“Now, there’s a mission I want you to fulfil but it’s very dangerous,” He started, “I want you to kill the crown prince of the eastern continent. Meaning you’ll be travelling across sea for this.”
Blaine quirked an eyebrow, covering her shock at his words. He wanted them… to kill a prince? Had she just heard correctly?
"I'm sorry, did I hear you correctly, sir?" Andion asked, leaning forward as Thranion nodded.
"Yes, you did. The crown prince of Maradova is becoming too much of a threat for us, and this continent so I want you two, to kill him."
"Okay… Yes, sir," Blaine sighed, biting the inside of her cheek. This was a suicide mission…
"We'll figure out the plans another time as I wan't you two to process this, understand?" He raised an eyebrow at them.
Blaine nodded sharply. "Of course, sir."
This was ridiculous… Was he trying to get them killed? He was an assassin, after all.
Thranion waved his hand, an indication that the conversation was over and for them to leave
Andion looked at him a little longer before standing and walking to the door.
Blaine stood after Andion and walked over to him.
"Let's go eat or something, yeah?" she suggested with a forced smile.
Andion nodded, "Yeah, food sounds good. Here or in the city?"
"Doesn't matter much to me, but we could probably discuss some certain topics in the city…" Without getting in trouble, Blaine left off.
Andion sighed, "Yeah, that's true. Let's head out then." He grabbed her hand and started down the corridor.
"You know what I meant, right?" Blaine asked once they were out of Thranion's office, looking at Andion out of the corner of her eye.
"It's a suicide mission…" Andion muttered, "He's trying to get us killed."
"Exactly. Now, the question is, do we play along with his little plan? Or do we leave?" Blaine murmured.
"We could always… discuss this with the prince?" Andion suggested.
Blaine shrugged. "I guess. If he'd be willing to speak with us."
"Once we're in Maradova we can send him a letter requesting an audience." Andion rubbed at his chin in thought.
"That could work. But, again, only if he would actually agree to see us," Blaine said, nodding slowly. "What did Thranion even mean, anyway, when he said the prince was 'becoming too much of a threat to us'?"
Andion shrugged, "Maybe the prince knows what this place is and who we are. I'm not sure but we can find out."
"I certainly hope we can. Otherwise, I don't think I'll like the way this mission turns out…" Blaine trailed off, biting her lip.
Andion hummed his agreement, "Let's just get something to eat."
"That sounds good," Blaine sighed with a nod.
Andion took her hand in his and headed to a small shop in the city. It was quiet and peaceful and lavender bushes bloomed around the outside.
Blaine took a deep breath and smiled. "It smells amazing out here."
