awesome! should we also include descriptions on what their demons look like?
oh heck I forgot about that, yeah hold on let me edit the template
kk
And we can put multiple demons, right?
Yeah if you want
Okay so I have a minor problem
I don't have any diagnosed mental illnesses, but it's pretty obvious to me that I have some, I just haven't gotten them checked out, so I don't know a lot of correct terminology and stuff
For Demons, would I just put down 'Anxiety'? Or should I specify more?
Are you basing your character on yourself or just don't know much about mental illnesses and their symptoms? Because I might be able to help with that
most of their mental illness symptoms will probably somewhat based off mine, and they sort of look like me, but other than that they're not really based off me
Okay, well if you have symptoms of anxiety just put that down, but if you have any questions about mental illnesses and their symptoms I might be able to answer them
thanks, Jensen, I'll see what I can do for now and ask whenever something specific comes up
no prob
CHARACTER
Name: Joanne Alanis
Age: 17
Gender/pronouns: she/her (cis female)
Sexuality: Bisexual
Personality: (INFP, though she's more ambiverted) Very thoughtful, a much darker mind than most think. Daydreams most of the time, needs stimulation for her huge imagination. Can get very anxious in social situations, laughs when she shouldn't, a grade A liar. A realist on most days, more pessimistic when it comes to herself, and optimistic when it comes to others, feels the need to constantly apologize. The definition of 'organized chaos'.
Appearance: Dark and thick brown hair that's straight close to her scalp but begins to form loose curls closer to the bottom, cut an inch or two below her shoulders, in a middle part with a widow's peak. Deep brown irises that blend with her pupil, lined with long, dark lashes, very expressive eyes usually underlined by dark circles or bags from her many sleepless nights. Medium-light, tan skin that's regrettably oily, acne scars along her lower cheeks and near-ish to the sides of her face, small blackheads dotting her nose, which is larger than she'd like. Dark eyebrows which aren't actually that large or bushy, but she'd extremely insecure about. Average height, somewhat pear-shaped figure, a more flat chest than typical for her age, fairly average body proportions besides chubby thighs that come with cellulite to support her wider hips, which she's also insecure about. She grew up with a mother that wouldn't allow her to shave her legs, adding another item to the list of physical features she's ashamed of. Self harm scars all over her body. During the winter, she'll be wearing black leggings and a hoodie with a nice shirt beneath that she's too self-conscious to uncover 90% of the time. Loves any variation of blue, specifically the medium and lighter hues. Loves her periwinkle Vans. During the summer, 95% of her shorts are jean shorts and most of her t-shirts are floral. Randomly transitions from loving to wear pretty stuff, to hating the way she looks in it. Wears a slim silver cross on a filigree chain beneath her shirt.
Mental Illnesses(s): Anxiety disorders, clinical depression, (chronic) insomnia
Other: Was born in Greece and moved to North America when she was four, grew up as a member of the Greek-Orthodox church with two parents who loved her and a sister four years younger than her. Said sister was supposed to be a twin, but her sibling died early in their mother's womb. Around 7th grade, self-doubt and hate began to set in because of behind-her-back bullying, and by the middle of grade 8, she absolutely hated herself because of that, and the fact that she'd had feelings for a few girls (and boys), and she had been raised to think that such feelings were a sin. Slowly, she came to the realization that it was her family that was wrong, not her, and began to out herself to some friends in high school. By tenth grade, she was out to a lot of people, but her mental health had deteriorated to the point where she craved death with every step she took (due to various factors). She was asked out by a girl, and she accepted. They broke up after two months, and she finally came out to her parents, who as a result, were devastated. Soon after, they found out about her cutting, and after she made an attempt to kill herself, they sent her to a mental hospital.
Right-handed, a nail-biter. Plays the viola, is learning to play the guitar, used to play piano, loves to sing, draw, write fiction, and write poetry, not to mention reading. Is in like twenty fandoms.
DEMON
Name or title: Anxiety
Gender/pronouns: they, them
Personality: Basically a physical manifestation of fear, always anxious, in a constant state of panic
Appearance: Generally manifest in the form of one monster, but can also split into two smaller versions, each representing the two types of anxiety listed below. About the size of a Golden Retriever puppy, except when split up into two forms (in which case each form is roughly the size of a rat), normally covered in short grey fur with glowing eyes that change in colour. Has for legs but normally moves around on its hind legs, which are powerful and used to jump around like a rabbit or a kangaroo, three small horns on either side of its head that can be moved by the muscles at their bases.
Mental Illness(s) it represents: Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder
Other: One of Joanne's less dominant demons
DEMON
Name or title: Depression
Gender/pronouns: they, them
Personality: Extremely pessimistic, always spewing hateful and malicious comments, stubborn, will never back down, hates being around lots of people, manipulative, prefers isolation.
Appearance: Thick, almost oily black fur covers its slinky, almost catlike body, and it's roughly the same size (if less slim) than an average housecat. Thick black horns with an engraved spiral pattern grow off its head, not straight up, almost laid flat, twisting near the top. Its eyes are huge and completely white, and its paws roughly resemble a racoons, except with much longer claws that secrete venom. Its snout is slim and pointed, almost similar to the shape of a deer skull, and its mouth is filled with tiny, razor-sharp fangs that cover not only the gums, but the whole inside of its mouth. A long, thin, whip-like tail sticks out of its hind end.
Mental Illness it represents: Clinical depression
Other: Joanne's most dominant demon
DEMON
Name or title: Nightmare
Gender/pronouns: she, her
Personality: Playful and energetic, has no concept of fear of morbidity, so she's indifferent as to what dreams she sends Joanne's way. Has an intense dislike for sleep, always wants her host up and running, and will use any means possible to get what she wants.
Appearance: Wispy and ethereal, made out of periwinkle smoke that can sometimes manifest into a more physical form. Smooth skin, almost like that of a dolphin's, a pale blue with hints of purple, has glowing purple eyes, large, bat-like ears, and a long swishy tail. She's almost elegant, in a way.
Mental Illnesses it represents: Insomnia/Sleep disorder
Other: One of the more dominant demons. Nightmare communicates through dreams and gestures, as she is mute.
