Rengoku noded, racing back to the camp.
After they had gotten back, rengoku rested in the room set out for hashiras. He was constantly being pestered to take his meds and rest, though he kept trying to train.
Soon the nurse would go get tengen to hold rengoku down
(getting ready to go into math, might be off for a bit)
(That's fine, don't rush take your time to get a good grade!)
( I'm back! And it's your turn, my dear hashira. Joking joking 😆 )
(XD ok)
Tengen went over to Rengoku, "Stop acting childish, the nurses are just trying to do there job. Don't make me hold you down." He said sternly.
Rengoku sighed and crossed his arms " I am in no need here. I need to be out and training!" he said trying to stand once more. " I have relaxed as long as I can. I need to get back to missions and keep protecting people who need me. Demons do not rest and neither should I!"
Tengen sighs, "If you train before a battle you'll be tired out more easily, and we don't want that do we?" He said looking at Rengoku in the eyes, as he said this.
" the more I train the more stamina I can build, am I wrong?"
"The more stamina you use quickly the more of a risk you'll be at…" He said looking at Rengoku. "Please at least let the nurses check you, for me?" He said trying to convince Rengoku.
Rengoku sighed, his smile filtering for the time. " fine. " he said
Tengen nodded, "Thank you Rengoku, I'll be right here when you are done." He said.
Rengoku let the nurses lead him into a closed room for a checkup.
" you owe me Tengen. Don't care what. But you owe me." he growled almost playfully
Tengen chuckles, "I know…" He said playfully.
Once the check over was done, a few threatened to put the hashira on bed rest. But the thick-skulled man just ignored them, heading outside with his sword on his belt.
The hashira was already heading out into the woods to find a clearing to practice in.
Rengoku hated sitting around. What would his father say? The flame-haired hashira scolded himself for getting hurt in the first place. He couldn't be that weak, and he should have shown that he didn't need anyone else to help. He should have been saving tengen, not the other way around…
Tengen saw Rengoku walking to the woods. He sighed. "What am I going to do…" He mutters to himself, following Rengoku quietly.
Rengoku hadn't noticed tengen, too caught up in his thoughts. 'maybe father was right. Or maybe I'm just too weak'
Soon rengoku voiced his thoughts, sitting down on his knees in the clearing. It was clear just how much resentment he had for himself when it came to weakness.
Tengen heard this and slowly made his way over to Rengoku, "Your not weak, stop saying that to yourself…." He said from behind Rengoku. He put a hand on his shoulder. "You are stronger than what your father says!" He said smiling.
Rengoku jumped at first but leaned into tengens touch. "I would have died had it not been for you. We both know that," he said and lowered his head
Tengen patted his head. Not saying anything, not sure how to respond to that.
" sit old friend, won't you?" rengoku asked softly. He took a couple of deep breaths and wiped his teary eyes.
" you shouldn't stress your body too much, "
Tengen nods, sitting down beside Rengoku, "Why are you thinking like this?" He asked softly, cressing Rengoku's cheek. "Don't doubt yourself, you are a brave hashira." He says putting his hand down, looking into the trees.
Rengoku closed his eyes and leaned into the other's touch for the moment it was there. " it is not only my thinking. It is a few others who think the same."
Tengen sighs, "I'm going to tell you something I've heard before…" He says taking a deep breath before continuing. "You can't feel inferior without your consent…" He says smiling at Rengoku, "Do you know what that mean?" He asked looking into Rengoku's eyes.
" yeah. I guess," he said and sighed. " but it's hard to know what to believe in when the only person who has ever thought something more of me was a demon.." he whispered
"Sometimes I wonder if Father would have been happier if I had stayed home. Never left to uphold our lineage. But.. Times when I see you make me think otherwise "
Rengoku lowered his head." I'm always smiling. But, right now it's so hard to just find a happier thought. I don't have a happy distraction like the boys do. The kamado boy has his sister, the boar boy, and the yellow-haired boy constantly spare with each other. "
