"Oh don't apologise," She said, "We've met far worse people out here with no manners what so ever, a little bit of impoliteness for the sake of curiosity isn't worth apologising for."

(tmw you finally get to see how many people are following the rp O.o)
"These are wise words you speak, my lady," Corin said serenely, leading them down the dock to the main building. "It reminds me of something my dearly departed wife might have said, were she still alive today. I don't think I've mentioned Elmira to you yet, have I?"
(I gotta go to bed but have this before I do, sorry it's a little short ^^; )
(Sixty fourrrrr. geez I didn't think it was that many)
Tanrial shook her head, offering Corin a sympathetic smile, "No, you haven't. And I'm sorry for your loss. Losing someone close to you is never easy, I'm sure she's in a better place now and smiling down on you. How long were the two of you together?"
(I hope they enjoy our shenanigans somewhat XD)
Corin reached the front door and held open the curtain of mosquito netting for them. "We were married for almost fifteen years before the plane crash over the very lake we sit next to. That was perhaps a decade ago now. I am sure you're right that she is watching us even now, and she is such a wonderful woman that the mere thought of her eyes on me give me the strength to carry on. Ooh, let me show you the mural!" He led them all through the dimly-lit main room—which was filled with makeshift huts similar to the ones back in Boar-back's camp—and over to the far wall. There was a swivel chair sitting here on a raised platform, draped with colorful beach towels, and Corin collapsed elegantly into it, turning around to face the wall itself. "Here she is. I commissioned a wandering painter for this task specifically."
The mural was large and beautiful, if a bit marred by water stains near the floor. It depicted a tall woman in a flowing blue dress with long blonde hair and a benevolent smile. She was surrounded by stylized fish and flowing waves of water, and a burning airplane fell through the sky above her. Below the mural was a rickety altar of sorts, decorated with small notes, bedraggled flowers, and assorted trinkets.
"Isn't she perfect?" Corin sighed.
Tanrial nodded, walking up to the mural, "She looks beautiful," She replied, looking over her shoulder at Corin, "You two looked like you'd make a great couple. Did you ever have any kids? Sorry if that's an inappropriate question to ask."
"Not at all! My bandits will tell you, I'm sure—I love bombarding them with stories of my wife. We never had children, no. We had agreed that perhaps we were too busy with our passions in life to properly care for a family. But it didn't matter, we were always happy with each other. And we had some beautiful nieces and nephews to spoil whenever they visited. Of course, those days are long-gone, so I can only look back on them with fondness now."
He was interrupted when a door nearby labeled "medical bay" suddenly flew open and a pack of screeching small children ran out, chased by a woman in battered scrubs. The kids ran to hide behind Corin's chair, while he watched in mild bemusement.
The woman put her hands on her hips and gave Corin an I'm about to lose my temper look. "Hello, chief. Would you tell the kids that it's time for their baths, please?"
Corin turned around to consider the motley group behind him, then glanced back at Tanrial and the others. "I'm terribly sorry, would you mind waiting here a moment? It seems I have to straighten out the troops a little bit."
"No of course not," Tanrial chuckled, "Hey if you need an extra pair of hands I'm happy to help. Kids are a handful. I'm sure the boys wouldn't mind waiting if you did need any extra help. Right guys?" She turned to look at Bernon and Mike over her shoulder, raising a brow.
(oh btw, I probably won't be active at all this weekend as I'm going away and won't have internet. I'll pop in if I can)
(Okay, thanks for the heads-up! ^^)
"Hey, we could help too," Bernon offered. Mike started to shake his head, then seemed to decide he didn't want to let his friends wander off with a group of bandits and grudgingly agreed with Bernon.
"That's very nice of you!" Corin rose to his feet. "Thank-you kindly. Now children, these are our new guests. Be polite to them and don't try to steal their belongings, understood?"
The oldest girl, who was maybe ten or eleven, wrinkled her nose. "Guests? What are those? I thought there was only new members or prisoners."
"No no, a guest is someone who's coming over to visit, someone we hope to be friends with. Like….our business partner Loki, for example."
The kids all yelped and scurried away to hide behind him once again. "They're like Loki? He's scary!"
Corin sighed. "Children, these guests are different. Now line up where they can see you and say hello, as I've taught you."
Reluctantly, the small group did as they were told, still eyeing Tanrial and the others suspiciously. "Hello," they chorused.
Tanrial smiled sweetly, getting down onto her knees so she was around the same height as some of the small children in an attempt to be less frightening, "Hello. We promise we aren't like Loki, we just want to be friends with you all. I'm Tanrial and this is Mike and Bernon," She pointed to them both as she spoke, "What are you names?"
After a moment, the oldest girl spoke again. "I'm June Bug, and this is my twin brother Skipper." she gestured at the boy next to her. "Then there's Patch, 'n Springs, 'n Minnow…." three kids aged roughly six-to-eight stepped forward. "….then there's Eletelephee, she's new….." a five-year-old girl peeked shyly out from behind the group. "….and then there's the babies, Screamer and Pup." Screamer was maybe three or four, and Pup was about two. All of the kids looked scrawny, sharp-eyed, and badly in need of a bath. The woman who'd followed them out of the medical bay gave Tanrial a wry smile.
"Nice to meet you three," she said. "I'm Willow, the tribe doctor….and babysitter, apparently."
Tanrial chuckled, looking over her shoulder at Willow, "Nice to meet you. Babysitting isn't all bad, usually once they fall asleep is when it's the best part. What do you need us to do? Besides help them have a bath?"
"Keep them from pulling off a grand escape or bringing this place down around our ears," Willow replied dryly. "I actually mean that. You boys can guard the door to the medical bay if Miss Tanrial doesn't mind helping me heat up the water in the tub."
Skipper perked up. "We get a hot bath this time? Yay! Let's go, guys!" the gaggle of children raced back into Willow's room.
"Well," Corin said. "While you lot are doing that, I'll go find the cook and ask her to make us some tea and biscuits for afterwards. I'll be back in a mo!"
Tanrial chuckled lightly, standing from where she was crouched to follow the tribe of small humans, "Okay Corin." She shut the door behind her most of the way, leaving a small gap open for light to filter through.
(sorry for the wait, took an unofficial break from Notebook for a bit there)
Bernon and Mike stood outside the door obligingly both wearing bemused expressions. Mike still looked vaguely suspicious of all this, and whispered to Tanrial that she should holler if she needed them for any reason. Willow, meanwhile, herded the children to a set of mismatched tubs and steel barrels in one corner of the room. The room itself was neat as a pin and lined with shelves, all containing carefully labeled boxes of cleaning and medical supplies. A single window high on the wall let in a bit of cold daylight, and there was a carefully-swept fireplace in the rightmost wall that contained a cauldron of hot water.
"Now Tanrial," Willow said briskly, "I'll do most of the hard work here, don't worry. All I need you to do is keep feeding the fire so it smoulders and makes the water hot, but not boiling, all right? Also pass me new bars of soap when I ask for them because these friends will definitely require more that one to get clean."
(All good man, just hope you're okay <3)
Tanrial brushed off Mike's comment, mainly because they were just children and, even though they weren't the best to deal with, were more manageable then some of the stuff they'd dealt with recently. However it was the thought that counted, "Gotcha," She headed to the fire, "Hey, you know, I'm a magic user, and I should be able to just heat up the water itself, rather then waiting for the fire to do so. Would that be okay instead?"
(I'm doing alright, I was just stressed from a work day and a doctor's appointment right after that. Luckily they're both over and done now ^^)
Willow raised her eyebrows. "Wait, you can do magic? No wonder Corin took an interest in you. Yeah, sure, your plan sounds better." After a moment, she asked, "What kind of magic can you do, exactly? And your friends, are they magic-users as well?"
(I'm glad you're doing okay now, if you need more time I understand, I'm not going anywhere and always happy to wait)
Tanrial chuckled, rubbing her hands together before she placed them in the water, a soft golden glow emitting from her palms, "Mainly elemental since it's the easiest, flight, too. Only one of my friends can do magic like I can, the other is 'just human' as he would say and is happy without any powers."
(It's fine! I really enjoy rping so its not something that causes me stress very often ^^)
The kids all stared at Tanrial with great interest and curiosity. "We just have one magic-user in this tribe," Springs piped up. "And he's only good for seein' other magic-users. We have a half-forest beast too, but he don't do much except freeze water when Willow or the cook needs ice."
"You guys reckon you're gonna stay with us?" Minnow asked hopefully. "I wanna see you fly…."
(Alrighty :) ^^)
Tanrial sighed softly, taking a moment to focus on heating the water to the correct temperature and so it wasn't too hot for the kids, "Ah, sadly we won't be staying long. We're heading West, see and kinda on a tight schedule so we need to keep moving."
"Awww." The kids pouted in disappointment.
"We could always make you prisoners and force ya to stay," Skipper pointed out hopefully.
Willow shook her head. "That's up to the chief, and if he says they can leave, that's final. I really don't know why he would let you keep your freedom, knowing how useful you could be, but you've probably noticed by now that he's not the most…..logical of men. Pass me another bar of soap, would you Tanrial?"
"Hm? Oh, yeah, of course." Tanrial reached over to one of the shelves to grab the bar. She brought it over, handing it to Willow not a moment later, "Here you go." She turned back to the kids, giving them an 'I'm sorry' look, "Sorry guys, maybe one day we'll come back and show you all."
"Hmph." Minnow scowled and stuck out her chin belligerently. "At least do some cool magic with the water while you're here! Pleeease? We wanna see!" The other children quickly took up the chant as well until Willow shushed them.
"You don't have to, of course," Willow told Tanrial firmly. "Don't pay any attention to these rude little hobgoblins."
"If you do what Willow says and you listen to her then maybe I'll show you guys a little something," She said, giving the kids a smile, "But that's only if you do exactly as she says, and that doesn't just go for just now. Can you promise me that?"
The group of kids conversed in low mutters, trying to come to an agreement. Willow took advantage of their distraction to thoroughly wash and rinse their hair. Finally, June Bug turned around and gave Tanrial a grudging nod. "Fine," she announced. "We'll be good and listen to Willow, for reals. Now will you do magic for us?"
Tanrial raised a brow, almost not expecting the kids to agree as they seemed like a rowdy bunch. However, a promise was a promise, "Of course." She raised her palm over the surface of the water, the liquid curling up and into a sphere that hovered directly over her skin.
