Althea's pride stung at Marco's remark. "Who says?" She grabbed the glass defiantly and downed it in one go. She didn't even cough.

Marco sat back into his chair, satisfied. "That's better."

Althea set the glass down roughly, ignoring the sudden ache in her stomach.

I let go of my knees, leaning forward slightly until my hands lay on the table, carrying my weight. "Hey, you okay? I can get you some water?" Her eyebrow twitches slightly. Is she in pain? "Hey? Hey I could go get some painkillers or something. I'm sure there's a shop nearby and-" I'm a wanted criminal right now, what the hell am I saying? Also, with what money? Idiot-idiot-idiot… "Actually… maybe that's not the best idea."

Althea laughs. "I'm fine, Alastair. And it's not like you can go waltzing into a shop either."

Marco created a police pin and tosses it to Alastair. "Don't wanna be caught by them, do you?"

"Haha, yeah… So, we've hit each other, threatened each other, and now we're all drinking. What's next?" I think about the woman on the news and the bag. "Hey, do you think she might be on those criminal records you were talking about? She's not the same woman I stole the bag from, so maybe she's… dodgy. You know?"

Althea nodded. "True." She stood up, disguising the effort in words. "Let's check it out." She went back into the office and flipped on the lights. Sitting down at the desk, Althea turned on the computer and flipped through her personal documents, searching for the gatepage into the criminal records.

I watch Althea. She is in pain. I don't know how much and she's bloody good at hiding it but Marco's hit did something. A punch from somebody like Marco with his powers could be stronger than the average, but even a normal hit can do damage. Stomach… that's where she got it right? So stomach should have absorbed the hit, especially since she's a woman right? I remember how excited Ai-… How excited he was when he found out about how a pregnant woman's body is designed to protect that area, to protect the womb and baby. So, I'm guessing her body, even though she's probably not pregnant, would do the same. I begin to tap my left leg. So what the hell is the damage? Worst case, maybe acute internal bleeding for a normal hit, but the pain would be terrible. She needs something. Shit, I never thought reading his books and listening to his college stories would ever actually help me in the future like this haha… Maybe I'm just overthinking this but if there's anything I can do, I should do it. "How bad is the bruising? Don't hide it, you've been acting different ever since Marco hit you."

Althea let her cool facade slip while she was staring at the screen. When she turned around, she was once again stone-faced. "Alastair, stop obsessing and help me find the lady," she scolded him.

"Shit!" Marco stood. "Did, I hurt you that badly?"

Althea sighed exasperatedly. "No, I'm perfectly fine, guys. Just let it go."

"You know that when anyone says that they're fine, they are absolutely, NOT fine!" Marco found the bathroom and grabs the painkillers. He rushes back to the office, "here. Take these, now." Marco creates a glass and then fills it with water.

"…" I stay sat, "Fine, but I swear if you get worse I'm getting you morphine."

"…" I stay sat, "Fine, but I swear if you get worse I'm getting you morphine."

(I stay seated.)

Althea smiles gratefully and takes the medication from Marco. She swallows and downs the water. Then, turning back to the screen, she says, "Let's get back to business."

"To defeat the Huns," Marco mutters.

"Did they give me daughters… when I asked… for sons…" I almost whisper, moving closer to Marco and Althea.
