(She only stings when she chooses) All the same blue/purple coloration.

Personality: Loud, and likes to voice her opinion. Is mindful of people's boundary's, but can't help but push them a bit. An adventurer, and wonders aloud what it's like outside the tank (which will eventually get her in trouble ;)). Remembers everything; where everything in the tank is and when the guard changes out.
Appearance: In water: long dark turquoise tail, long dark red hair (like really long), gils on neck, fingers end in sharpened points. One green eye, one blue. Freckles. On land: hair piling on the floor, slim althletic build, same eyes, smells vaguely of the ocean. Short; 5'4", and weighs 151 lbs. Freckles. Regular human features.
Race: (Like, species.) The Vodyanoy from Slavic mythology (and as used e.g. by China Miéville in his books, Perdido Street Station and Iron Council) seem to fit the bill. Namely, they are sentient creatures that live (and breathe) underwater, with some sort of power over the water itself. They exhibit frog- and fish-like feature (gills, membranes, scales, fish tail), as well as humanoid ones. In Miéville's take on that Russian mythology, the Vodyanoi need water to survive, and are intelligent creatures that master the "watercraeft," i.e. the ability to shape and control water.
