Kaleb couldnt help but laugh softly at Halos nerves, making sure he didnt show his teeth, he turned his head away from Halos view. Once he had calmed enough, he looked back over his shoulder. "Nonsense. Its in my nature to help those who need it." He glanced down at Halos side, "and forgive me if i seem rude, but you do need it. The more you walk, it will open more. And even if you do manage to make it home, the pain will cause you to pass out." He motioned his head for halo to hop on. "Go ahead."
Halo bites his lip, looking down as the other laughs. He was always so nervous around people. Unless of course he was doing his job. He keeps his gaze down as the other laughs. "I- o-okay…" He whispers softly. "Y-yeah. Thank you…" He looks up, slowly standing. He stumbles a little, catching himself on Kalebs back. He bites his lip. He was very small and light. He brushes some hair from his face and slowly jumps onto his back. He rests his head on Kalebs shoulder.
He had noticed how light Halo was. For some odd reason, it reminded Kaleb of a bird. He has also seen Halo brush his white hair from his face. what unusual hair thought Kaleb, then he noticed his bright red bangs hanging in his face. im one to talk… Kalebs face darkend as the low thoughts of himself went through his head. Why would someone as kind and fair as Halo want help from him? Kalebwas thrown from his thoughts abruptly and groaned in pain when Halo jumped on. Gathering himself and adjusting Halo so he wasnt against the two tender spots on his back, "Hang on. I dont need you falling off." He made his way out of the alley and paused. "So…you may need to direct me where to go…"
Halo tries his hardest to keep still as the other adjusted him. "S-sorry! D-did I hurt you?" He asks, his eyes going wide at the sudden groan of pain. He bites his lip softly and in concern. He never liked hurting people, on purpose or on accident. He sees the dark look on Kalebs face. "S-sorry…" he mutters, looking down and resting his head on the others shoulder. "O-oh… h-home… uh…" he turns red. His home wasn't very nice, it was an apartment complex, despite his paycheck. He prefered to save the money for emergencies. "It's not to far. Go down two blocks, turn left then turn right…" He mumbles softly. "129 is the house number…"
Kaleb shook his head. "I had an injury quite some time ago…its healed, just tender. So theres no need to panic" Kaleb made a mental note of the directions and set off. His senses were on high alret, just in case to two drunks came back with reinforcements. Not that he was too worried, humans were easily scared…so all he'd have to do is show his fangs and maybe use some magic just to make sure they were really spooked. He turned his head slightly to catch a glance of the boy resting on his shoulder. "If i may…the coloring of your hair mixed with the lightness of your frame remind me of a bird," he chuckled lightheartedly "to be more precise, a dove." Speaking of birds, if the kid saw any of his magic or or found out he wasnt…normal. He could just use his wings and take off as fast as possible. Glancing up, he noticed they were walking towards a church. His stomach dropped. Panicking, he glanced around. And crossed to the opposite side of the street, trying to stay as far away as possible without seeming suspicious.
Halo rests. He felt so tired. "I-I'm sorry about the accident…" he mumbles softly. He relaxed, feeling oddly safe within Kaleb's grasp. He was exhausted, it was late, he had been working non stop and he had almost gotten mugged. He nuzzles into Kalebs shoulder, enjoying the warmth the other gave off. It was comforting. "A-a bird?" He asks, stifling a yawn. "I've been called a dove before. Or Cloud…" he mumbles. He feels the other slightly change direction and hums softly, happily relaxing. "I-If you need a place to stay tonight… if you want you could stay with me." he says quietly.
Kaleb felt his cheeks heat up slightly as Halo nuzzled into him. He was truly suprised that someone was finding comfort in his presence. Most beings, human or not, would get skittish around him. "Cloud…thats actually quite adorable." Kaleb could hear a very light pattering following very closly behind them. At first he ignored it, but Kaleb stumbled slightly at the surprise combination of Halos offer and a stray cat weaving itself between his legs. Now realizing what the pattering was, Kaleb did his best to not step on the cat who was desperately trying to get attention. "Are you sure its a smart idea to offer a stranger refuge under your roof?" Kaleb quietly tried to shoo the cat. "Plus, i dont want to impose"
Halo hums, his eyes shutting. He yawns softly. "It's what my cousin called me…" he mutters softly, drifting a little. He hears the small pitter patter of footsteps… no paws scratching at the ground. He looks up weakly and smiles a little. He was so tired, but the kitten was rather cute. He gives a small sigh and smiles a little. "I don't mind… besides…" He yawns, rather cutely, again. He nuzzles back into Kalebs warmth. "I want to repay you at least a little bit." he mumbles.
Kaleb thought about it. He was soaked…and cold, maybe having a roof over his head for once would be nice. Hes been running for so long, what harm could come if he settled down for just a few hours? "If you insist, but do not hesitate to throw me out if you want." That sounded worse than what he intended. Soon they arrived to Halos appartment. "Which one is yours?" He had noticed how cute Halo was, resting against his shoulder. He blushed lightly and focused his thoughts.
He nods a little and hums softly, "I don't kick people out…" he mutters, looking up sleepily. He sighs softly as they walk, "O-oh… 129…" He mutters, nuzzling into the warmth best he can. He was so tired. "Th-the key is under the pot…" He mumbles, yawning a little.
Noticing how exahausted Halo was, Kaleb decided that remaining silent would be best. So, making sure even his footsteps were quiet, Kaleb made his way around till he found the right appartment number. Bending down gently as to not jostle Halo, he moved the pot and grabbed the key. Kaleb stood and proceeded to unlock and open the door, but he paused before entering. Slightly unsheilding his powers once again, Kaleb looked around the visable part of the appartment, trying to sense any protective wards. Not wanting Halo to remain out in the rain, Kaleb took his chances and entered before he could complete his observation. Quietly closing the door, Kaleb mentally scolded himself for what he was about to do. "Hey," whispered Kaleb "where is your room?" He felt bad for disturbing him, but Kaleb was not about to go snooping around to find it.
Halo rests quietly on Kaleb's back, oddly feeling at peace as the other carried him. There was still that aura around Kaleb, but instead of scaring him it actually comforted him. He releases a soft sigh of content. He relaxes, a small hum exiting his lips. He feels the other lean down and hears the door open. "Mmm? Oh… last bedroom to the right…" He mumbles. The room was the master, but it was very plainly decorated. It was a gentle shade of grey and had a simple twin sized bed, a dresser at the end of the bed. There was a desk, full of files and scattered reports. A bookshelf full of novels, medical books, manga, comics, and sketch books. There was nothing special about Halo's room. Halo sighs at the warmth of his home, slowly opening his eyes.
Making his way to the room, he continued to glance around, making sure that everything was secure. For once, he didnt feel as though he was being watched, realizing this he relaxed quite abit, causing him to become very drowsy. He managed to get Halo into his room and gently sat him on the bed. "We need to make sure you get cleaned up. While they are only scrapes, its easy for them to get infected." He stood up and as he did so, a red hot pain shot through his back. shit! I hope i didnt do what i think i did! Kaleb remained composed and hid the fact that his back was in a lot of pain. Kaleb glanced around the room, pausing on the books for a moment. "Do you have a first aid kit and some washcloths?" Kaleb looked back to Halo.
Halo curled up the moment he was set down on his soft and warm bed. He gives a happy sigh, feeling drowsy. He was exhausted. He had delivered 13 babies, and had done 6 surgeries. He was brain dead at the moment. "Mmm…" He blinks slowly, his clear blue eyes hovering between open and closed. He needed a break. "I- ngh… tired…" He mumbles before pointing limply towards the spotless bathroom, "In there." He manages. "Top shelf next to the shower." He says, resting a little. He knew he needed to clean the scrapes, but he honestly was to tired. He nuzzles into his blankets, breathing in the smell of lavender and vanilla. He sighs softly, trying his hardest to stay awake.
Pushing aside the pain, Kaleb swiftly moves to the bathroom to grab the kit. He grabs a washcloth and runs it under warm water while also lathering another one with soap. Wanting to hurry before Halo becomes completely unconsious, Kaleb practically dashes back to Halos bed. "Halo? Hey, are you awake? I need you to take off your shirt." Kaleb helps him sit up, but the unusual movement cause more pain from his back, this time he couldnt help but wince under his breath. Hoping to ignore it, he goes and opens the first aid kit to find some bandages.
Halo was dozing off, the warmth of his bed helping him relax and feel safe. He lets out a little sigh as the other hurries into the bathroom. He nuzzles into his pillow, his breathing evening out. Halo looks up when Kaleb returns and shifts a little. "Y-yeah. I'm awake." he yawns softly, rubbing his eyes with the base of his palm. He sat up, wincing a little at the reopening skin on his side. "Are you okay?" He asks sleepily, looking at Kaleb. He slowly lifts his shirt off. He was slender, a healthy weight, but not muscled or malnourished. He had scars all over his body, small and scattered, but the most noticeable one was on his right shoulder. It looked like the skin had been shred open. He rolls his shoulders and sighs softly, yawning again.
Kaleb had ignored his question, instead he focused on cleaning the others injuries. As he did so, he couldnt help but let his eyes wander to the scars that were littered all over Halos body. Kaleb had noticed the large, and rather grotesque scar on his shoulder, looking back to what he was doing so he didnt make Halo uncomfortable. "If i may, what happened? To your shoulder." Kaleb mentally kicked himself for prying, his curiousity would be the end of him someday.
Halo hums softly as the other begins to clean and tend to his injuries. His eyes were closed as he relaxed, yawning sleepily. Halo opens one eye, his hand going to the scar on his shoulder, gently tracing it. He shuts his eye and shrugs. "Mmm… Bottle got thrown at me…" He says sleepily. Halo was an open book when he was tired. He sighs softly and breathes slowly. He didn't mind, after all that had happened before he died.
Kalebs eyes went wide with the answer "A…bottle?" Kaleb lowered his head. "I'm sorry for prying…" Once again his curiosity was eating at him. The unusual, albeit beautiful color of Halos hair and eyes mixed with the unusual energy he was giving off, made Kaleb almost certain that he wasn't human. Finishing cleaning the wounds, Kaleb begins to bandage them, taking his time to make sure the dressings are secure. "What are you?"Said Kaleb in a low, soothing tone. It could be considered a fairly innocuous question. Mortals would say something about their lineage, but preternatural beings would tend to answer the question much differently.
Halo shrugs, yawning again. He sighs softly, " 'S fine…" He mumbles. He yawns again, stretching a little. He was exhausted. He winces a little as he's bandaged but gives a small and tired sigh. "Mmm… fallen angel…" he mumbles, his eyes hovering between open and closed. "Or guardian…" He manages through a yawn. He was ready to sleep.
Kaleb froze. Almost immediately the hairs on his arms stood on end, his wings threatened to erupt from his back defensively. He slowly looked up at Halo, and managed to talk himself out of his fight or flight response. This fallen was tired, so tired that he wouldn't be able to do much anyways. Kaleb finished bandaging him in silence and tucked him in. Kaleb wasnt scared per say, its not the first time he's come across fallen angels. He's even been able to…dispose…of some that have tried to kill him. Kaleb waited outside of Halos bedroom till he heard him fall asleep.
Halo sleeps peacefully, his breathing slow and gentle. He was a peaceful fallen angel. He had been thrust from heaven for the most stupid of reasons. He curls in on himself, sighing softly and nuzzling into the blanket. He wasn't a spirit that could hurt anything. He was a healer spirit. He was the one that worked day in and day out to heal the sick and dying.
Listening to Halos slow breathing Kaleb relaxed somewhat, knowing that he was asleep. He quietly made his way into the bathroom and mostly closed the door before turning on the light. Peeling off his black, now hood-less, sweater and a white v-neck t-shirt to reveal sun kissed skin and somewhat defined muscled. A little towards lean side, its still quite obvious that he can put up a fight with no problem. Kaleb turned his back towards the mirror to examine the two large, freshly opened wounds where his wings usually come out. Lightly touching the tender skin around it, he hissed in pain. Not wanting his shirt to get stained, he proceeded to wash it in the sink white eyeing up the kit. "ill buy some for him tomorrow." he mumbled under his breath and he reached for the bandages. After bandaging himself up, he used some magic to quickly dry his shirt and he threw it on carefully, leaving his sweater to air dry over the shower curtain rod. Not knowing where to go, he sat down against the wall next to the front door, bringing his knees up, he rested his forehead and forced himself to sleep.
Halo was always an early riser. He yawns softly and sighs, stretching a little. the sun wasn't up yet. His wings furl out of his back as he walks into the kitchen to make breakfast. He sighs softly, relaxing a little. He felt so much better. He hums softly, starting on breakfast. He was a little sore thanks to the wound on his hip, and his hands throbbed a little, but otherwise he was perfectly fine.
It had been so long since Kaleb had actually slept, he was out like a light, dreaming of things he wouldn't remember once he woke. He was so exhausted that he didnt stir when Halo walked around. His hair tie had snapped during the night, so his very long, bright red hair was covering his back and shoulders as well as lying all around him. Kaleb snored slightly and moved, yet he remained dead to the world.
