A roleplay based upon James Cameron's fantastic world of Pandora, set after the events of the 2009 movie.
After the destruction of the Hometree, the Omaticaya must migrate and seek help from their neighboring clans. Their purpose in life now is to rebuild and heal the war-ravaged Pandora.
Summary of the clans of Pandora:
I've based the list on info gained from the Wiki. various websites, and the game story (which I have not played, but read about). Note: A banshee becomes an Ikran with its Pandoran after tsaheylu (the bond) is performed.
Clans in Alphabetical Order:
-Anurai - Known for their art and musical instruments made from bone and other materials, their strong imaginations, and ingenuity. Their numbers were greatly reduced down to a handful due to a terrible incident with a human named Sean Wallen, who had wanted to sell their artifacts on the black market of Earth. Assumedly ride direhorses. They are located in "a sanctuary littered with the bones of ancient animals."
-Horse Clans of the Plain - Contain several Na'vi clans, one being the Olangi. They are located in the wide open plains. The clans live in the shade of the massive trees that number the plain, making homes that are thought to be wicker huts, made from long grasses or wood, with fires in the center.
The clans specialized in cavalry, utilizing direhorses.
-Ikran People of the Eastern Sea - Consist of one or more clans who specialize in riding mountain banshees. Though to include the Kekunan and Tayrangi clans.
-Kekunan - Considered to have greater skill at banshee riding than any other clan; they have fast reflexes, cool composure, and have courageous hearts which help them accomplish this feat. They wear bright and loud colors symbolic to the creatures that support their way of life. They particularly enjoy the activity of jumping from one floating mountain to another, and daring their fellow clan members in other daring feats. They teach their children about banshee riding from a young age. They are very skilled at aerial hunting, often from hundreds of meters off the ground. They are found in the deep jungle and neighbor the Tawkami clan. This is one of the clans of the Ikran People of the Eastern Sea, and is located near the Eastern Sea just north of the Tayrangi clan.
-Li'ona - Had some involvement with the Sean Wallen incident; a human took revenge on them for Wallen's death, but was stopped by a warrior. Are assumed to be a medium-sized clan living in the jungle. Assumedly ride direhorses.
-Metkayina - Located on Pandora's reefs; smaller clan; ride Ilu as mounts
-Ni'awve - First ever Na'vi clan; first to make contact with the humans on Pandora; live in the Valley of Origins, in which the Ni'awve Hometree grows. Assumedly ride direhorses.
-Olangi - Olangi clan is one of the only known named horse clans. They are nomadic, with their movement based on following game during its seasonal migratory patterns. They highly value the freedom this allows them, seeing it as a privilege and a birthright to have the chance to spiritually "see" much of Pandora. Above all other horse clans of the plain, they're seen as premier direhorse riders.
-Omaticaya - Known for their brilliant textiles; perform the Iknimaya rite of passage at a certain age, in which they climb the Hallelujah Mountains to find an ikran. Once tsaheylu is performed between the ikran and the Omaticayan, the young Omaticayan is now a clan member, and can carve his/her bow from the wood of the hometree, as well as choose a mate. They also ride direhorses. Their Hometree was destroyed in battle.
-Tawkami - Sky Seer Clan. They neighbor the Kekunen clan and reside in the deep jungle in the village of Greenhome. They are known for their persistent quest for knowledge and lorekeeping. They seem to also have a writing system. They are also known for their knowledge of chemistry. They are the only clan capable of producing the plexiglass-like material required for banshee rider's masks (other clans use the wings of large insects), and a vast array of potions and other concoctions besides. Their knowledge of chemistry extends to natural oils extraction and tranquilizers. The clan has also learned to control the chemical nature of the potent fruit to alter the very surface of Pandora. This skill has provided great advantage over predators in the past. It has been said that where most see a beautiful landscape, the Tawkami see Pandora as an elaborate recipe. The Tawkami award multicolored sashes to alchemical apprentices among their own.
The Tawkami consider it their mission to sustain the sacred nature of the ecosystem on Pandora. Many of their number shelter within massive bioluminescent flowers such as the Healing Rose in order to meditate and attain spiritual wisdom.
-Tayrangi - Known for their ikran riding prowess similar to their sister clan Kekunan.
They utilize this to fish for aquatic creatures in the Pandoran ocean, diving in a fashion similar to the Terran cormorant fish, then flying back out. They have a deep knowledge of the air and sea, including underwater migratory and feeding patterns. Because of this activity, the Tayrangi have strong swimming skills and have a reverence for the larger aquatic predators they come across.
The members of Tayrangi clan are independent spirits, untethered to convention and unburdened by even the strictest of Na'vi clan rules. Their notable traits are those of being unconventional, eclectic, adaptable, and progressive.
This is one of the clans of the Ikran People of the Eastern Sea, and is located near the Eastern Sea just south of the Kekunan clan.
-Tipani - Consist of a dozen individual villages in the jungle led by local village elders. This was one of the first to have contact with the humans who came to Pandora. They are a very spiritual tribe, and are known to be cunning and highly dangerous in combat.
During their adolescent years, strict focus is set on developing both the mind and body for battle under the clan elders. A centuries-old tradition sees elders accompany groups of warrior apprentices into the woods where athleticism and tranquility are put to the test. Success is not measured by the ability to slay a creature, for many come home empty-handed. It is measured by the ability to stalk prey without making one's presence known. A master warrior must first acquire the art of light-footedness before training in the art of the kill.
They are the only tribe known to wear armor, including helmets.
Creating your Pandoran:
To keep things simple, all characters will be from the Omaticaya clan (the main clan in the movie).
