Lucy pursed her lips in thought as she considered the offer. “I can work various harmful spells, if that could accomplish anything,” she said, thinking back to the dark pages in the spell book that she had glanced over.
Lucy pursed her lips in thought as she considered the offer. “I can work various harmful spells, if that could accomplish anything,” she said, thinking back to the dark pages in the spell book that she had glanced over.
Sam glanced over at Lucy. He didn't particularly like the idea of others using dark magic, but they did what they needed to do
Orion gave Lucy a dark look, eyes flashing dangerously. "Don't. Your magic is not meant for darkness, it will drain you, could take you over. Distraction and healing would probably be more effective anyway." Turning, he addresses the group. "Once again, does anyone need a weapon?"
Lata went into the other room to tug on her boots so that the group could get going once everyone was prepared. She also had a good supply of general healing potions she had learned to make for when they returned.
Sam shook his head. "I should be fine. I may not be able to summon my proper weapons, but most of my magic is still intact."
Lucy gave a frustrated exhale, glancing down at her lap. She thought she could handle herself just fine. She made a silent promise to herself that she would work on it later at the willow when she had more time to herself.
Sam frowned down at his hand, the metal sinking back into his skin. "Well if everyone's ready, let's go get my soul back."
Lata nodded in confirmation. No one she cared about would die on her watch. Even if it would be 100 years from now, the thought of Sam dying upset her.
Cas slithered over to the others, stopping next to Sam. "I think I may be able to help. I should be healed enough to use some form of magic, and if anything truly bad happened I would be able to heal it."
Lucy shifted her gaze over to Cas and nodded solemnly. “I can always help if needed.” Of course she had looked for healing spells in the dark section first. She found a healing spell for major wounds, even an incarnation spell, which could be very useful. The healing spell was a sort of potion, so she had made one or two vials of it. It was just the basic healing potion, but it required a bit of the castors blood. It hard hurt, but she did manage to convince herself that it would be worth making a small cut into her forearm if it meant saving someone.
Orion looked at the assembled group, and nodded solemnly. Turning on his heel, he walked out of the house, seeming to know exactly where to go.
Lata followed quickly behind Orion, not wanting to fall behind.
There was an odd noise that sounded like wood snapping, and in a moment Cas had shifted into a tall teenager with bandages across his eyes. He was wearing an oversized camo jacket, and a medical band was tied around one of his arms. "This could pass as human, right?"
Lucy’s head had turned to look at Cas as she was walking out the door. “Looks good to me,” she commented, stepping outside, satchel slung across her torso.
Cas smiled. "That's good. Shifting is difficult for me sometimes, and things with legs are finicky at best," he said, fiddling with his hood to keep it from catching on one of the feathers tied into his curly red hair
Lucy gave a nod, smiling slightly as she followed Orion. “That’s understandable, considering you usually don’t have legs,” she responded.
Sam rolled his eyes as they talked. Cas gave him a smug look, and Sam had to resist the urge to flip him off. Cas walked a little faster so he was right next to the others
While they walked, Lucy took her spell book from the satchel, glancing through the white pages for anything that could be helpful to the situation. She occasionally glanced down at the ground in front of her, not wanting to trip on anything while she went along. There wasn’t much in the white, as she was nearing the end of the section. She paused on the last page before the black pages, feeling that she would get scolded by Orion again if she looked in front of them.
Sam glanced over at Lucy. He would prefer her stay away from dark magic, but he supposed he couldn't really stop her. Cas, however, seemed to be having mixed feelings at the sight of the pages. "What are you looking at?"
Lucy looked over at Cas. “This is my family’s spell book. Just looking for anything that could help us, but there’s not much in the first section,” she explained, shifting her hold on it so Cas could see the page she was reading.
Cas nodded, frowning a little. "I'd be very careful if you decided to look at the dark pages. Some people have difficulty handling spells of that nature."
Great, another person to pester me about that Lucy thought with a faint frown. “I’ve already taken a look at a few of the pages, I’ll be able to handle it just fine,” she answered quickly.
Lata couldn't help looking back at Cas. It was still strange seeing him in any other form than his usual feather worm form. Thinking about it, she could think of a few other similarities in his elongated form. When sleeping, he almost coiled up like a slinky. She almost snickered at the thought, had they not been on their way to slay whatever monster that had eaten Sam's soul key.
"Lucy's capable of plenty," Lata spat. Cas hadn't been with them long, so he had no room to judge what Lucy could handle. She was amazed what the older mage could do actually.
Lucy looked over at Lata with a slight smile. “Thank you, Lata. The support is greatly appreciated,” she said, her previously level tone now warm.
