"Fine, just don't kill me!" Oh boy, your secret is going to be free now!
"Fine, just don't kill me!" Oh boy, your secret is going to be free now!
Evelyn leans forward to stare into the queen's eyes. Then she was gone. A cloud of dust flew up from where she was once.
She sprints to the shadows of a nearby building and watches.
Alysha blinked and scrambled to her feet. Almost as soon as she recovered, her breath came in sharp, ragged pants, as if she'd just ran an incredibly long distance. The girl had gone, so she figured she was safe.
Her eyes turned from their natural amber to a dark shade purple, almost black, and she tilted her head back so that her face tilted towards the sky. Light… She strained too hard. A surge of power shocked her and she fell roughly onto her hands and knees. "I'm getting weaker," she murmured.
A fuzzy white noise filled her ears.
"Join us, sister," said a voice only heard to her.
"I will never," she spat back.
"You will regret this," a second voice put in.
"I don't care!"
"Do you not care for your kingdom?" a third voice tempted.
"I do, and I'll prove it by banishing you forever."
"Dear sister, no chains can hold us."
The white noise disappeared and she sighed. Another day, she'd held them off. It wouldn't be long before they found her, though.
Evelyn had somehow pulled her cloak over herself again and hood over her eyes to shade them out. She kept an eye on the queen from a distance
Alysha touched her face and throat where Evelyn's knife had cut. She sighed, genuinely unsure of what to do next.
"Hm…" Evelyn cursed herself for this but hunched her back and waddled close to the queen, putting on an old ladies voice, "Are you lost my dear?" She hated going incognito but she had to to not raise suspicion. especially after what just happened. Her white hair swung forward, aiding in the illusion of elderly.
Alysha whipped around. "N-No. I'm…" She quickly straightened herself and spoke smoothly. "I'm fine. Thank you."
Evelyn gives a long and drawn out fake gasp, "My dear! You're bleeding!"
Alysha subconsciously touched her throat. "I'll be fine."
"My dear! Those are deep! What happened? Come come. Ill lead you to the castle." Evelyn offered an arm to the queen. Her back had started to ack but she didnt dare break character
"Thank you for your kind offer, but I'm afraid I have some business to attend to," Alysha insisted.
"You need to get home child! Those cuts!"
"I appreciate your concern, but I promise you, I will be fine," she assured the woman.
Evelyn pureses her lip, "Well alright, child. Now just remember… Not everything may be as it seems." Evelyn waves and slowly walks off
Alysha narrows her eyes. That cloak… the white hair… She flicks her wrist and the cloak flys off of Evelyn. "You?!"
"Shit! (Sorry if cursing isnt allowed)" Evelyn straightens and faces the queen, smirking.
Alysha frowns. "What were you doing? What are you doing?"
"Helping. Look. I never intended to kill you. I know it may not seem that way. But. I needed the money."
"Why?" she asked sympathetically.
"Certain… Dept…" Evelyn crosses her arms, her armor clicks slightly
Alysha pales dramatically, the fact striking her for the first time. "If you were here the whole time, then you… saw…" SCREW YOUR SECRET!
"I did…"Evelyn didnt say anything else about it
"Well then… I have to go. An urgent matter of business." Alysha straightened regally and walked away.
Evelyn stands there in the middle of the street. A light breeze causes her hair to flow slightly. She then turns the other way and back toward a packed bar nearby. She looks around and walks toward a man with a large scar on his face. He looked up at her, "Well? Did you kill her?"
Evelyn didnt answer but drew out the blade with the blood on it, "Slit her throat and disposed of the body…" The man nods and passes her an entire sack of coins. She opens it to see only copper pieces instead of gold. She looks up at the man as he starts to speak again, "You're on my radar now, woman. The hunt starts tomorrow for you. Just what you get for lying. Now. Run little girl. Run away and never return."
The assassin stares at the man and jogs out of the bar.
(That was a lot)
(You're good!)
Alysha (coincidentally) entered the very same bar Evelyn had left, but she had no idea. She stayed smoothly around the outside and snuck into a back room.
