(Sounds good! Lol yeah work is a bit of a trial but at least I get to take care of some cute puppies and kitties xD)
All right……yeah, keep in touch. If anything happens on my end, I'll do my best to contact you.
Bernon had been watching Tanrial's expression closely and raised an eyebrow when he thought she was done. "What's the news? Is he okay with us staying out here a while longer?"
(Awww 🥺)
Tanrial cut off the line with Mike. She turned to Bernon and nodded, "Yeah, he's cool with us going. But he wants us to be back within the hour as he wants to start moving off soon. He said Ven's okay, too, which is a good thing I suppose."
Bernon grinned. "'Course it's a good thing. Let's go then, we don't have a moment to lose." Turning back to Drayce and Aston, he gave them a nod. "Okay. If you two are still willing to take us back to your camp, we'd be happy to see it."
Drayce nodded, giving the two a small smile before passing Bernon and heading down the trail the magic users had been following. Aston fell into step between Tanrial and Bernon, slipping his hands casually into his pockets compared to his stoic companion charging ahead, "So, did your friend of yours say if that Ven guy would be moving away anytime soon?" He asked.
Bernon walked alongside him, admiring the scenery on either side. "Well, he seemed pretty weak when Tanrial and I left this morning. That's actually why we're still in this area—I felt bad about leaving him alone in the cabin with no food or friends to take care of him. He's clearly been through a lot, so I hope he'll give himself time to get back to full health before he does any major traveling." He shrugged ruefully. "We'll see. Maybe I'm misjudging him. He could be ready to pack up by tonight, who knows. So far he hasn't been very talkative about himself."
(I'm off to work, seeya! ^^)
(Hey so, i just got some really bad news, and i think im gonna have to take a break from things for a while. Sorry about this, hopefully i'll be back before long hugs )
(Aw no im so sorry :( hugs back take all the time you need I completely understand. Don't apologise at all, stay safe man)
"Ah, a quiet one I see." He mused, "You need to be careful with those types of people in times like these. You can never really trust anyone, even your best friends. And those you don't open up about themselves after a while are the ones you should trust least. But, if you're leaving soon then he's not a threat."
(Thanks so much, I really appreciate it)
(Heya, just letting you know I'm still alive. I'm not quite ready yet to start this up again, but I'm getting there and I hope you're doing well <3 )
(it’s okay, take all the time you need away and come back when you’re ready, i’ll be here when you are. all the best <3)
(Thanks for understanding :) )
(Ok. I'm back, and I think I'm ready to start this up again. Thanks for your patience, I hope you're doing well :) )
"Ah, a quiet one I see." He mused, "You need to be careful with those types of people in times like these. You can never really trust anyone, even your best friends. And those you don't open up about themselves after a while are the ones you should trust least. But, if you're leaving soon then he's not a threat."
Bernon couldn't help thinking, wryly, that if they shouldn't trust quiet people, then they shouldn't be trusting Mike to so much as address an envelope without supervision. But he didn't say so, instead nodding to acknowledge Aston's advice. "I suppose you're right. Yeah, all four of us will be out of your hair soon, don't worry." He eyed the man for a minute curiously. "You know…..I can't help wondering about those weapons you almost shot us with when we first met. Those aren't ordinary guns, are they? It looked like they shot some kind of energy or magic or something. What's that about?"
(Hey welcome back! If you need any extra time then feel free to take it :) I hope you're doing okay now)
Aston broke out into a grin, pulling the gun from its place at his side. It was of good size, looked to be made of something steel. The end was fashioned much like an old school hair dryer with a wide end and a grate like piece at the end. Inside, a soft blue light pulsed away gently, "Well spotted. We don't actually have a name for these yet, but, they're basically a gun, only they shoot this modified ball of light. Kind of like fire? But also sunlight at the same time."
(Thanks :) I'm doing basically ok now)
"Wow." Bernon had never seen something so high-tech before—not counting the wonders of Ryker's underground bunker, of course. Ryker's tech had all been well-preserved pre-war machinery, but Aston's weapon looked like something totally new. "So….is it magic, then? Or no? I honestly can't tell."
(That's good to hear :))
He sighed a little, twisting the gun in his hands, "If I'm being completely honest with you I'm not too sure. The energy it uses, it comes from this plant we found in this area. Definitely had some weird shit happen to it and I'm not quite sure if it was magic or not." Aston shrugged, "Science and magic combined perhaps."
Bernon's eyes widened in amazement. "That's….that's crazy. I mean, I guess it makes sense that plants and animals might be infected with magic after all these years, just like the humans were. Still….I never would've imagined something like this." He smiled brightly. "That was really clever of you guys to make a tool out of it! Do you know if this energy has other uses besides combat?"
"We're in the process of testing it for other properties, mainly medicine purposes. If you'd like I can show you when we get back to the camp if you have time?" He raised a brow, "I can make it quick, too, if your other friend needs you to get back soon."
Bernon glanced at Tanrial, clearly tempted. "It…..would have to be quick, yeah, but I'd love to see what you guys are working on if you're willing to show us. It sounds fascinating."
Ashton beamed, clearly excited to show someone from the outside what they had been working on, "Of course! Quick as thieves. We'll be in and out before you know it. If only you could stay longer, there's loads of things we wanna test and build, you'll have to come back sometime."
(Eyyy good to see you fam! How ya doing?)
"I'm a Wanderer with no plans to settle down, so I promise we'll see each other again," Bernon promised. "Honestly, I live for this kind of thing. If my friends and I weren't running some kind of urgent mail out west, I'd definitely stick around for a day or two. It's not often I get the chance to meet magical inventors."
(Hey man! sorry it's been a hot sec again, life be like that. I'm doing aight :) how have you been?)
Ashton raised a brow slightly, "It's a long way west for urgent mail," he said, "You're both magic, right? Surely there's a way for you to get the mail from here to there safely." The sight of the camp was coming into view now. Light from crackling blue fires and the sound of tinkering was clear, "Hell of a way, must be very important what you're doing then."
(Aaand I disappear for a week, sorry about that ahaha TvT I'm doing good! My sleep schedule's absolutely shot due to staying up late for no good reason, but other than that things are going smoothly xD)
"I mean…..it's important to us," Bernon replied vaguely, not sure how much he should say considering the last person who'd known about the data drive had tried to kill them all. "Yeah we're magic, but our buddy Mike isn't so I think most of the trip will be the slow way. I just hope somebody pays us good for this when we get there." Then he spotted the bright blue fires and got totally distracted. "Woah, what are those? That looks so cool!"
