"It's an empousa." Ryker explained. He got out of the car and started moving closer to the monster. He knew it was going to be hard to focus, since they hadn't revealed their true form yet.
"It's an empousa." Ryker explained. He got out of the car and started moving closer to the monster. He knew it was going to be hard to focus, since they hadn't revealed their true form yet.
Kaden sighed from the back. He got his sword and maneuvered out of the van.
“Isn’t that just a girl… oh.”
Ryker looked behind him and saw Kaden. "Glad you could join me," he said. He turned to face the monster again, and saw that two more girls had walked out of the station. They were sniffing around and the first one locked eyes with him. The monster gave him a winning smile. He shook his head and tried to focus.
He nodded but said nothing. He kept a tight grip on his sword.
"You need to focus to fight these guys," Ryker said. "Try to think about the donkey leg, that usually helps,"
Elizabeth watched contently through the window.
He snorted. ""Good thing I'm not attracted to donkeys." He said sarcastically
Phoebe was getting tired of waiting, so she grabbed her knife and got out. "Does it really take this long to kill a couple of monsters?"
Ryker adjusted his grip on his sword. He used all his focus on seeing the true form of the monsters. The first empousa's smile turned into a snarl, and they charged.
Tealle jumped out, "I've got your back," she said as she took her ring off and twisted the jewel on it, turning it into a bow. She drew it back and an arrow appeared on the string. Archery took focus, so she found her target and aimed. She had to focus a little more this time, but she kept her eyes locked on the monster charging at them and shot it.
Kaden mentally sighed. He hated life. He charged, netting one of them halfway. He slashed his sword at her.
Phoebe hopped on top of the hood and watched with a smile
"Thanks-" Ryker started, but was interrupted by the first monster jumping him. He dodged and slashed, hitting the monster as many times as he could. He swung, but accidentally hit the metal leg. There was a loud clang and the empousa hissed. "That better have not dented my sword," Ryker said through gritted teeth. He stabbed the monster in the side, and it turned to dust.
Tealle's arrow had hit an empousa in the side, turning it to dust. Tealle saw another charging straight for her and realized she hadn't brought any melee weapons, "Hey, can someone help?!" she yelled, dodging the monster's attacks.
Kaden managed to turn the second one to dust a few moments after the first one had gone. He swiped some sweat off his brow and was panting slightly. He cleaned off his sword then compacted it back down to a bracelet. He slid it on then got back in the van.
Ryker spun on his heel and ran after the other empousa. He stabbed it in the back before it could reach Tealle. It turned to dust and he threw his sword up, letting it turn back into a pencil.
Phoebe clapped from her spot on the hood. "Nice job hot shot." She called out to him.
"Thanks," Tealle nodded. She twisted a jewel that was on her bow, which turned it back into a ring. She got back in the van, breathing heavily and slightly sweating.
Ryker bowed. "All in a day's work," he said, putting his pencil back in his pocket.
She laughed and slid off the hood. She kissed his cheek softly and got back in the van. "Let's stop at a hotel for tonight, so you three can at least shower."
"Good idea," Tealle agreed.
Elizabeth’s eyes sparkled. Wow.
"Yeah, good idea," Ryker said, getting back in the driver's seat. He put the van in drive and pulled out of the gas station. "We'll probably stop in Montreal,"
Teri was feeling sick. My stomach…
