It's the year 2125, and hardly anyone is left who remembers the way America used to be. The presidency fell apart sometime around 2050, throwing our bright country into one of chaos. Then, a man stepped up in 2078 and brought the country back together again.

This man was the (in)famous Kline Lasota. At age 35, he saved America by gathering an army and turning the chaos to peace. After establishing the peace, Lasota started ruling the country through a democratic monarchy, letting the people vote on certain issues and laws. He died at the age of 45, and his twenty-year-old son, Sebastian, assumed his throne.

Sebastian ruled wickedly, taking advice from his evil advisors on almost all things. He had married Katerina Rosilli, who died not long after their daughter was born, and they bore two sons and a daughter. Their oldest son, Kline Lasota II, assumed the throne when Sebastian died in 2108, when he was 40, from a heart disease.

At age 18, Kline II ascended to his father's throne and has nearly outlasted both of his predecessors, as it is his 17th year ruling the country. He married Scarlet Thomas when he was 19 and she was 17, and they soon had twins. The oldest was their daughter Lilah; their oldest son, Liam, was ten minutes later.

At seventeen-years-old, Lilah has a choice: Let Liam be king as soon as he marries his girlfriend, or marry before he does and be queen. Liam knows what a good queen she will one day be and hopes that she can find live soon; Lilah, on the other hand, doesn't understand how she could be a good queen or how she could find a man to love as quickly as she needs to.

In order to do her duty and marry before she turns 18, Lilah resorts to something that she heard other kingdoms do: she holds a ball, inviting a few princes from the other kingdoms to try and win her hand.

I will roleplay as Princess Lilah and also do a few of the other princes as necessary. I think it's quite obvious that your character will be a prince. ;)

Lilac paced, walking circles around her room as her favorite and most-trusted maid stood by, ready to help at a moment's notice.

"Lilah, I'm sure it will be all right," Daisy assured her from her post near the door. "The princes have already arrived and are simply waiting for you to greet them in the Men's Parlor."

"I know, I know. But I don't know if I can." Lilah bit her lip as she stopped next to her bed and sat down on its edge.

Cameron sat in one of the finer chairs that he'd claimed for himself, watching the other princes with a look of boredom on his face. They were all milling around, talking amongst themselves, and most annoyingly, Cameron noticed they were all quite young.
Cameron tugged at his collar resisting the urge to untie his tie and strangle one of the fifteen-year-old princes hopping on the cushions. He could almost hear his butler's words,

"Good princes don't untie his tie until they're in private."

That's not even grammatically correct! Cameron fumed to himself. It makes no seeennnnnseeee…

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Daisy had somehow convinced Lilah that she could, in fact, greet the princes, and so the princess was standing outside the door. She took a deep breath, smoothing her dress almost subconsciously before stepping in.

"Good afternoon, gentlemen," she greeted them with a nod of her head. She managed to paste a genuine-looking smile on her face as she looked around the room.

Cameron merely glanced over as the other "men" bowed hastily, so ridiculously low, Cameron thought he could see their noses brush their overly shiny shoes. He just waved a hand, not moving an inch other than that to give her a sign he was there when she gazed over his area of the room.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Lilah's gaze flicked over a man who didn't even bother to bow to her, as was proper because of her status as crown princess, and her eyebrows dropped momentarily.

Who is he…?

"My father will join you all soon to give you the details of why you are here, which you only know the basics of," she explained, tearing her gaze away to look across the rest of the room.

Her hands were clasped behind her back, and she stood up straight, the picture of the perfect princess.

Not that I feel like it.

Great. Just great. I don't want to be here at all, then I'm subjected to listen to sh** I already know. Cameron had to stop himself from groaning out loud at how incredibly bored he was sitting there, as half of the princes just about pissed their pants staring at her.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

Lilah sighed and refrained from rolling her eyes at the princes. Only a very few seemed decent enough to even be here. Why were the others here again? Her father must have picked them…

I feel like he still thinks of me as a little girl sometimes.

"Have a good rest of your afternoon," she said in farewell to the group. "I will fetch one of you later to learn more about you."

The princes bowed again, and Lilah bit back another sigh. One of the men caught her eye, though. He was near the one who hadn't bowed earlier, and he gave her a soft, genuine-looking smile. She returned it, feeling a bit better as she stepped out.

Cameron stood as she stepped out. Screw this. I'm clearly not cut out for her, nor this prince bull. He wove through the princes, who were all excitedly talking amongst themselves, yet he, intent for the door, ready to leave and spend the rest of his life with his dog.

@Imperfect_Autumn group

King Kline was waiting for his daughter just outside the door, and he pulled her into a gentle hug. Placing a soft kiss on top of her head, he said, "You did a great job, Lil. I'm proud of you."

"Thanks, Daddy," Lilah sighed. "They're ready for you, now."

"I will see you at lunch," the kind assured her as he pulled away from the embrace. He straightened his back, looking regal once again, and stepped through the door.

"Good day, princes," he greeted them. Once the greetings were over, he explained to them that they were there because his daughter needed to find a husband, and they needed to be respectful of her wishes. "Do not touch her without her permission. You will be sent straight home."

Cameron slumped slightly, almost brushing the king with his chin, showing how agonizingly close he was to leaving this hellhole. He moved back slightly and put his hands in his pockets.
Great, a preach. God, Williams is so gonna get it when I get home.

But sir, you simply must go! His butler had said to him, with no actual explanation that the other princes there were as young as some of his subjects.

"I don't want to go," Cameron responded gruffly.

But you mUST!

@Imperfect_Autumn group

(Sorry, I had to shower!)

The king left the room soon after his speech was over, and Lilah had gone back to her room. And her pacing.

"I don't know which one to take with me tonight," she sighed as she turned to face Daisy. "Oh… There was one man who was… different than the others… Maybe… Maybe I'll take him."

"That seems like it might be a good idea, Princess. Would you like me to find your outfit now?" the maid asked.

"No, no. I'll do it after lunch."
