Kay what're we doing

The moon was high, in the forest. A cool breeze swept through, shaking the trees. Kye sat on a rock near the lake listening to the soft splash of the water on the shore. I was the first peaceful night he'd had in a while.

Kida stumbled through the forest. His vision wavered and tilted dangerously to the side, it had been too long since he had eaten anything and even longer since he last slept. The trees swayed through a strong breeze. At least the stars were beautiful. He wished he could enjoy the calm that the rest of the world seemed to be engaged in.

Kye heard something behind him and turned to see someone stumbling around. "Uh…" he stood up and walked towards them. "Sir? Are you okay?"

Kida blinked rapidly to try to clear his vision at the sound of someone's voice. It took a second too long before he registered what was said." Yes," he tried to straighten up and look steadier on his feet then he felt,"um yes I'm fine."

Kye looked him over, and shook his head. "You don't look fine," he commented. "You look like you haven't slept in four days and you haven't eaten in longer." He stepped back and looked around. The only times he'd ever seen someone like this, they were being chased down. "Are you sure you're okay?"

The words moved sluggishly in Kida's head. It had been a long time since he had spoken in this particular language and the translations were slow to come let alone the proper responses. "I'm sure…"he trailed off then began again,"I'm sure I'm good." He couldn't seem to be able to think of anything more eloquent or complex than that.

"Sit down," Kye told him.

Kida blinked. Exhaustion slowing his responses and seeping through his defences, lowering his guard.
"'Kay," he stiffly lowered himself to the ground, tilting dangerously to one side before righting himself and settling down.

"Okay," Kye sat done not far from him. "You just stumbled out of the woods, and you are swaying on your feet. You look half dead, judging from the look on your face I'd say that I sound like a I'm talking through milk. So are you going to tell me what's wrong or what?"

Once the words meanings clicked Kida looked at him weirdly. "Sorry, I am having trouble translating fast enough. This is not my first language and it has been awhile since I have needed to use it." He hoped that would maybe be enough of an excuse to avoid the rest of the problem. At least until he could think of a good reason to give this stranger who seemed strangely concerned about him. Though that was probably because he looked dead on his feet.
