She stood guard and held onto Micah, hoping he had just passed out.
She stood guard and held onto Micah, hoping he had just passed out.
She glared at Micah. "No… It's not fair…" She thought. She picked up Micah and carried them to the bus.
"Let's go. Nate is dead."
(hey I'm back but I'm gonna keep him unconscious for now)
"I'm so sorry." Mariko said, her brain furiously working to understand Miles' sadness.
Phoebe lay a reassuring hand on Miles’ shoulder. “I’m sorry. But we have to go.”” They’re coming.”
Miles was bitter. She felt betrayed, like if Micah wasn't there, Nate would be alive. But she knew, deep down, Nate would have died anyway. She remembered how he would come home after school, and bring her candies, paper, and pens. He would listen to her stories about dragons and monsters and evil wizards that would be slain by the brave hero. Suddenly, tears rolled down her cheeks, the floodgates opened.
Mariko stared at Micah's sleeping face and felt her heart click back into place. Micah is safe. It's okay.
They got back to the bus, and Miles laid a white sheet over her brothers corpse. He was the only one who supported her gender fluidity. She finally got to the base. It was in a forest, the entrance in a cave. She shoved a passcard into the lock and Marie greeted her.
"Oh, honey…" she said, seeing Nate. Miles hugged her, the hug lasted five minutes.
Micah coughed, his eyes still shut. …the cell feels…warmer… His leg still stung from the bullet and his hand ached from where he had torn out the chip.
When they broke apart, Marie lifted up Micah. She carried him to the sickbay, and laid him down, attatching IVs to Micah.
She put bandages on his leg, and laid him down, putting a blanket over him.
Mariko followed Micah to the sickbay and waited for signs of life.
Marie said "Nate was my boyfriend, Miles. I was going to tell you when you returned with him, after Nathan recovered."
He heard voices, but not the creepy deep one that the guard had. Micah felt something touch his leg and something cover his body. He still didn't open his eyes, in fear that he'd find himself on his deathbed.
Micah's moniter diplaying his life signs beeped slowly, showing that he was ok.
Mariko touched Micah's hand with her metal one and scanned for a pulse. She didn't trust the moniter.
"Mari, sit by Micah. He needs you, that's what's in his subconcious. Sorry, can't help it." said Miles, "Psychics don't control what they hear sometimes."
Phoebe gripped the passed out Ayu in her arms, listening.
"Marie, you didn't have to keep it secret. I understand."
Micah felt a cold metal touch his hand and he flinched. Oh no..they're putting another chip in my other hand…I'll be stuck in VR hell forever..
A pulse. A steady one. Mariko nearly fell back with relief. "Micah, you awake?" she whispered, leaning down.
He recognized the voice. "Five more minutes…" Micah joked, his eyes opening slightly.
Mariko smiled weakly, "Hahaha. I'm laughing so hard right now."
