Vaughn stepped into the classroom as he rubbed at his tired eyes. He glanced around the room for any familiar faces ad noticed Paige and Zanna. Zanna seemed off, so he decided not to bother her. He stepped over to Paige, sitting down in the seat next to hers. “You mind if I sit here?”
Paige shrugged. "Nah, go ahead." She leaned her elbows against her desk and rested her chin in her palms.
Vaughn looked around the room for a moment in silence before turning his head to look at Paige now. “Are you okay?” He suddenly asked.
Paige tilted her head as she turned to look at him. She assumed that he was talking about the whole 'Reid' thing. "Yeah I'm fine. What about you? Don't think that I forgot about our conversation earlier."
Zanna put her notebook away. She pulled out a different one, this one was filled with names. She flipped through it until she reached an empty line around a four to five pages from the end. She wrote down 'Reid: Tried to fuck me. Touched my butt. Was an overall nuisance.' She flipped through all the names again. Killed. Killed. Killed. Raped me. Killed. Killed. Abusive piece of shit. Killed. Killed. Zanna paused at a name. Her eyes got teary before she shut her notebook. She put her face down so no one could see her cry.
Vaughn gave an innocent expression, a very faint smile showing through. “I have no clue what you’re talking about,” he simply said.
She rolled her eyes. "I'm serious, Vaughn. What the hell was that?" Paige lowered her voice. "Do you get injected often? What do they inject you with?"
Vaughn exhaled slowly, rubbing a hand over his face. “It’s just medication, and I get injected once a day, more if necessary. I don’t know exactly what it is,” he explained in a low tone.
Paige nodded along. "What does the medication do? Do you have a disease or medical condition?"
“It just calms me down, and I really don’t want to talk about it..” Vaughn murmured, glancing away.
She sighed. "Fine. I won't talk about it."
“Just-“ Vaughn started, but sighed sharply. “We can talk about it, just not in class.”
Paige nodded. "Alright. I'll meet you after class…in the library?"
Vaughn nodded slowly in agreement. “Yes, that sounds good,” he said.
She smiled at him. "Great. See you then." Paige turned to the front of the classroom, where the teacher began talking.
The corner of Vaughn’s lips twitched up into a smile as he faced the front, leaning against his elbows as he listened.
Zanna looked up to the teacher. Tears still glistening in her eyes. She reached up and wiped them away.
Paige glanced over at Zanna and for a split second, she swore she saw a tear fall down the other girl's cheek.
Zanna couldn't concentrate. Her mind was filled with memories. Leo, Leo, Leo. Why did he have to die? He was such a good kid.
She looked over at Zanna, trying her best to get her attention without disrupting the class.
Zanna saw Paige trying to get her attention. She ignored her.
Paige sighed and turned back towards the front of the class, not even bothering to write down the notes that the teacher had written on the board. Usually, she was a good student but this school had drained her so much already that she didn't even process the words that the teacher was speaking.
Zanna didn't bother to listen to the teacher she just sort of laid there. After Leo's death, Suzan always pestered her about him. The other side didn't know the truth, nd probably never would.
Paige decided to leave Zanna alone. She rested her head down on the table, planning on falling asleep or at least getting some rest.
Zanna sighed she opened the notebook again and looked at Leo's picture. When they were kids the two of them were inseparable. That was until Leo was murdered by a bunch of bullies. Zanna refused to show for weeks, and when she did she was… different. The first thing she did after Leo's death was start a gang and killed the people who killed him. The happy little girl was dead, and Zanna leader of the Storm Chasers was born.
