(I take that back— @no , you can post your character whenever you’re ready :D)
A man walked through the crowd of people who were headed towards the center of the city; towards the event and the opening of the government’s newest project.
He’d eye a lot of the people who passed him and eventually, curiosity got the best of him.
He turned around and started following the crowd. Just where were they going? And why does this seem so important to them? He wondered.
Andy slipped through the crowd, wings folded around their body and a large sweatshirt over that. They had heard a commotion from where they where staying and decided to follow everyone to… wherever they were going. This might be a bad idea. They thought to themself, waving that thought away as they pushed through the crowd.
Therese, as always, was sick of people. The number of times she had been bumped into or shoved out of the way—not helped by her height and stature— rose steadily the longer she was out and about, and it seemed to have picked up just recently. In fact, all of the people were headed in the same direction.
After a couple minutes, she gave into her curiosity, turning to look in the direction the people were moving. She bumped into a man at least a foot taller than her in the process, huffing out something like an apology as she debated following the crowd. “Nothing better to do…” She muttered, taking a step forward.
Goldie did her best to weave through the crowd of people, avoiding as much physical contact as she could. Still, people kept streaming past her, all heading towards the city's center. She huffed quietly, pushing her way past people and not bothering to apologize. Eventually, she just stopped, arms crossed. If this many people were going to… wherever they were going, she might as well see what was going on. She turned on her heel, following the crowd. Well, she followed the same direction of the crowd, making her way through them at a quick pace.
At the central, the government officials surrounded the entire place.
After a few minutes, a representative stood up on the pedestal and started—
”Good afternoon everybody. As representative of the ‘Civilized World’ party, I would like to thank everyone for voting for us and letting us develop the country and perhaps the world into something much better than it is” they took a small pause.
”As you all may know, our main course of action is to create a society where humans ‘rule’ the World…”
”To ensure full success on this plan, we will have to destroy natural habitats on land and in water alongside with its residents. But fear not, we already have fresh air generators and clean water distributors prepared for everyone” most of the crowd laughed and cheered. They seemed to support this idea.
”Thank you, thank you. Now, our ‘renovation’ plan will start… tomorrow! Thank you in advanced for your cooperation!” the representative stated as they got off the pedestal, sent off by the cheers of the crowd.
Finn’s eyes were stressed. He stared at the officials with much disgust. He needed to do something about the situation. To have every natural habitat around the city destroyed and stained would be the extinction of many, many species.
They were going to what? Therese's eyes went wide as she listened to the official speak, reaching up to anxiously shove her hair back from her face. Getting rid of the natural habits meant taking away her garden, destroying the forests just outside the city that she loved, and killing so many innocent creatures. This wasn't civilization, it was the opposite. It was near-apocalyptic, honestly.
Forgoing her own self-preservation instincts, she raised her voice, fairly easily speaking above the noise. Pros of being raised in one of the last remaining circuses. "What kind of idea is that?" She shouted, drawing herself up as high as she could, which wasn't much in her flats. "Oh, this house is on fire, why don't we just bulldoze it while it's burning!"

Andy scowled at the girl who spoke up, they elbowed her. "Be quiet, you're going to get us killed." They hissed, moving to stand in front of her and looking up at the officials. "So sorry, my sister must not have taken her medicine today."
I am not getting killed because of a brash idiot, stand down.
"You're the only one bringing attention to yourself." Therese countered, stuffing her hands in her pockets to keep from doing something else that would get her in trouble, as well. "And don't ever touch me, or they're going to be the least of your worries." With that, she spun around, muttering something under her breath as she slipped back into the crowds of people. Heading home was in her best interest. Someone had to protect her garden, afterall.
Andy shook their head, they at least saved a kid from getting shot for 'disobeying the law'. They'd seen enough of their family get killed for that. They sent a fake smile to the officials before vanishing back into the crowd. Oh dear, time to find that lady and apologize. They thought with a frown, slipping through the crowd and finally locating her based on the muttering under her breath. "Sorry about that."
Therese just hummed, almost disbelievingly, her fingers tracing the tattoos on her arm in what was almost a nervous habit. "I get not wanting attention drawn anywhere near you. But I don't do touch well." She could understand that, absolutely. But her family had been the only ones to ever touch her, because they were the only ones mostly unaffected by the things she could do. She was always at risk of another 'incident'. And nobody wanted that. Not her, for the guilt, not the victim of the poison in her veins, nor anyone witnessing the event.
"It was my fault, I shouldn't have touched you." Andy paused awkwardly. "This may sound weird, but are you a hybrid? You smell of Belladonna." They clasped their hands together. "That sounds weird, I'm sorry."
Therese tilted her head, looking over at the stranger. Her bright and strangely colored eyes looked them over once, before she returned to looking forward. It was obvious they weren't fully human either, so maybe it was safe to admit. "I am. And you're spot on. Nothing I do can really rid me of the smell, no matter what I've tried. What about you?"
Andy looked around, making sure they were in the clear before shrugging off their jacket and letting their wings spread. "Vulture." They ruffled their feathers and brought one wing in front of them to smooth out said wing. "I don't like jackets." They said plainly.
"Far enough. I can't say I do either." Therese shrugged, gaze turning to their wings. Her cool expression flickered with what might have been fascination, and she studied the wings with interest. "You know, wings like that would make someone a killing in my family's business. Taking the highwire and doing all sorts of falling tricks with them. I'd have killed for something like that."
Finn had heard the female shout out, yet he chose to not pay much attention to it. After all, it’s not worth all the eyes that would look at him if he said something in reply to the female.
He, in the end, decided to walk towards where he heard the voice come from while also stuffing his face in the scarf he had, hiding his facial features except for his eyes. Upon reaching the group, he made presence known by staying a soft: “Hello…”
Therese's shoulders stiffened at the new voice, the excitement and interest in her expression disappearing as she returned to the cool look. "Hello. Something we can help you with?" She asked, turning to eye the new stranger. Hm. Something weirdly familiar about him, and yet strange, at the same time. Definitely good to keep an eye on him, until she could judge for sure what kind of person he was.
Andy shot their wings down, wrapping them around their body. "Hello." Andy muttered, throwing their jacket back on with a huff. They weren't a predator, they didn't kill, but this guy saw their wings and he would probably go blab.
Finn eyed the two a bit then pulled his scarf down.
”Are you perhaps… one of those ‘hybrids’ as the officers call them?” the man asked with an uninterested tone. He paced back and forth subconsciously in seemed.
