath the jacket at odd angles, but he rarely pauses long enough to fix it. His whole "look" is topped off with some dark grey converse to match his jacket. Occasionally the collar of his dress shirt can be seen to have a silver pin in it, the picture of a hawk with folded wings and an intimidating stare—for what's surely just a piece of metal. On the outside of his right hand, from his wrist to the tip of his middle finger, is a red tattoo of an arrow, followed by two, unconnected, intricate black lines that wrap around his forearm like bracelets. This is shared by his familiar as a sign of the contract between them.
Background (minimum of five sentences): He was born to an unprepared mother, the result of a careless relationship between two witches in their early twenties. While his mother tried to stick it out and care for Eugene properly, his father abandoned him right after he was born. He remained in the care of his mother for seven years, before putting him up for adoption. At the home, it wasn't long before a group of three men came wandering in, searching for any potential, valuable members for the Mavericks. Long story short, they chose Eugene, and he's been training as a recruit in the gang to this day. Shortly after joining the Mavericks, he was sent on a scouting mission with some older members, in which he miraculously stumbled upon his familiar. He was in the form of a white hawk when they ran into him, and one of the Mavericks attempted to shoot it before Eugene stopped him. Later that day he'd entered into a contract with the familiar, and they quickly became close friends. The familiar was quickly deemed "Swish" after the sound he made when diving in his hawk form.
Personality: He often feigns ignorance in any situation that would otherwise require seriousness or action, which leads to him getting looked down on or dismissed easily. If ever asked, he'd respond with "I don't know", when in reality, he's a lot more intuitive than he lets on. He simply has no other way of coping with having been adopted into a gang at such a young age. He's easily discouraged when things don't go his way, but tends to hide this around others who are also impacted as a result of being told "no complaining" practically his entire life. Around his familiar, he becomes an entirely different person—desperate to prove he's a worthy "master", even though Swish has constantly expressed his pride for him the way he is. Despite this, he's friendly around people he's not threatened by—almost too much so. He's surprisingly perceptive for someone his age, and desperate to learn as much as he can to protect his "family".
Other: He knows a few verbal spells, such as temporary night vision, speed, and the materialization of his familiar. Speed, however, can only be used for three seconds at the current time, and the first two spells leave him with a headache. With time to prepare and the correct ingredients, he can use hexes on people of his choice, although the ones he knows are relatively docile in witch terms.

Name: Swish
Age: ≈18
Gang: The Mavericks
Species: Familiar
Appearance: In human form, Swish has yellow eyes that vary in intensity based on his emotions, and a mop of black hair even messier than Eugene's—if that's possible. His skin is pale, almost unhealthy so, and he has only a few freckles around his nose. He has a thin scar above his left eyebrow, which is usually covered by his hair, and another that looks suspiciously like a scar from an arrow through his right shoulder. He rarely bothers with wearing a shirt unless for a formal occasion, as the fabric get in the way of his wings—retained from his animal form. On his right forearm he shares the same "tattoo" patterns as his master. He wears bleached blue jeans and black hightops ninety percent of the time, the other ten being baggy shorts that come down to his knees and some "dad" flip flops. His wings are mostly white, with a few grey and black splotches scattered throughout his feathers. In animal form, the rest of his body follows the pattern on his wings, although his face remains a pure white. When in material form, he resembles a silver pin, although the exact design varies depending on what position he was in when he was transformed.
Background (optional): He refuses to talk about it, and Eugene never pushed him to spill. He was named by Eugene, however.
Personality (optional): He's typically reserved and quiet, though he doesn't shy away from social interaction in the slightest. He's usually the one who has to re-explain meetings to his master, who doesn't always pay attention. He fills the role of Eugene's caretaker and best friend, and is, consequently, fiercely protective over him down to what he eats for breakfast.

@croccin-champagne

Name: Daniella Novus
Age: 16
Gang: Nihilists
Appearance:
OG: With her mother’s deeply tanned skin and almond eyes, she’s been called ‘exotic looking’ on multiple occasions. That is, unfortunately for her, where the similarities to her mother end, minus her height, at 5’4. Short runs on that side of the family.(Only physically. She does have a few other things in common, but they’re more personality or habit-oriented.)
And where those similarities end, new ones begin. Dark red hair, that often reminds one of blood when caught in the right light, is a trait inherited from her father. Her eyes are, too, a cold steel grey and icy blue mixed together, eyes exactly like his. There are smaller signs of him she carries, too, like her slender fingers, likened to those of a pianist, or the shape of her nose(despite it having been broken so many times it’s crooked).
This is where her appearance begins to deviate from her parents’. All the scars littering her body are her own. From the lines on her neck from knives, to the cigarette burns along her arms and legs and shoulders, to the brand on her right shoulder blade, and everything in between. Natural curves had started to show, but her lack of food withered them away.

Usually, she dyes her hair, and wears the occasional colored contacts.
Background: Born Allisandra Voxx, she's the daughter of a powerful criminal with hands in every pot. She grew up in a household of terror and violence, protecting her twin brother best she could. When she was thirteen, her mother sacrificed her own life to get Allisandra and her brother out. They took to running, and always had each others backs, until they were caught. Her brother sacrificed his life to give her a chance to escape, bringing the number of sacrifices that weigh on her shoulders up to three(there's another one.) Her skills at staying unnoticed and blending in to any situation were noticed, ironically, by the Nihilists, who sent a small group to corner her in a roadside gas station. Without any sort of plan for herself besides running and never stopping, she joined them. They haven't quite gotten her to open up at all, but she's more comfortable with most members of the gang than she lets on.
Personality: A natural instigator at heart, she’s great at picking fights While she can win them, she prefers running from them. “Daniella” is a bit quieter than Allisandra is naturally, though her instigator’s tendencies show themselves more than they should. Jaded and mysterious, and doesn’t trust easy or at all. Avoids skin-to-skin contact best she can, and any other kind of contact, though on a lesser scale. Pop culture? Never heard of her. This poor kid never gets any damn sleep, a combination of nightmares and self-imposed insomnia. Has a violent streak that she tries so hard to keep under-wraps, inherited from her father. It shows most when the people she cares about are threatened. Wicked smart, though she prefers coasting by unnoticed, obviously.
Other: Has a photographic/eidetic memory, which is usually more curse than gift.

She looks great! I like the whole "Pop culture? Never heard of her." Also, love that she's an instigator! You did a really good job with her personality!

Name: Lilith Vlahos
Age: 17
Gang: Prophets
Appearance: Lilith has a common skin disease called vitiligo. Although, she promised herself to never let anyone see it (it's doesn't affect her face, so that helps her). She has dark brown, curly hair that stops at her mid-back, and brown eyes that almost seem red. She has two dimples, and she's named them both. Being an underweight 5'3 girl, her body seems very fragile. She has small hands, which makes it hard to grab onto things. She also has two deep scars that make an 'X' on her back.
Background (minimum of five sentences): Growing up, she was isolated from everyone, and her only friend was her imagination. Her parents were verbally abusive to her as well. Fortunately, her older brother always tried to make her feel better, so her childhood wasn't all depths in despair. When she was 13, she watched her entire family get murdered in front of her by a group of thugs. She tried chasing after them to get revenge, but that didn't turn out well (this is how she got the deep scars on her back) when she figured out she could see glimpses into the future, she was picked up by the other prophets
Personality: Lilith is very empathetic to people, even strangers. She tries her best to make everyone she knows happy, and won't stop until they are. She doesn't talk about herself a whole lot, in fact, she enjoys listening to others. But that doesn't mean she won't talk about herself at all. She just leaves out sensitive topics. But she's not all sunshine and rainbows. She has BPD (borderline personality disorder), which means she has a tough time with keeping her emotions at a 'normal' level (emotional instability). BPD also comes with feelings of worthlessness, insecurity, and impulsivity. Ain't it wonderful? But she tries her hardest to ignore/ mask it and focus on others.

(let me know if I need to add anything else-)

Lilith is awesome! I actually relate a lot to her personality—the codependency and lack of self-confidence in specific. I can't wait to see how she and Daniella are written!

Anon

We'll wait a little longer for @Qxeensryche-is-bored-again, and if they haven't responded by, say, 7pm (ish) EST, then I'll go ahead and post the start. They can still join after they add their character, just to clarify!

(No one panic—I just got impatient and wrote this, and then posted it. You can reply at your own pace!)

The light from a beaten-up television flickered as the channel changed, rousing Eugene from his troubled sleep. As he regained full awareness, he realized with a sinking feeling that his arms were cuffed somewhere behind him. Instinctively he pulled at the shackles, a noise of distress passing his lips as they refused to budge. When the noise failed to reach his ears, he let out a groan of frustration and leaned against the support beam he was tied to. Gagged and bound, like a pig up for slaughter. Leave it to him to be the only Maverick capable of getting himself kidnapped on a trip to the grocery store. And on top of that, he couldn't call for Swish without his voice. Fighting his rising panic, he took a deep breath and looked around the room. To the left of the TV was a recliner with a hand hanging off the armrest, a remote clutched loosely in its grasp. Eugene couldn't make out the rest of the person thanks to both the back of the chair and another conveniently placed support beam. His gaze trailed down to the bottom of the beam, locking onto the figure there. Another kid his age was still passed out there, head lolling somewhat to the side and a blindfold fastened around their head. What..? Idly he wondered why they had a blindfold when he didn't, but his attention was quickly brought to the matter of hand, which just so happened to be the other two kids to his right. A serial kidnapper, then? he wondered to himself, keeping his fear at bay by learning as much as he could about the situation. What the crap? Why am I the only one gagged? he thought suddenly, annoyance flaring until he realized the kid across from him was the only one blindfolded. I guess it makes sense if the guy doesn't want me casting spells, but why…? He huffed lightly and sat back again, craning his head back to getter a better idea of where they were. Above him were two skylights, or what he assumed were skylights, since they were both covered in black tarps that sloped towards the center of the room. Which just so happened to be above him and the other kids. Are we in a warehouse? He didn't have time to contemplate it further as he heard a groan and turned to watch the source.

(Lilith is the one blindfolded so that she can't just bust out with her psychic energy manipulation, just an FYI. It won't stay that way, though, don't worry!)

@croccin-champagne

A groan slipped from Daniella's lips as she was pulled suddenly out of her sleep by a throbbing in her temple. Throbbing? Why did her head hurt so-right. She didn't thrash or struggle, knowing full well that would only make anything worse. That was the only clear thought in her head, as the rest of her was frozen with an icy panic that locked her limbs in place.

I shouldn't have been caught. It makes no sense. There was no buzz before about finding me. She had been careful. So careful to cover her tracks and keep moving to avoid getting caught. So how the fuck had they caught her.

It took a few moments for her head to clear a bit, at which point, Daniella started to realize that it wasn't her father who had caught her. Nothing about the M.O of her being grabbed matched up, and neither did the room she was in. Or the three other people in the room. The 'sixth sense' she'd developed, a small tingle on the back of her neck, clued her in to the fact that these weren't humans. That, and the odd way each of them seemed to have a different sort of binding and extra measure from the others. Think think think. You're shackled. You can't get out of shackles using the techniques for rope or duct tape. Is there anything on you you can reach to pick at the hinges…

Deleted user

Lilith's eyes shot open, and she saw one thing: darkness. Damn. They must know about me if they put a blindfold over my eyes. She had been walking home when she was kidnapped. She felt her arms behind her, in cold shackles. Oh great, I can't move. She sighed loudly, against her judgment.

Anon

Eugene froze at the sound of a heavy sigh, mentally cursing the girl who'd made the noise. If he were in his right mind or literally any other situation he would be more forgiving, seeing as she had no way of knowing the kidnapper was behind her watching television, but as it was, he was terrified. He leaned his head back, eyes shutting tightly as if it could make him disappear. It was awful—knowing he couldn't properly communicate whatever the hell was going on with the stupid gag. Thank their lucky stars, however, because if the kidnapper heard anything, he didn't react. After a few more seconds, Eugene opened his eyes again and tried to catch the attention of the girl who didn't have a blindfold on, gesturing with a tilt of his head to the position of the kidnapper since his vantage point was better.

@croccin-champagne

Movement from the boy with the gag caught Daniella's eyes, drawing her out of her scattered attempt at compartmentalizing. He was tilting his head. She followed the direction of the movement, guessing that he was trying to show her something. Her eyes widened just slightly as she caught sight of the T.V that was on. And where there was a powered up T.V…Fuck fuck fuck. She could only assume that was the man-person? who'd grabbed her and her fellow captives and brought them here.

Anon

Eugene's gaze stayed on the girl until she looked back at him, noting the look of panic in her now-widened eyes. Now how to communicate to the other girl? he mused, trying to retain his fellow victim's attention. If the blindfolded girl unknowingly made more noise, they could all be in trouble. Maybe they won't notice if she whispers? he hoped, trying to signal again with his head at the blindfolded girl. He blinked, realizing it would be near impossible to understand what he was trying to say with a couple head tilts. Eugene yanked at his chains in a futile attempt to relieve some of his pent up fear and frustration, keeping his fingers clasped around the metal links so they wouldn't be too loud. Again, he tried gesturing towards the blindfolded girl, then the kidnapper, hoping he'd be understood.

@croccin-champagne

Daniella shook her head, not quite getting what he was trying to say. She did have a back up though, though it was unlikely he would be able to understand her. Taking care not to make noise with the chains, she waggled her fingers to get his attention, before twisting them oddly. Sign language. "Is there any chance you know sign?" She signed, raising an eyebrow slightly at the boy. "I don't know what you're saying."

Anon

Eugene narrowed his eyes in concentration, shaking his head slightly. He had no clue what she was saying, but he recognized the positioning of her hands as sign language. He'd started an online ASL course about a year ago, but quickly lost interest when he didn't learn it all within a few days. Now he was regretting it… Damn, I wish Swish was here, he groaned internally, shifting as quietly as he could so that she could have a better view of his hands. Uhh, if I remember correctly, it was something like this… He moved his fingers until they formed the letter "A". As quickly as he could, but waiting in between long enough to be sure she could see, he spelled out "A-L-Q-H-A-B-E-T". He paused to see if she understood, knowing he'd probably screwed up at least one of the letters. He winced slightly as the metal chaffed his skin, but ignored it as he began to spell again. "P-U-I-E-T". He gestured again at the blindfolded girl, then the kidnapper. By now he was wondering if this was even necessary, as he hadn't picked up on anymore noises that could endanger them.

(p and q are similar in the alphabet, which is why he mixes them up, just an FYI)
