Cyrus texted back, 'I'm not so sure I want to go'
He had gotten dressed and stood in front of his mirror, nervously running a hand through his hair, but he couldn't gather up the will to actually leave.
Vida, on the other hand, took off down the stairs after Nathan. She was wearing a cute little dress, and looked every bit as much like a normal girl as the next 10-year-old.
Sparrow laughed and looked at the two kids. "Stay here, I'm going to grab Cyrus then we shall go visit your aunt and uncle." She said and walked up the stairs to find Cyrus. She found him in front of the mirror and smiled. "Why dont you want to go? It's been a while since we have seen Uriah and Luna."
"It's not that I don't want to see them…" he whispered, then closing off a bit.
"Why did it have to be today? You know what today is."
He closed his eyes.
"Besides, my knee's acting up. I think there's a storm coming."
He was looking for literally any excuse to not celebrate a day like this one.
Luna was getting ready to go to meet up with the others. She was braiding her hair. Over the past two years, she had let it grow out a little so it reached her mid-back. Part of it was still white, but the rest was back to its natural black. A few of her old habits never died down, like how she always had a weapon on her, or how she felt the safest when she was wearing anything with a hood, but her stutter had died down significantly only acting up in moments of great stress or panic. She stood up from where she was and went to check on the girls playing with the ring on her finger. Luna never thought she would get married or being in charge of children, but here she was. Doing both. She checked her phone to see the texts before looking opening the door to the girls' room, "Katya? Esmae? Are you two ready?"
Katya was all dressed up in jeans and a jacket. She turned to where Luna, well her mom? She didn't really know and just called her Luna. She gave her a nod, "I'm ready. Don't know about Esmae.
Luna answered the text, 'We're just waiting for Uriah and Esmae over here.'
'If you don't want to go Cyrus, we can move the date.'
Esmae, now 14 she walked out in dark blue skinny jeans and a light pink crop top. Her waist length hair pulled into a bun. She had grown a lot taller. She always knew she was tall, but by now she wanted to stop growing. Unlike Katya, Esmae was comfortable with calling them mom and dad. It had been two years. "Mom! Farron is going to drive me if that's okay.?" Running down stairs she grabbed her black leather jacket. Aaron her first true friend and now crush, although he didn't know that. Uriah fixed his tie and walked down after the stairs after Emsae. "When was this decided, we never said you could go with him." Esmae laughed and gave Uriah a hug. "You're to over protective." Kissing him on the cheek she walked out the door. With a sigh Uriah walked over to Luna and kissed her forehead. "What are we going to do with her?" He knew she was 14, but she was growing up too fast. "Katya, are you ready." A family, it was weird to think. It has been a year since him and Luna had been married, but Uriah adopted Esmae a few weeks after returning from that incident. Then both Luna and him adopted Katya. This was his family and he loved them all.
(Wait, so are Cyrus and Sparrow married yet, or just living together?)
Cyrus saw his phone flash as he got a message. He glanced at it and showed it to Sparrow.
"I don't want to stop you guys from having fun, but…"
Luna gave him a smile and kissed his cheek in return as she shrugged, "No idea, you're the one who agreed to take care of her." Katya stepped out of the room, she had gotten taller as well. Still the same awkward gangly nine-year-old, but now she was elven and even taller. She knew a bit more about her past after getting scared by a gunshot one unfortunate day, and Kat knew it wasn't a pleasant one. She looked at Uriah, "Um, yeah I'm ready." Luna smiled at Katya and then up at Uriah, "Did you get the texts? Cyrus isn't sure if he's going to be able to make it. Probably has to do with what t-today is." Luna winced a little as she stuttered on the word. It had been a while since she last stuttered. The last time had probably been when she had finally been able to tell everyone what happened during the one year they all thought she was dead, and that had been an awful day for her.
"Hm," Uriah was a bit saddened by the news that Cyrus might not come. He hadn't seen him in a while since he left the guild to run his business. "Well let's just hope he does." No matter how much he wanted to persuade him to come he wasn't going to push it. "Well, Sparrow will be there." Uriah limped to the car. It was hard for him to drive, but he managed. He just felt bad that if someone came after his family he wouldn't be able to protect them to his best abilities. And Luna already knew he was hard on himself, no matter how much she said it wasn't his fault, for some reason he felt it was. Esmae better be there when we get there. Uriah knew exactly how she felt about Aaron. And she had grown so much, from that closed off girl that hated everyone, to a girl who cared deeply for those she loved. Uriah struggled to get in the car, but once he was he stared it.
Luna ushered Katya into the car and her daughter slipped into the back seat. Some days it was easy to think she was a mother, other days reality decided to remind her that her eldest daughter was only 5 years younger than her. she got into the front seat and looked over at Uriah. She understood the mindset that he had, she had something similar even though she was much more quiet about it overall. It was hard to open up to people about her problems after being trained to keep them bottled up for so long, "Sparrow does seem to be coming. She'll probably try to convince Cyrus to come."

Sparrow sighed and came to stand beside him, wrapping an arm around his waist. "The reason we chose today was to turn that fateful day into a happy moment. The day we all got rid of our worst nightmare. I know you might not want to have fun on a day like today, but we deserve a break from time to time. We barely get to see the whole gang togather since we disbanded the White Wings." She said. Nathan ran into the room and hid behind Cyrus' leg. "Dad! Vida is trying to tickle me!" He whisper yelled. "Help!"

Cyrus frowned.
"I know, I just can't shake the feeling that- never mind…" he whispered.
That was the day I became most like him…
He plastered on a fake smile. "I'll go. There's no point in getting everyone else down, now is there?"

Sparrow smiled "theres the Cyrus I know. Let's go, I want to drive." She said and walked out of the room, gesturing for Nathan to follow.
Good, I don't know if I can handle driving right now. My nerves are getting the better of me.
Cyrus started outside, but Vida zoomed past him before he could set foot out the door.
She had never been comfortable addressing them like her parents. She remembered her parents too clearly. Besides, Cyrus had always reminded her of her brother. Way too much.
Once he got to the car, he sat back in the passenger seat and looked over to Sparrow.
"I love you," he said softly.
Vida climbed into the back seat.
"Eeeew, they're gonna kiss again!"
Sparrow smiled. "I love you too." She responded and looked through she rear view mirror at vida with a mock angry look. "I wont take you with me if you dont behave, missy!" She teased. Hearing the laughter of Nathan in the background, Sparrow pulled out of the driveway and started heading to their destination. "Cyrus, can you do me a favour and text Uriah and Luna that we are on our way?"
Vida giggled and looked over to Nathan.
Cyrus nodded and sent, 'We're pulling out of the driveway. See you guys soon.'
He rested his head against the window and peered outside. Two years ago, huh? It still felt like it could've been yesterday. After all, Cyrus relived it a lot when left alone to think. But he didn't want to tell everyone it was still that bad.
Luna felt her phone buzz and a little smile appeared on her face as she checked her messages. She looked over at Uriah, “Looks like Cyrus is coming. They’re on their way to the meet up place right now.”
"Wonderful, guess we'll be able to see him." Uriah was excited to see his best friend. After the incident, he told everyone he was moving into the house that was behind his father's company. It was a decent size. So he wasn't able to visit much he had only seen him about 5 times since he moved since he was busy. Luna and the girls went there more often. Esmae was still training, bit to be an assassin of sorts, but just enough to where if something happened she would be ready, but she was also learning to be a normal girl. Uriah pulled up and parked the car. He tried his best to get out of the car quickly and open the door for Luna. In every thing he did, Uriah tried his best to show his love for her, especially since he couldn't do too much.
Luna let Uriah rush and open the door for her. She knew what he was trying to do and knew at this point it was better to let him hurry and rush than to beat him to it. Once the door was open and Luna stepped out of the car she leaned up to kiss Uriah’s cheek. She gave him a soft smile understanding how much these get togethers meant for him, “Yeah. It will be nice.”
Katya got out on her own making a face at the pda her caretakers, parents, were showing.
Uriah took her arm and led her inside. For some reason he was feeling nervous, the closer he got the more his heart beat rose. He opened the door and immediately many people he hadn't seen for a while were there, smiles on their faces as they celebrated a new freedom they got two years ago. Some of them were even from Panther's guild, mostly the children. By the snack table he saw Esmae laughing and talking to the redheaded boy. With a sigh he looked over to Katya. "Why don't you go see if any of your friends are here?" No matter what Uriah did to get closer to Katya, he still felt like she was keeping her distance, which made him a bit sad.
Sparrow parked the car and sighed, "you guys need to be in your best behaviour, ok? That's means no fighting." Sparrow said looking at the kids. She smiled and got out of the car, standing up and stretching before looking at Cyrus with a smile. "Ready to go?"
"I'm always on my best behavior!" Vida replied insistently, "Nathan's the one who starts things."
Cyrus nodded. He didn't quite have a smile on his face- in fact, his expression was pretty neutral. He got up from the seat and closed the door behind him.
"It's been a while, huh?" he said, mostly to himself.
Katya gave Uriah a weird look, but walked over to the snack table. She didn't see Vida or Nathan yet, but maybe Esmae would let her hang out until they showed up. It wasn't that she didn't feel close to Luna and Uriah, it was just she had a mental barrier preventing her from getting close. Perfect considering over half their little family was mentally unstable.
Luna looked over at Uriah as she looked around the guild. She didn't feel the need to put her hood up yet, "Let's go see if our friends are here yet."
"Good idea." Uriah looked around but hadn't see Sparrow or Cyrus yet. He hoped they would be happy to see him. Esmae laughed at some weird joke Aaron said and played with her ponytail. She then saw Katya walk over and Esmae waved. "Aaron you know Katya." Katya was the only one she felt weird calling her family, since they didn't get along at first, she figured it was fine now, but she was sure Katya didn't want to be sisters with her. "Right, your sister right?" Emsae just laughed awkwardly and looked at Katya. "Yeah…" Aaron moved around Esmae and held out his hand. When he was young he was a scrawny kid, but now he was much taller and definitely had more muscle. "It's nice to meet you Katya." His red hair couldn't be tamed so he didn't even try anymore, although somehow it suited him.
Nathan stuck out his tongue and ran inside, looking for his friends. He spied Katya and Esmae standing togather talking and ran over to them. "Hey guys!" He smiled
Sparrow yelled after Nathan but when he disnt come back, she shook her head and smiled. "That boy will be the death of me." She said softly and held Cyrus's hand. "Let's go meet the others."
