Autumn walked up the stairs to her dorm room, finally reaching her destination. She just finished her last class of the day. Her entire afternoon was free. She slung her bag off her shoulder and fished out her keys, unlocking the door and striding in. She paused briefly, realizing that Robin was there. Having not a lot of time to bond with him, she almost felt unsure of how to behave around him. “Hey roomie,” she smiled and cheerily said, closing the door behind her and flinging her bag onto her bed.
"Hey…" He replied quietly. He had never been good at socializing so it felt a bit awkward sometimes socializing and saying hello.
Noting the awkward tone in his voice, she tried to calm her voice a little, not wanting to make him overly uncomfortable. She sat down on the side of her bed, then looked over and asked, “What are you reading?”
"um. The Grimm fairy tales." He replied then looked over at her. He decided that looking at the person you are talking to is usually polite so he should look over.
She smiled lightly. “Oh, nice! I’ve read that before, granted, it hasn’t been in forever. What do you think of it?” She absentmindedly twirled at her hair while she spoke, a fidget she’d had since forever.
"They are interesting to say the least. A bit dark but not that bad. Some books are too light and fluffy. They make the world out to be a great and wonderful place though it is dark and full of sorrow." He cut himself off not saying anymore in fear of talking about himself which he didn't want to do.
“Yeah…” Her smile faltered and she looked at the floor, not really sure how to continue. Her phone lightly vibrated in her pocket, and she almost jumped to read it. She skimmed the message, and lightly sighed. Her best friend was bugging her again about a party she was hosting that night. Autumn had completely forgotten, and wasn’t even sure if she wanted to go at this point, most certainly not alone. Then her eyes drifted up and landed on the boy she shared her room with. “Hey.. so, I don’t know if this is your thing or not, but my friend’s throwing a party tonight, and I know we really haven’t gotten to hang out much, so, uh, I was wondering if you wanted to go with me?” She cringed a little and awkwardly smiled, knowing how cringe it must have sounded.
He was silent for a second thinking then decided he should go. She asked politely and he could probably go outside and hang out if needed. "Sure I could go with you." He replied to her nodding.
“Really!? Thanks- I promise you’ll have a good time! Plus, this will actually give us a chance to hang out outside of here, since we never seem to be here at the same times,” she nervously laughed, rubbing the back of her neck, realizing just how overly happy and excited she sounded.
He nodded smiling and started messing with his sleeves and pulling them down past his wrists subconsciously. "Sounds fun." He replied already knowing he was probably going to die from social interaction.
“I promise it will be- and if you aren’t having a good time we can totally leave early! I know you probably won’t know anyone there, so I’m totally fine with only being there for a little while,” she tried to assure him, noticing the way he was messing with his sleeves.
((Should we have a timeskip sometime soon?))
"Yeah. Thanks." He replied and nodded. This would be absolutely great. Hopefully the food there at this party is good. He thought.
(How about skip to arrival)
((Okie dokie! I’ll do that with this reply then-))
Autumn shut off the car, putting her keys into the cup holder and looking over at Robin in the passenger seat. “You ready?” She quietly asked. It had been a quiet trip over, and she wanted to make sure he was still cool with being here. She quickly looked down at her lap and smoothed out the dress she had changed into before they came; black and sparkly, ending at her mid thighs. Something a little more out there than her slept in t shirts and jeans.
"Yeah. I'm ready." He replied. The only thing he had done to get ready was put a button down shirt over his long sleeve shirt and fixed his hair. He wasn't sure what you were really supposed to wear to parties so it seemed good enough.
“Alrighty! Let’s go!” She opened her door and stepped out, bouncily walking to the door. She knocked a couple times, able to hear the bass of the music inside already. The door was answered by Autumns best friend. “Autumn! I’m so glad you could make it!” She excitedly hugged her friend. Autumn laughed, then said, “I wouldn’t miss it. Uh, Maddie, this is Robin, my roommate.” She kept her introduction brief, and turned to look at him as she spoke, gesturing between the two.
"Hello." He said in a calm and clear voice. Then put out his hand to shake her hand. Though he didn't know if that is how you should say hi at this point. He was never actually sure of anything so what the heck.
“Hey! Nice to meet you,” Maddie shook his hand, then turned and not so discreetly winked at Autumn. She rolled her eyes, her friend being the flirt as always. “So, c’mon in you two! We have dancing going on mainly in the living room, foods in the kitchen, games and talking is just kind of going on everywhere, just go have fun,” the girl ushered them in.
Robin nodded and walked in not really needing to be pushed but was fine with it. He looked around with no idea of what exactly to do.
After Maddie bounded away, Autumn paused, casting a glance at Robin. “So, what do you want to do? And I’m sorry about her, she can get excited easily-“ she twirled her hair, looking across the room.
"We could do whatever. Anything is fine with me." He replied and smiled reassuringly. He hoped his nerves would stay controlled.
“Oh, I don’t know. We could raid the food first if you want?” She smiled and winked, hoping to coax Robin a little further out of his shell.
"Alright that sounds good." He replied nodding. Food honestly sounded good and the only reason he goes out places.
(Sorry about taking so long to respond… I fell asleep. It was 1am.)
