"Jessica's former caretaker. Thanks for helping us dispatch her," Sam said curtly. There was an awkward pause for a couple of seconds. "Can you help us get Jessica's stuff?"

Kiera stopped. "I see." she clears her throat awkwardly. "I came to apologize for the way I acted back there. It was unlike me to snap at you like that."

Kiera nods at the question and begins getting Jessica's stuff while awaiting their response.

Kiera saw Jessica and her family and the whole situation made sense. She felt so selfish to think they were just ditching her. "Here Jess, I can take the kids back to the campus. You get your stuff I'll meet you guys there."

Kiera almost fell to the ground at the sight of the dog. The way her mother had treated her was nowhere near healthy.

Sam stood there, eyes wide. "I…I…" For the first time, Sam was at a loss for words. They finally brushed a quick hand across their eyes. They scooped up the baby gently. "Hey, you, the older girl, what's your name?"

As Sam saw the dog, they ran towards it, stroking its neck gently. "Hey, does anyone have any healing powers here?"

Kiera felt so out of place. "Sam, please, I'll take the kids and the dog too if it's helpful." The older girl approached her saying, "You saved us."

Sam nodded at Kiera and sat down at a desk on the other side of the room. They grabbed a piece of paper and a pen, beginning to write.

Kiera stepped back, unintentionally phasing backward through the wall. As she was not expecting this, she fell backward and landed on the doorstep hitting her head. She winced and tried to stand.

When Sam finished, they slipped the paper into their pocket. "Alright. Can you guys freshen up for a bit- all of you- while I head to the market and get some food?"

They heard a thud behind them and turned around. "Kiera! Where did you go!" Sam yelled. "Are you okay?"

Kiera winced in pain and remained seated on the step. Once again she was clearly not welcome. Despite her efforts, she had failed her friends somehow. She put her head into her hands and thought hard. "What do I do"

Sam came outside, holding a wallet. They turned around to see Kiera on the steps, nearly tripping over her. "hOLY SH*T, Kiera! There you are!" Then they noticed Kiera's head in her hands. Sam sat down with her. "Hey, you okay?" they asked softly.
