Asura tried not to stare at her arms, looking at a saltshaker on the counter instead. Do you have any idea how we could pull that off?

For now we should just watch and wait. Where’d Ro go?, she conveyed telepathically, shrugging her jean jacket back on, embarrassed, and spooning a third helping of mayonnaise onto her plate:
Don't know. She slips away sometimes. He drummed his fingers.
Lavender accepted this silently, licking the mayo off her lips. Returning her phone and headphones to her satchel, she stealthily checked in the tiny Dino egg. It had a single crack in it, and the egg tooth was peeking through. Crap., she thought. “Erm, Asura? Do you know if we get our own bedrooms?”
No, Asura thought. But if you wanted to keep your Dinosaur egg a secret, your first step should've been to close the communication line between our minds.
F**k., Lavender thought, not necessarily at him. If you tell anyone I will maim you., she hissed telepathically, only half joking. Ill explain later, I just need to get this to somewhere safe.
Try the restroom, he thought, nodding toward the door at the corner. If you need help, let me know.
(HI I'm back just temporarily!)
Mozos heard the conversation they were having, but didn't interject, it wasn't his business. But Asura should take his own advice. He went back to cleaning the dishes trying to tune them out.
Thanks., she replied, disabling the link. Announcing that she ‘had to use the washroom’, Lavender got up, and two minutes later was standing by the sink with the door loncjed, having made a little nest for the egg out of the fluffy hand towels she discovered in a drawer. How had the egg gotten in her bag? It should’ve been in the incubator—-Oh., Lavender thought to herself, realizing immediately what had happened. It had been her shift to check on the smaller eggs this morning, which she had done directly before popping out to grab a coffee for her and the Dr.’s son, Omeo. She must’ve set the satchel down in front of the incubator while checking and rotating the eggs, and accidentally knocked one put with her hand, not noticing in her rush.
Asura turned to Mozos. "So, what did you do for a living before you got stuck here?" He asked.
Mozos thought for a second and replied, " I did anything and everything, from busing tables" Mozos put the last plate away and gave air quotes," Private Security."
Asura hummed in reply, and his eyes landed on the coffee machine. "What does coffee taste like?" He asked curiously.
"Depends, on you and how you make it, some types of coffee can be sweet and others bitter. They can be thick or thin tasting too. It all depends on you. Would you like me to make you some ?" Mozos finished.
Asura sighed sadly. "There's no point. I can't taste," he admitted.
Mozos chuckled. "The demons here have the same problem," Mozos said rushing through the cupboard to his left."Aha, all they need to do is add some spice." He pulled out a ghost pepper." the acids in these thin out something in your mouth, and bada bing bada boom, you can taste it."
"Is that the only thing I can taste?"
Stupid, careless Labemder. Lavender studied the the egg. Judging by the size, shape, and coloration, it was probably an Aquilops spliced with Capelot Drake genes, maybe with a bit of salamander to aid the fire resistance of the scales, and probably some butterfly genes to alter the growth rate and final size and weight. Itll probably hatch in about 8 hours., Lavender estimated. This one had most likely come from the batch with 78% Dino and 22% dragon.
When Lavender has finally succeeded in running away from the Faerie cult, she’d spent almost a year on the streets, zigzagging from shelter to shelter so as not to be re-captured, trying to follow the fractures clues of her life to find her real parents, the ones she’d been take. From as a baby. After a train crashed into an underground subway wall, Lavender, seeking shelter from the freezing cold, discovered a secret passageway. As she followed it down, down, eventually hacking a secure, locked door, she happened upon a secret genetics lab where a team of scientists were attempting to bring back extinct species of dragon using ancient DNA they’d discovered. Since genetic mutation like this was tricky in itself, then adding the magic found in dragon genes would raise the risks and the stakes, so the scientists had decided to start with dinosaur genes, slowly introducing tha dragon DNA as experiments succeeded. Through a manner of events, they took her in, and she became the tamer and trainer of the smaller, smarter raptors.
"Nope, it takes away what keeps you from tasting, thus making you taste the actual flavor of the food."
"Let me try it," He said quickly. "I really want to know what coffee tastes like."
Mozos quickly served the coffee to Asura, making sure to mix in the hottest of the now crushed peppers before serving it.
He took the mug of coffee gratefully, taking small sips. A spicy taste filled his mouth, before a bittersweet one replaced it. He made a face.
"Yeah that coffees unflavored," Mozos said seeing Asura's face." So now you just have to experiment around to find what you like."
"Well why would you give me something unflavored?" He asked, looking around the counter for sweetener.
" You asked for coffee, here lets try this,"Mozos put in caramel creamer," This is the kind that I like personally, but you should really find what suits you most."
Asura tasted it again. It was much sweeter, with a bitter tinge, but he liked it. "Thanks," he said. His mind raced wondering what other things tasted like.
