Amber was flabbergasted. Why would Marco do that!? He knew there were people loyal to the council in this class. Even now as she looked around at all of her shocked classmates she could see some people with faces completely wiped of emotion who were surely preparing to tell the teacher the moment she got back.
Micah took the gears, wheels, and other pieces of metal out of his pocket. He began fiddling with them as he normally did when he was nervous. To most people it looked like a jumble of metal, but to him it was a masterpiece. He never carried around any of his finished work, except the watch on his wrist. It was too risky.
The teacher dragged Phoebe down the hall to a closet, throwing her in and locking the door
Micah looked around the classroom. Many of his classmates were watching the door and waiting, and he knew that they were going to tell the teacher what Marco had done. He slid the metal back in his pocket carefully, not wanting to draw any attention. Micah sat in the back right corner of the classroom, so no one ever really payed attention to him.
(*Micah sorry I was talking to my friend and completely blanked out)
Amber looked around. Micah was putting away his gears, it wouldn't be long until somebody noticed and told someone but his secret was safe with her for now. She also noticed her best friend Victoria, she seemed scared. Amber didn't know what to do. By now Phoebe was surely in the closet and it's looking like Marco was sure to follow.
Victoria was petrified. She only had one strike but just knowing someone else was suffering was enough to make her skin crawl. She looked at amber for some support.
Micah tapped his fingers on his desk nervously. He heard the footsteps of the teacher as she walked down the hall. He didn't know what happened to people after they got a tally on their ankle, but it didn't sound like Phoebe was with the teacher. The footsteps got closer.
Amber looked at Victoria. They had a split second of eye contact and in that time decided that they should lay low and see what happens
In the dark closet, Phoebe shivered and pulled her gray school blazer tighter around her white button-up shirt. Tears continued to roll down her cheeks as she squeezed her eyes shut, terrified. That’s two strikes now., she thought. It was hopeless.
(Powers are allowed, right?)
Marco stares at the entryway to the classroom.
The footsteps stopped. Uh oh. The doorknob twisted. The door shook. The teacher pounded on the door. Micah didn't dare go open the door.
Phoebe’s ragged, strained breathing was the only thing that interrupted the accusatory silence of the Punishment Closet. Her eyes were dry now, and she shut them miserably, thick lashes still wet. A light, melodical buzzing sounded on the back of her head, and she mentally grabbed into it, allowing it to pull her along until she was standing in someone elsw’s Dreamscape. She looked around, absorbing the interesting sight around her. She was standing on an impossibly vast fluffy cloud, the sun (now purple) high in the sky. A boy, a few years younger than her, was climbing a tree. He probably fell asleep in class., she thought, floating up to him. Phoebe tapped his shoulder, and her turned around sharply, falling to the ground. “You’re asleep in class.”, she told him. “This is a dream. “Wake up quick, or you’ll get into trouble.” She then promptly exited the dream, back in the musty closet.
There was more pounding. "Excuse me?! Who locked the door?!" The teacher screamed through the door. Micah saw the ice around the door crack slightly. There was no doubt that the teacher would break it open. He didn't bother answering the question.
Marco snickers, "anyone gonna open that door?"
